What are they on the phone discussing? Is it the client theyre bidding for? I imagine the conversation goes something like this: Employee (bidder): price up to $59 million now Client: ummmm....I want it sooooo bad but $60 million!!!??? Ohhhh I dont knowwwww! Employee (bidder): well now its at $62 million Client: awwww hell! What do I do? Employee (bidder): *waits patiently* Client: awww what the hell go for $65 million!
This is the most beautiful painting from Monet, a wonderful example from the Impressionist movement. I would have bought it for $ 1 billon if i were that wealthy.
I heard 59m$, so the rest is plus tax part? (also curious Sotheby's cut on this type of famous art works) - Congrats to the buyer regardless, beautiful art.
I take your point but most of the art I look at I see in art books or on my phone. So even if a piece is in a museum, most people aren't going to see it in person because they're on the wrong side of the world. For most people I don't think it makes much difference. Plus are are a lot of Monets like this in museums across the world anyway. In this case I don't think people are really missing out.
I am sorry! He gave his “class” away 🤣. “Ravishing THING?? Ravishing THING??” Here in Hawaii I would much preferred to have heard “Ravishing Sill Life” or even “Ravishing Monet”😊😊😇😇ALOHA 🇺🇸😇🌴🏄🏼♂️🏄🏼♂️🏄🏼♂️🍍🚢⛱️. ENJOY!
The Emperors new clothes. People can be so ridiculous to make a painting worth so much. The world's a mess and people are starving and people are paying 65.5 M for what........ a small painting that's ok at best. I know its an investment. Stupid rich people
So sad how these are not in museums for all to see
67 Million!! Am I too late?
We all want to live comfortably, but I’m pretty sure Monet was just looking at the beauty of what was in front of him.
One of the most beautiful colour works ever, paintings like this with its brightness are rare! Monet. 🌿

And the world burns.

The total includes hammer price, buyer’s premium of 10% as hammer price exceeded $6M, overhead premium, and local taxes.
What's funny is that I bought the framed poster for $47 and enjoy it just as much, saving almost $60 Million!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ wish it were in a museum for everyone to see ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This painting is going to reach 100 million at some point.
Captain Obvious, we got Captain Obvious here! See, no one cares...
I once bought a painting at Home Goods for $40 USD
i was expecting it to cross 100. why so low ?
What kind of people have $65million to spend on an hour or two worth of shopping?!
Who are these people??🤷♀️
Rare art moment in many respects.
Madonna bought it for her third floor powder room.

Very nice
wow!! I did NOT expect this to be clickbait!! Shame on you!!
What could those covering their mouth possibly be talking about for that long? Ordering pizza? Conversation should be: "57, wan' or not?!"
멋찐 미술 작퓸 참 아름답습니다😊😊😊
perfect.
A lot of money for a Monet
wowza
A nice commission payday for Sotheby's for 17 minutes work!
Makes me bloody sick.
Argh! I bid$59,000,000.99
Per ora nel piccolo storage…….😂
Just as stupid as paying a sports figure millions for a game
A sports figure helps generate income for a team. This painting will generate a nice tax deduction for the buyer.
a) one game v a life time of bragging rights b) these will go up in price.
Not for everyone-)
I love Monet but I’m not loving or liking this painting.
It sold for 59M NOT 65.5M as you claim in your caption above.
65m is plus the commission paid to Sotheby’s
Drool

It’s also a tax deduction when lent to a museum.
What an ignorant comment
Not worth the Monet,ha ha,
Rubbish 😷
so if u dont put your hand to your mouth, it will still be the same shit
Time is money... and Monet 🪷 is beyond time!
