I've always loved flat lay photos, I never realized why until my son became obsessed with ISpy books. All of those shots always simply tell a story. Nice to learn the simple little touches and details, and how much they change a shot.

Peter, I noticed something you said around the 6:20 mark, with regard to placing/arranging large and small objects. I'm a professional artist and one of the things I've learned from the best artists is what is referred to as "unequal distribution of mass" in compositions and you're teaching your viewers how to do just that! You've made photography an art form. The thing I love most about your work is your attention to detail. Absolutely love your enthusiasm. It's infectious and inspiring. More, please.

I'm going to try this, but I'm going to make the picture using items from around the various offices within the company, so that each will have a unique contribution in a way that compliments the whole. Also, when everyone inside the company sees the final photo, they will say "Hey, that's my pen...", etc. allowing everyone to celebrate in their own way.=, creating a great piece to market to potential customers, but also to accomplish what I call "internal marketing" to the people within our company. Thanks for all you do Peter!

You are one of the most influential individual / Every time I watch your videos I end it off saying to myself "That's My Boy" / Keep up the great work / You helped me shape the videographer I'm becoming!

I instinctively cringe when I see a $240 ND filter sitting on the floor.

I used to do a lot of intricate flat lays but it takes sooooo long that I was spending hours every day just to get one photo for Instagram that people are gonna scroll past in 1.5 seconds. Then do it all over again the next day. Just didn't make sense time wise to continue doing it. But you have inspired me so maybe I will try to do them from time to time. Also, using fabric as your background can really help with objects that roll.... like pencils and paint brushes, etc.

Great advice Pete! The little details and textures are what separate your flat photos from every stock photo out there with the same contents.
