Just visited Notre Dame last July during the Paris Olympic Games after 44 years!! Can not describe the feeling with words!!! Thank you to the thousands of people who contributed to make it Possible!!! Chapeou!
God's blessings for the rebirth of the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral, a hallmark of faith and eternality throughout the centuries. Congratulations to all the experts who have labored, out of love, for the revival of this world landmark. And also, to all the people around the world who have contributed their resources to this project.
I am so glad that they chose to do an authentic rebuild when there were other plans about a gaudy digital electric light show. It was built to inspire people in their worship of God and should remain a place of solemnity. It should always be a place to humbly bow our heads in prayer.
It's like a phoenix rising out of its ashes. The workers, artists and all who contributed their time and money deserve a huge round of applause!!!!! What a magnificent job in the end. Vive Notre Dame!!!
@@Megalith_EN Not only that...Its not like they havent been rebuilding on it for the last 800 years..... Sadly could almost call it an upgrade to a newer modern standards... for several hundred more years....
I went to Norte Dame as a teenager in 1960s and again in 2005, what a beautiful cathedral, I only wish more lapsed Catholic’s returned to their faith. God bless to you all from UK
Has it really been 5 years? I can't believe it---I guess time flies when people are brought together to work for one goal. Now THAT is the miracle of Notre Dame.
Yes but tradition and law ensure a free entrance in churches in France. And there are other ways to finance the restoration of the thousands of churches and religious buildings we have in France. (Like raising by 1€ the hotel tax per night). Churches in France are mainly the property of the state or the cities but should welcome everybody. French people also don’t want to become like some churches in Italy or Spain where you have to pay for some churches. It is a cultural choice. Complex question. 😅 We will see what happens. For now it is free :)
If the reconstructions are made to the glory of God, they will be magnificent. If they are made for the indulgence of some 'artist', they will be appalling.
Also, works on the exterior of the cathedral will continue till 2029-2030. (especially replacing / restoring some external stones in the back the cathedral) It was due before the fire and was even more necessary after the fire and the tons of water it received.
As expensive as the restoration looks, it's still cheaper than the 1,5 billion € spent for the olympics to "clean" the Seine river , which at the end of the day is as dirty as it was before. And it was public money... At least here there is a result and it will last for centuries, for half the price.
I am so glad that the sad architects that wanted to change some of the beautiful features of the grand building into horrid modernistic junk were rebuffed. There is only one way to restore an historic building and that is back to its original glory. As for the windows they should also be reproduced and redesigned. Hats off to the hundreds of fine craftspeople who have worked on this restoration.
NO WAY IN HELL SHOULD THEY CHARGE TO ENTER A CHURCH !!! IF THEY ACCEPT DONATIONS THATS FINE BUT THEY HAVENT EVEN SPENT HALF OF THE 1.5 BILLION DONATED !!! SHAME ON THEM !!!
How much will it cost? Does it matter? Whatever it costs is what it costs. I was there as a nine year old in 1967 with my Grandmother, and I can still remember walking through Notre Dame with my mouth open in wonder. What they have already accomplished is amazing, and I hope they make it as good, or even better, than it was before.
It’s definitely worth at least five bucks for preservation…good lord…it’s a world heritage site and it was devastating to watch burn…as long as they put the funding towards maintenance and preservation of the cathedral and maintenance of the skills to maintain it…how can someone complain about paying five euros ? Perhaps when there are times worship only, no fee but there wouldn’t be any tours during those times, preserving its role as a cathedral…then a fee for those just wanting to tour it? I just don’t see the brunch-ha-ha but I’m just an ignorant half American and half German…
"Despite the financial rationale behind the proposal, the idea has met with strong opposition from France's Catholic church." (Shows old men in silk gowns surrounded by art and precious artifacts paid for by congregants). If there's so much opposition, The Vatican could easily cough up a couple billion to pay this off.
@@purberri i don't know, but most fires don't spread from the top to the bottom in just a few hours. Especially when it's a solid oak wooden constuction coated with lead to provide combustion...
It's more of a museum than a church, so I have no problem with a modest 5 Euro fee. France, like nearly all of western Europe, is atheist. Churches are empty on Sunday, sadly.
And also, over the last few years, the catholic community in France, and especially in Paris, has actually grown in numbers. When I visited Paris in February this year, I often attended the mass (different churches), and I can promise you, they were not empty (sometimes, not always ofc, the churches were actually full!)
I love how the French Catholic Church thinks charging money for entering a church is not in line with their inclusivity. :-) Maybe tell that to all those Catholic churches all over the world who are not shy to ask for money to let you enter.
Well, it is easy for the catholic church to adopt this position, because it costs literally nothing to the institution : in France, the maintenance of the various churches and cathedral is borne by the State, that is to say public money. So, when the clergy refuse to charge the entrance, it can be a very popular decision, but the truth is that this money they refuse to ask could be used for maintenance and restorations, which costs a lot to our public finance. If the catholic church had to take charge of those costs, no doubt the clergy would ask for money.
Should you have spoken to a French man or woman as to how to pronounce Notre Dame? American pronunciation is such an irritation. The BBC have made three documentaries about the restoration - superb!
Thanks for the feedback! This is how most Americans pronounce Notre Dame. The script is written in American English and our amazing voice over actor grew up in New York. We’re very sorry it irritates you so much and will try to do better next time! Thank you for watching!
Christianity and Islam are amnesty the biggest scams ever played upon the human race. Still, one can appreciate the magnificent artists, sculptures and engineering skills utilized in church buildings ❤
They never had to! A few of the ultra wealthy got ahead to speed things up and have their name forever associated with such great place! Thank you for watching!
@TB.D Interesting. I didn't know that's how it is in France. I wish we Americans were smart enough to take everything away from corrupt church's, or at least tax their income.
Really the poor is as a result of greed by those who will not share what they have with others. Ps the poor need work to look after themselves not a handout again . Think of those who have earned a living or learned a trade on this project.

How could you have visited ? It’s not open to the public yet

I couldn’t believe that the job could be done in 5 years ! Amazing 🤩!
Nor could we!

I was in tears watching that fire! 😢
🎉🎉🎉 blessing on the rebuilded church an workes that did this❤❤❤❤❤

Truly! Thank you for watching! We hope you like the rest of our videos and what’s to come!
If the 5 euro is announced people will gladly donate. It will be a joyous day
Wonderful building, and I appreciate the restoration by the French. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
The year was 1163 this is 2024 or 850+ years and having been inside this edifice once and donated to its rebirth...THANK YOU!
We are glad you liked our video. Thank you for watching!
Thank goodness older that La Rochere and Louvre.
We were in Paris and saw Notre Dame just before it burned. So glad to see it rebuilt.
Entrance fee? Controversial? €5, that is nothing for what one would see in 5 minutes!
Everyone relax.
Fees go up

That’s true! And the gardens and surrounds. Thank you in for watching us!
You should have mentioned that December 8 is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, for this cathedral dedicated to her.
Thanks for the feedback and for watching our video!
I was just going to say that!!!! Every good Catholic should know that date!
@ I bet Joe Biden doesn’t know.
Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8th‼️
Cindy is the best! She has the best brother and mom! I love your channel and tell all my friends about it!
Thank you kindly!

I hope they added fire sprinklers.
They have indeed! Thank you for watching!
Yes and they also integrated 2 firewalls in the ancient design of the roof. Hope it will not be used 🤞

The answer is yes. How about a hard question next time.

To the credit of France...well done.
We agree! Thank you very much for watching!
November 8th is the feast of the immaculate conception..appropriate for notre dame reopening
❤❤❤❤❤❤

I would probably donate $50

Not to mention that Notre Dame de Paris, like all cathedrals and churches in France, is owned by the State, not the Catholic Church.
In 5 years
How did they dew it?
Amazing isn’t it! Thank you for watching!
So what was the cause of the fire?

Non-religious does not mean atheist.

As you probably know the Catholic Church is very poor having given all its wealth away to good causes… oh hang on - no it hasn’t my mistake!

It's surprizing to learn that the mayor of Paris is not Anne Hidalgo.
A few contestable things stated here. But the one that ignores the Eiffel Tower as being the most famous landmark of Paris is a doozy.
Thank you for watching and the feedback Wayne!
A structure built of wood and stone in 1260 vs a steel tower completed in 1889. Take your pick. It’s up to each individual.
It was not an accident.
That fire happened on the very day Daenerys left her stupid dragons unguarded while fooling around in the landscape with her nephew.

Why didn't the Catholic church, with its billions of dollars in net worth, pay for the restoration of their property?
They never had to! A few of the ultra wealthy got ahead to speed things up and have their name forever associated with such great place! Thank you for watching!
I've wondered that too!
Because Notre Dame is NOT owned by the Catholic Church but by the French state.
Because its not their property .
@TB.D Interesting. I didn't know that's how it is in France.

Voluntary contributions is best
This video is full of mistakes. Like the name and photo the of mayor.
Thanks for the feedback. We hope you enjoyed it.
This video is a waste of time - no new information.
Thank you for watching. We hope not to disappoint you in the next one!
The money spend on restoring could feed the entire world
and then it turns out it is not used to feed people but to build tunnels... I prefer the Notre Dame then...
