- In this episode of TFBTV, @Hoplopfheil visits Taurus to check out their new revolvers for 2024. The Taurus offerings include a single action only cowboy gun in .45 Colt and .357 Magnum, as well as a new 856 TORO chambered in .327 Federal Magnum. Taurus' sister company Heritage has a new retro detective style snub-nose revolver with a little noir flair.

Trying to frame this shot must have been the cameraman’s Vietnam
The true hero is revealed.
LOL it's funny because it true
Should’ve brought a stool for Hop… or a step stool for the Taurus fellow!
Where’s his parade?
😂
Boy, Hop needs to curb his excitement over talking to Taurus about revolvers! 😁
He really needs to calm down....he's out of control
Probably felt like he needed a shower after the spiel from the snake oil salesman.
I was thinking the same thing
Reeves won't do Taurus, so Hop gets stuck.
He looks hungover af
As a Brazilian, i am proud that you Americans loves our Taurus revolvers, but i am very angry at the same time, because in my own country, where these revolvers are made, the government denies to us the right to have them to protect ourselves.
You should have voted harder to keep your last president, instead you got a fascist banning everything
Get that commie lula out of office. And get Bolsenaro back in.
Time to change your government
Didn't bolsonaro try to ease firearms restrictions? Too bad that chicom affiliate took office there...
You tube removed my comment and another person's comment .
The Heritage snubby .38 looks like it could be a fun option at that price point if it works well enough. I have a thing for retro style firearms admittedly.
Yeah, I want to get one of the 3 and 2 inch barrels.
I see it as a good competitor to the ria 206
I think the 327 revolver is awesome. Just wish it caught on so ammo wasn't so pricey.
Easy cartridge to reload for with one exception. No one is selling jacketed bullets :(
@@nonokodog622 Thank you. This just stopped me from even considering it now.
@@chosenonewee-uuuwee-uuuwee6773 While i dont load 327 (yet) i do load for 7.62x38r and 7.62x25 which are the same bullet diameter 0.312 There are most defiantly jacket bullets availble. Hornady, sierra for sure.
I also run and reload 327 fed mag. Yes, bullets are available. You just need to look at .312 like the other person said. Get your grains right and it's fucking cake.
@@thisISaPENntits. Game on
"i like my revolvers snag free" shows revolver with super tall optic mounted
Gun comes with *optional* plate for mounting optics. In case you want to live like it's 2024 and not 1924.
@@cavalieroutdoors6036 I carry a HI Power Clone, don't call me out like that lol.
Lmao
Haha!
Exactly, this presenter is a fuckin' idiot about guns. Can't believe all the stupid shit he was saying.
Hey camera guy - stop panning away from the guns. This is why we are watching. Didn’t even show the second revolver the guy pulled out
And figure out how to focus your camera while you're at it!
Taurus used to make the Model 817. It was a 7 shot .38 special revolver with a 2 inch barrel. If they brought it back with a 3 inch barrel in .38 special or .327 Federal Magnum, it would sell like hotcakes.
Yes! I'd buy that for sure!
If Kimber can get 6 in a j frame size 38 +p, you would think we would see 7 or 8 327/32mag in a k frame/ l frame size gun.
@@robertkwiatkoski1292 Absolutely!
@@robertkwiatkoski1292 but that requires better metallurgy, and that kicks up the price point.
Revolvers don’t sell like hotcakes
Why on Gawd's green earth did Heritage use the discontinued Taurus Model 85 as the base gun for the Roscoe instead of the current and more marketable Model 856? Did they feel the need to bring the old Model 85 tooling out of storage to generate revenue? The 6-shot 856 is only 0.050" wider in the cylinder than the 5-shot Model 85. A Roscoe based on the Model 856 would be a fine tribute to the old 6-shot Colt Detective Special - itself a Roscoe.
indeed. if one wants a five shot revolver just get a taurus 85, plenty out there. i have two, which are great. i don’t care about the guts, if the skin says heritage i’m worried and not buying.
1:10 "The Iconic detective movie gun", Hop's face "big fuckin deal" !!!
Exactly what I got out of it. But for some reason, I really like these classic/heritage style pieces and I knew exactly what the salesman was saying. Doubt I’m a buyer, but I know myself; if Perry Mason or Tombstone is on in the living room and I had one of these things, it’d be filled with snap caps and dry fired at the TV. 🤦♂️
@@roaringsteelmedia 😂
@@roaringsteelmedia one great thing about this channel is that for the most part, the audience are good sports.
Hop makes that face for anything that is circumcised and or not in his mouth
Colt not re-releasing a vintage looking Detective Special is a mistake on their part IMO.
TFB is really heads and shoulders above everyone else. 🙃
Yes. Not much they overlook. 😅😊
Literally...how tall is Hop? Either he's very tall, or the guy he's interviewing is very short...or both 😉
So the Old English Outfitters review on that Roscoe, he was saying it wasn't +P but Caleb here says it is; twice in fact. Thanks for the video.
I'd 100% trust Old English Outfitters over Giddings, who's a mouth for sale.
You know, I would too. That being said I was just over at Heritage's site and they are in fact +P rated. Go figure.
Yeah, everyone in the comments were pissed it was not in +P. Yet it is +p...
I saw the correction in the pinned comments 🤷♂️
Some how OEO had a video on it before it was announced even on herritages website.
That single action cowboy gun in .45 Colt and .357 Magnum sounds like a dream for those who appreciate classic firearms.
44 special perhaps?
@@davew8694 44 mag or bust.
From all reports they are very nicely done for the price point, and they even have the four click hammer cocking, just like the Colt SAA, and you also have to do the half cock in order to open the loading gate to load/unload. That also is true to the original SAA, and is much preferred over the more modern Ruger Vaquero style that you can just open the gate and free wheel the cylinder with the hammer all the way down .
I was thinking I'm gonna go order one. Everyone puts up the knockoffs(umberti) at $600 plus and I know aint that worth that much. Last one I bought was for 350 and felt right.
It's just too bad that its another revovler limited to short/medium barrels. 6.5 or 7" wldve been nice
Isn't that the little fella who was talking out the side of his neck about Paul Harrell 🤔
Yep. Gun Nuts Caleb.
Paul moped the floor with that moron.
Edit: Forgot this guy was the dude who trashed Harrel. Had to redact my praise.
What is that pin on his breast? I cant find one online, I typed "nazi american flag pin" got nothing.
Because it's comical? He's definitely like the typical fast-talking salesman, with little-to-no integrity.
It is Caleb Giddings, former "Top Shot" competitor.
@@kenhoward3512 Do you know him ?
Natural salesman. I get why his enthusiasm comes across as disingenuous to some, but guys like that actually love the brand they rep. One of these show, a rep should really lean into the “used car salesman” trope. Full brown suit, greasy combover, and coke high vibe. It would be a hilarious way to disarm those skeptical of salespeople.
I have the Taurus 327, but mine's the snub variant. I do like it a lot; I love the .32 cartridges.
I was very impressed by Taurus 692 7 shot 357. Recoil is smoother than my Ruger gp100 6 shot, maybe due to ported barrel. Wanted to get ruger gp100 7 shot , but heard it had problems with jamming cylinder.
PERFECTION.
Old School, blued Model 82 was based, like a Model 10, before they switched to that outdoor furniture finish.
Low(er) cost alternative to the S&W J frame. 3" barrels are an excellent choice for concealed carry revolvers. Now...make it with a shrouded hammer or concealed hammer (such as the S&W Models 449/649 or 442/642)
If they were smart, they will accept S&W J frame grips and fit in the same holsters.
2:23 Hop being impressed with his math skills. 🤣 He almost lost it...he was THIS close!
I have a vintage Smith Model 36-3” bull barrel which I bought in 1992 and still have it. That Roscoe J frame with the 3” barrel looks like a Smith clone. 😊
@@robertonavarro7713 It does. Obviously different lockwork, it has a transfer bar systems and, no doubt, a coil main spring, but otherwise, yes.
S&W has dropped the 3" barrel in the J frames, and they were always difficult to find. That's a shame. Perfect barrel length for concealed carry.
It doesn't need S&W J-Frame grips, because it's just a polished Taurus Model 85 underneath that Heritage label. There are bazillions of different grip styles available for Taurus Model 85 and 856 revolvers out there.
@@garyK.45ACP Near mint Model 36-3" could sell for at least $1,000 today. You're right, sir, they are becoming rare collectors' items. Same with the vintage Colt DS, Cobras and Agents.
@@robertonavarro7713 I have 3 J frame S&Ws which I carried as off duty handguns (and now as a concealed carry handgun as a retired police officer) All are the 2" models (40, 640, 642). I preferred the DAO concealed hammer models and I never saw one of those in 3". But I think the 3" barrel is the best length.
I do have a S&W .38 Safety Hammerless, break top "Lemon Squeezer" with a 3" barrel which was my grandfather's pocket gun. But I never used that as a carry revolver.
I also have a Colt Detective Special I bought in the mid-70s. It is not a "pre-1972" model though. I actually preferred the "updated" version with the shrouded ejector and blended barrel contour for concealed carry, but most often used the "hammerless" S&W models.
If I carry a snub nosed revolver with a hammer, then it is my Model 19, 2-1/2". I LOVE that handgun. Bought it in 1974 as my first, dedicated, off duty handgun.
But, these days, retired, living in Florida, the Model 642 is just a lot _easier_ to carry. 😁
The Model 19 is my "fishing" gun. Florida doesn't allow open carry, except while "hunting, fishing or camping" so it is my open carry revolver while on my boat.
All of Hop's favourite things in one video.
- Short guys
- Revolvers
- The NRA
I have nothing but good to say about my stainless steel 856 snub I bought in April of 2023. It’s a fantastic shooter.
I fuckin love when they zoom out and hop is like 18 feet taller than the sales guy
I feel very good when USA gun channel make videos about Brazilian made firearm, specially revolvers! Taurus makes very good revolvers!
I dig it! It's refreshing to see other firearms. Other than another AR. 2011. Our glock clone
The roscoe looks cool but if it had a 6 shot sylinder. Love the way the barrel looks and the color
Yeah, they should've used the 6-shot Model 856 as the base gun vs. the obsolete Model 85. Marketing gurus at Taurus must've felt they could use the retired Model 85 tooling for more cash flow, IMHO...
I would buy one if it was a six shot. But not gonna buy a 5 shot revolver.
I was thinking the same thing. Wish it was 6 shot. Still might get one if the price is right, but the Rock Island M206 is a 6 shot snub nose 38spl, and looks a lot like the old Colt Detective Special.
Agreed, 5 shot 38 special is a bit lacking, but hoping they release it also as 6 shot 32 H&R.
@@dannyelkins2814 That or 327 Federal would be awesome.
I didn't realize Caleb Giddings is a "little person", however that does explain alot.
Yeah….Hopp is only like 5’8” tall, so this guy must be about 3 feet tall
Napolean complex.
He was normal size till Paul Harrell got through with him...
I sadly sold my S&W 686 357recently just to make a house payment due to a med emergency. I very well be buying this Taurus model to "replace" the empty spot in my gun safe.Looks awesome
i need that snub nose. patiently waiting for those to release/go in stock
not gonna lie i like the idea of a medium quality medium price cowboy revolver for the just for fun side of shooting
That first revolver looks pretty identical to the Taurus RT85 revolver sold here in Brazil. If Taurus is gonna introduce their old lines in the US, they should launch the RT86 and RT96 asap, those are their best revolvers in my opinion.
That 692 looks like a versatile revolver with all the bells and whistles!!!
It would be great if it worked.
No problems out of mine. The Taurus moon clips are junk though.
Sometimes guns can be for fun Hop (with it being a carry gun as a secondary feature).
Not every second you spend shooting a gun has to be for when this country falls apart like the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
So you take the hammer spur off a gun to make it snag free but add a huge optic?
My thought exactly. Better to have a hammer!!!
That .327 is super neat. As long as it works it seems like a great potential carry piece
I bought the deputy as soon as i could find it avaliable on websites after shot show. I truly love the piece and would recommend it to anyone looking for a single action revolver.
I've owned my Taurus 66 and CIA revolvers for about fifteen years, and they have been fantastic. I've looked at Smith & Wessons over the years but haven't been satisfied with the quality control. Definitely going to check out the new executive.
The way Hop builds report and his back and forth is unmatched. 😂
well when you have to talk to a shitbag
Hop stayed awake all the way through the SAA clone segment. Respect.
Yes, 692 3" is bad ass. Great value for money
I want a 692 titanium
1:24 Audio balance said bye bye
Sounds like the camera audio got left on in the b-roll (product focused) clip that they cut to.
Honestly, it's easy to do, especially with how many videos they're putting out with almost no time for editing: very distracting though.
@@peasant_shots i think you’re 100% right
Honestly the one I found the most interesting was the SAA. If it comes at the affordable Taurus price and the quality isn't complete shit, I could see it being a nice cowboy plinker.
You can get the Italian ones he mentioned for fairly reasonable prices. Taurus would have to be really cheap them to be worth it over them.
@@darthsquidious215 yea im wondering how cheap that would be.
This is actually something they have sold in the past. Glad to see it come back. Maybe in a year or so Rural King will have nice sales on it and the Roscoe.
I didn't realize Hop was such a skyscraper. Happy that Taurus made the move to Georgia. Seems quality and innovation have increased.
neat ideas.. now do the swappable cylinders in all platforms... why not a 45lc/45acp? or 327fedmag/32acp
That 692 Executive looks great. Not sure I can spend $1100 on a Taurus though. Think I'll wait and see how folks report how they are running.
Agreed. If you’re going to drop that kind of dough, why on earth would you not get a Colt or a S&W?? Don’t get me wrong, I own a few Taurus and Heritage revolvers. But I got them because they were inexpensive!!
Hop and those eyebrows are one step away from turning into a Volcano.
I just recently purchased a new Taurus 942 Ultra Lite Revolver in 22LR. It was defective out of the box, would not ignite any primers. Sent it back to Taurus, after waiting 3 weeks for an update they finally answered their customer service line. They said the frame was so defective they would need to destroy the firearm and issue me a new one, replacing the serial number. Wait 8 weeks for delivery and I have to do an FFL transfer AND pay for it. Just a heads up. Still waiting 15 weeks later. ….Bad !
I've been wanting a 942, they seemed to show u once, dried up and never replenished.
Doesn't bode well for the one I already bought but haven't fired yet...
i had a taurus 94 22lr revolver. impossible trigger pull. happily sold it off. after other expensive trials i have arrived at the conclusion that rimfire handgun says ruger.
What a great group of revolvers launching. Good job, Hop. I can see the "want to shoot" in your eyes.
NEW Taurus & Heritage Revolvers for 2024
RUclips is really bad about deleting my comments now. Just about every one. I really like the Heritage Roscoe with that deep blued finish both two and three inch. Beats those dull cerakote and stainless finishes. If I didn't already have a Taurus 856 Defender three inch I would be all over it. Especially for $285 market/street price. Haha. I also like the .327Mag but .38Spl. is more common, cheaper, and available than .32 caliber Magnum but .327Mag is a great carry caliber. If the Roscoe stays on the market I still might pick one up down the road, maybe a two inch.
Like Taurus, revolers and the 692 is pretty dang cool
Hop was actually on his knees for this video, that guy is just really, really short.
If you're looking at purchasing a revolver please read this. I'm not an expert but I'm definitely an aficionado and I know what I'm talking about. I'm not a Taurus hater by any means and I've owned about a dozen of their revolvers. Including Rossi and Heritage.
I will tell you to spend the extra $150 and buy a Ruger or Smith. These guns go out of time and lock up constantly. Everybody I've known who had one including the ones I've owned had to be sent back in. The internals are pot metal and the finishes rust after a couple weeks of carry. People talk about price points but it would take only a couple weeks to save up an extra $150 for the average person.
Buy once; cry once... I think the old adage goes. 💯
2:42 for duel-wielding
Except for the cylinder release, that Roscoe looks exactly like my old Interarms-Rossi 68 (which in turn looks like a Smith and Wesson Model 36.)
$350 for the roscoe seems great, also that SAA clone seems pretty good too.
327 fed mag hell yeah!
I really hope the 327 catches on. Cause right now, i cant find any ammo on the shelves. And only a select few options online.
I just saw those Rosco Revolvers on RSR earlier today and I was already messaging my boss that we need to get some for the shop.
Apparently Sasquatch cleans up and hangs out at gun shows. 🤣 I've been swinging an 856 in my rotation for years...never a problem.
I had two Tauruses come apart like that back in the day. Taurus judge cylinder fell off and the raging Bull 454. It was a party trick before it was a trick yeah trick yeah
The 38 specials look pretty. I am not a fan of revolvers but I am a fan of pop culture and they do remind me of old school detectives
Holy crap, the ejector rod doesn't even reach the retaining lug. There are gaps between the grips and the frame. That's some quality control there!
Thats not a retaining lug, its just there to stop the ejector rod from snagging, the Taurus guns lock up at the crane.
The grips dont have gaps, they are just not rounded and are slighlty oversized, the bluing & lighting is causing shadows and reflections that make them look worse.
Its a $350 revolver, and it looks a lot better than its nearest competitor the Rock Island 200s.
There is no locking bolt on the "tab" in front: it's probably just there to prevent snags and on-end impact with the ejector rod. The fitment of the grips to the frame does look pretty poor, but this is a $350 model 36: and that's MSRP. Street price would be even cheaper. No way I would buy one.
@@MandoWookie It may be just the video but the gap looks big enough for it to snag.and they could have shrouded it like Rock Island did to prevent it entirely. Don't think that would have increased the cost that much.
What we really need is an affordable Model 10
Pretty sure that is the Taurus Model 82 which is like $360 on Buds. Not an exact clone, but a very similar gun.
I concur. In the same vein as the Roscoe, I wish companies would offer a 'retro' model 10 with a tapered barrel and half-moon sight. Something like that rated for +P would be awesome.
Hop makes everyone in these booths look miniature
I put an Alchin Red Dot mount on my S&W K frame Model 617. That makes it the only 22 I have that is as functionally accurate at 25 yards as my S&W Model 41 and High Standard Citation Supermatic. The dot makes it as accurate as the iron sight Target Pistols when shot standing, off hand. Alchins are great mounts.
I’ve had a 507c on a dw 15-2 for a while and red dots on revolvers are neat.
The retro stuff is awesome
Ima Taurus, Heritage ,Rossi fan
Y'all need to tell Taurus to fix their horrible customer service experience, including selling small polymer parts to consumers if they need replacements, instead of requiring sending in for a $50 bench fee to drop in a 3¢ part.
Looking forward to a review of the j frame.
Personally I prefer any revolver to hold 6 or more rounds with a full adjustable rear sights
The Cameraman needs some training 😄
Complete mastery of the guns he presents 😮
Three things based on my personal experiences with Taurus/Heritage: (1) I support any .32 caliber offering as I’d like .32 caliber cartridges to become cheaper and more available, (2) the Heritage and the Deputy (which is a repackaged gaucho) both look cool and I’d consider buying a Deputy, but (3) I cannot recommend any Taurus/Heritage revolver for personal protection. But for fun, competition, hunting, etc, Taurus is perfectly acceptable and a good value. I’ve just had too many bad experiences to trust my life to a Taurus.
Even with Scarecrow standing over the Umpaloompa I liked that guy, and there were some cool looking guns.
Definitely reminds me on a classic 85 model
Growing boy hop is.
My Taurus 692 has been going strong for over 4 years & tons of videos pushing hard n fast like I always do with all kinds of ammo fyi! Would love the Executive
Isn’t that the same Caleb that tried to make the hit piece on Paul Harrell?
I’ve always been itching for a retro .38 Service Revolver that wasn’t either overpriced or worn out junk in a pawn shop. Taurus might have claimed the niche once again!
I enjoyed the outtake at the end of the video.
I think the heritage is a message to smith and wesson, how their 5 shot revolvers are antiquated. I agree with this.
Damn Caleb is looking smooth in a suit
That detective special looks dope.
I love every revolvee he just showed except the 2" 38 I prefer the 3* over the 2" and for the other revolver's that were showed, yes.
Did Hop lose a bet? 😂
Not bashing Taurus or revolvers. I just know Hop sees no use in handguns that aren't 9mm and semi-automatic.
