Improving a humdrum SVG with LPI and Scan Angles

Another long video full of tons for information and ideas to improve and customize otherwise plain SVG's. I added my Hobo flair to a rather humdrum SVG with decreased LPI and varying the scan angels on different layers within the design. Improving a piece like this can be a little time consuming, but once you've done it and saved it, no one will have a design like yours.

love the trike idea, couldn't catch all the live but definitely will be there sat at 3pm
Sounds good!
Sorry I missed the live, traveling to Disney! Should be able to be there Saturday!
Be careful! I hear that place is infested with large rodents.
Does it have a pass through slot to run larger projects? If so, what are the dimensions of the width and height you can run through it?
It does have a pass through. It is 1" tall and 24" wide. hobowithwood.com/roly
If you have Grammarly installed on your laptop/PC it does spell check in Lightburn, No need to copy it into another program!
Thanks Hobo, Looking forward to saturdays stream.
I love this project. Saw the first video and was very sad I couldn't find the file when it was offered for n/c. Can I adjust slots and tabs in Corel 2024?
The file is available on my website. hobowithwood.com/product/nightstand-bookmark/ IF it was offered for n/c at one time, it was most likely for a short period of time after it was released. I will do this sometimes with a new file. I haven't used any Corel products since CorelDRAW in the 90's. Not familiar with any of Corel's capabilities.
I like your video, very well done. My question though is, how do you get around the licensing rights for using the likeness of the Grinch? I'd like to use that image, but I thought it was prohibited to do so without a license from the owner. Again, very well done video and project!
Thanks Hobo, Watched the replay.
Hope you enjoyed it.
Very cool. Really appreciate seeing how you developed the depth using the scan angles and LPI settings. Very helpful. Also got quite a bit out of seeing the editing process, particularly some of the commands in the node edit section. Hadn't thought about deleting nodes as a way to get things to align -- makes sense seeing how that worked out.
Glad it was helpful!
Missed the live but caught the great replay. Thanks Steve
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you Steve for the explanation! It makes complete sense now.
Glad it was helpful!
😢 i missed the live. I was moving my laser and got side tracked. At least i had a semi valid excuse lol 😊
Next time!
Have Leo/Roly figured out how to not have the fans always on when the machine is on with this new version? Is the camera integrated into the machine now or do you need to still hookup 2 cables to your computer each time? Thanks for the unboxing, looks like a really well built machine. I hope he decides to create an IR laser module at some point as a swap option.
My understanding is the MK3 is going to have modified fan controls. The IR module should be available soon and it should be backwards compatible. I don't know of plans to integrate the camera. I honestly don't know if you can transmit the different types of signals required to communicate with the laser and camera through one cable.
@@HoboWithWood Awesome that’s good to hear, I’m considering the MK2XW. I’m wondering if there will be a sort of upgrade you could do to the Mk3 as in maybe swap out a control board and fan to get that feature. I really think Roly has one of the best looking well built machines. Just don’t know yet if I should bite the bullet and jump into C02 right away for acrylics or stay with diode for now business wise. Thanks for the reply! Have a great day.
@@TheExtremeElementz IF you were to invest in a CO2, I would recommend nothing less than a 100W machine. With as powerful as the diodes are getting, spending the money on anything less than 100W just to be able to work with acrylics is a huge investment. You better be planning on a large return on your investment making acrylic items. I doubt that will be the case. A 100W CO2 or better could do your acrylics and if doing production work with woods or cork or slate, the larger machine will make short time of it. In my opinion anything less is a large waste of money. I have a 60W. I hardly ever turn it on. hobowithwood.com/roly The XW is one of the best options on the market today. There will always be something better coming. Waiting for the next best thing is never ending.
Good thing you explained about the double burns, cause in the last live ,I got lost there. I think I got it now,(if I rewatch it a couple of times 😀) thx for explaining!
Glad I could help
How do you figure out where exactly to put the hanger This piece being non symmetrical will obviously tilt to one side if you put the hanger in the center, so how did you figure out where to put it? Lately it seems this takes me more time than making the project :)
I use a 35mm sawtooth picture hanger and I put it in the center. Having the ability to slide it on the sawtooth will allow you to find its equilibrium.
I learned 3 new things, at least 3. Probably more like 5. You are always appreciated. Thank you for sharing and showing how you made this.
Awesome! Thank you!
If we miss you live we will still find you!
Hi Steve that was a late video for me in the uk 🇬🇧 but yet there was a lot of info in the content keep them coming 😊 Steven
Thanks, will do!
That looks fab x
Puts a sheriffs badge there, maybe Rosco P. Coltrane
You are like the story Don't give a man a fish but teach him how to fish...........Love your vid's 10 min. to 3 hours in for a penny in for a pound Be well and be safe,,,,,,,,,,Bill🦜
As informative as evers Steve, Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Steve sorry i missed your live after watching it have you considered putting find at north, then your at west, true at east then north at south it looks amazing
@15:25, why is it necessary to duplicate the yellow layer in order to cut it out from the black layer? Can't you just select the 2 layers, subtract and get the same effect?
The duplicate was created to create the path the needed to be deleted from the sideof the tent. If you didn't duplicate it the rope/yellow layer would have disappeared after the subtraction. This would've left a void where the rope would be. By creating the duplicate it allows me to create the void needed and still have the shape of the rope to put on a separate layer for it's own engraving settings. If you don't create the void in the black layer, it would have filled the entire area with the settings of the black layer and then the yellow layer would have engraved on top of the black layer creating a double burn and not producing the desired outcome.
@@HoboWithWood Oh got it (I think!). Thank you Steve!
I didn't get up at 3AM (fot once) this time, but since you did, you know what it's like, and you'll understand?
right to left, makes more sense?
On Compass rose, I like circular but it needs a better font. True is hard to read upside down. However, If you start the phrase "Find" in the 6-9 o'clock quadrant, "True" is on in this font.
You need to get a little ice chest that can keep your RC cool as to stream.
Seems I remember that Dimitri said that for those of us tyhat did the 10/20 watt upgrade for the MK1 that the IR MIGHT work.
Your "Show How To" streams far surpass the other channels. More bragging than showing the process.
could have big foot pulling the trailer
Love that maple.
Right to left is my vote
Right to left
I like the plaque idea. Our first responders don’t get the appreciation they deserve. I think the Statue of Liberty would be a good alternative to the badge for a 4th of July plaque. Text (United we stand Divided we fall).
Version 1 gets my vote. Text is too hard to read in version 2. I think a really straight grain ash would be goo choice for the light colored wood, and have the grain radiate outward from the center.
It would be nice if it kept the auto save versions until you delete it. What if your original gets corrupted. A history is a really good thing to have.
I never said, but I agree with you. Like left to right.
Right to left. Have you thought about doing a copper wire inlay onto it as well? Fab tutorial as always x❤
Great idea! I would want to do the wire inlay a something a little less elaborate. Maybe a copper inlay around the four points of the rose. Since that would be all straight lines, should be fairly easy to pull off. It would also be a good way of doing another Print and Cut. Creating the grooves for the wire inlay after the wood inlay is complete.
Right to left.
I know my vote is late but circular would be my choice
Sorry I was late.
It's okay this time. But next time you need to bring a note. 😎
Another great job, Steve!
Glad you enjoyed it
I have learnt so much from you already, I would love to have some guidance in a diamond or circle living hinge. Greedy, I know!
Thank you. I managed to find soloution from you.
Glad I could help
If you like the sparkle paint look up unicorn spit. Sounds crazy but it is a stain/gel with flakes in the paint. I use their blue all the time it looks great!
I'll check it out.
It's such a nice change to watch someone give useful information, instead of "look what I made - do you want to buy it?"
I am happy to teach how to make the projects I sell. Showing start to finish takes a while. My videos are longer than average. My prices on my files are also higher than average. But, once people see how much work I put into them to make them 100% Lightburn friendly and the best they can be, folks appreciate the value they are getting. Then again, you may not like the actual design I'm demonstrating, but the techniques can be used in your own designs.
Hi Steve, just tuned in to learn about LPI and Scan Angles and learnt a whole lot more on top, thank you for the great work that you do to help us all
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Steve I don’t have enough fingers and toes to say how much I have learned in this video. Steven 🇬🇧👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice job HOBO, Steve, now you HAVE to do one with a 5th WHEEL, a CLASS "A" and a CLASS "C". I think you have really started something. hehe
I hadn't planned on doing that... but over time, it wll probably end up that way.
Hi Steve. another great video. That is a "flap", used to cover a screen vent from rain, as you said.Good job again!
Yep, this one was again an easy one, if you were in the front row, (like you were I suppose) when they handed out the brains, I guess I was more in the back that day, LOL.Thx for another video with lots of new possibilities using lightburn.
