I am in the process of designing a working, motor driven clockwork set of gears. This video show the designing and cutting of a set of planetary gears with my Roly 30W diode laser.

Thank You for another really great teaching. You make it all look so easy. 2!
Thanks for watching!
So... ummm... just for the record, my girlfriend and I do not even OWN cellphones. We use a landline both for our shop and for our home. And it's not a techno-phobia. I had the precursor to the "smartphone" - the HP iPAQ - before anyone even knew what it was. I was programming computers before the PC was popular. I was an electronics technician for two decades. I love technology. I just despise willingly, and gleefully, carrying a tracking and surveillance device.🤷♂
Making the hard look easy. Thanks Steve. (BTW, good recording.)
Finally found the source of my recording issues... I hope. Hopefully, those Gremlins are put to rest.
I want what's in those bottles on the bottom left! :P What you're planning to do is almost exactly what I'm doing- I want to make a 24x24ish clock. I want to make the second hand spin some gears, but for the hour/minute hand I want to set it up in such a way that as their gears turn it displays the time in numbers as the gears spin, so it'll be a regular analogue spinny clock while also displaying the time in numbers too. I don't know about the second hand, that gear would have to be pretty big, so I might do it too. It's gonna take a while to make but this is a nice start- very clever using the letter 'A' with a circle to make the profiles!
You probably also mentioned it but I can't find it- you do tell the formula for finding the amount of teeth on the ring gear but I can't find how you figure out the diameter. Is it somewhere in the vid? I just kinda eye-balled it and it seems to work okay but it'd be nice to have the formula to get the diameter of that ring.
Thank you so much, this is one of the most useful videos for lightburn that I've found
Hi Steve can you tell me what you use to clean your honeycomb with as I use oven cleaner which is very expensive and I need to this out side due to the fumes.
Man thanks Steven 🇬🇧
LA's Totally Awesome. I get it at the Dollar Store. Use it to clean every part of the laser.
I may be goofy but I can't find it. After using the camera, how do you usually turn the camera off like I just seen you just do in the video?
Go to the camera control tab and uncheck the Show button.
@@HoboWithWood I knew it was simple. Thanks!
Thanks Steve. Great video and loved the Sousa music. Had to watch the whole cut sequence (which I’d normally fast forward through) so I wouldn’t miss the music. 😁😁
Glad you enjoyed it
It is great to see you doing edited videos targeted at a particular project or technique. I am not a fan of the two plus hour live streams.
I can understand the gentlemen's frustration with eMail customer service. Sometimes it is quicker and less frustrating if you could just chat with someone, share the screen, or even talk on the phone. I had this problem with an online learning course. I would have a question and send an eMail, about 8 hours later I would receive a reply which wanted clarification as to where I was in the course, I would reply and then have to wait another 8 hours for their reply. Very frustrating!!!
I was struggling with the recording and editing process. Turns out it was a second faulty external drive. I think I have it resolved... I hope.
I express my apologies to the gentleman who had ordered
I tried to copy your direction could not get the outer ring to work
I'll go over it in the livestream tomorrow at 3 PM EST.
Thank you for your help and support Steve…
Glad to help.
Nice video. You changed the height of the A not the width. That’s why the gears didn’t look like they meshed correctly.
My hats off to you! As we all say I’m not that SMART?? That was interesting how you made those gears !!!!!! Thanks
Hi good design video as always. Could you do something with nesting please?
Great information! Thanks
Thank you Steve.... !
