    In Uruguay is a very common breed (the work line) and it is in fact an explosive and aggressive dog, and when involved in a fight it is almost imposible to control it. A dog only for very responsible owners.
    To illustrate what I mean: a German shepherd or a Doberman can be aggressive but they always maintain a line of communication with the owner, they listen for orders or commands, while the dogo, once went into hunter mode (with another animal) doesn't listen anymore. Physical intervention is necessary to break up a fight or attack

      They were not bred to be just a pet. It is cruel to try to turn them into apartment dogs or city dogs, and an accident waiting to happen.. If raised by owners that know what they are doing, it can work out, but there are too many people out there that don't know how to bring up a dog period, yet alone a huge, high energy, aggressive dog!

    • @danielaterra3271
      @danielaterra3271 Год назад +6

      @@jimmyrussell8834 yes!!! I understand the appeal, they are majestic creatures, I love them. But they are not easy pets. In the hunts they end up severely injured because they just don't let it go. Wild boars are scary and very aggressive. Many decades ago the dogo would hunt cougars too

      @@FISTSLIKEBULLETS2 Yup, I'm in NZ and we have a lot of pig dogs bred to hold and bail pigs in very dense bush. Often too dense for a rifle to be practical, the hunters finish with a knife. Some of the holding dogs are remarkably like dogos in stature and temperament. They are a huge amount of work to control, train and socialise unless you can work them hard and often but still beautiful dogs with good nature towards people who recognise them for what they are. Bit too much dog for a family pet for most people.

      @@1998TDM pretty much my point we also have Boars in Alberta Canada now and not as crazy a you do , but we are using dogs and I have seen mixed terrier bully hounds to pure bred Rodegian , Pits , Boxers , and Argentines and others even LGD breeds and some individual dogs can be hotter and hard to get off the vermin animals or in a situation vs anything , many can do the job and still be managed around family and domestic companions with the right training , and not being bias because I have had Boxers more so than the others but have had a few dif breeds or been around but back in the 70's early 80's we had some of the best working line Boxers and they were a handful vs anything , now you have to research and find that line working lines , and agreed on your post

    I have a 110 lb dogo and pit bull terrier mix - adopted- initially told Great Dane mix. Did a dog dna test. I’m surprised by the negative views on these dogs. Mine is so sweet, but lazy couch dog type. He might do a jog 5-10 minutes, or walk most days, and he sleeps rest of the day. We’ve never had a break in at our house. Burglars know to stay away I guess. They are strong dogs, so I use a special restraint leash. Also super smart. I can teach him a new trick in under a minute. The only problem is an occasional fight over toys with my other dogs. He’s so good with my kids. I have no idea how a dogo ended up at the humane society but I’m happy we got him.

    I would argue that the Italian guy claiming his dogs were show line is completely wrong! The overly large Dogo's would be better described as petline.. Breeders filling the wants of buyers who want a huge scary looking dog! I have seen Dogo's in dog shows and the looked more like the dogo's in the working line video, not the overweight dog in the Italian video.. When breed standard tops out at 110 pounds, a 130-150lb dog with a head the size of an English Mastiff is not show line! I would also question, do a couple of guys in the UK actually have working Dogo's? What work are they doing in the UK, where all the dangerous wild animals have been killed off? There are no wild hogs, puma, coyote, wolves, bears etc.. Do they scare off the bee's? In the UK, a Staffy or Jack Russell is as big a dog that is needed to protect from wildlife, and they won't cost a fortune to feed!

Furthermore, there is no difference between what you and these people have defined as a "show Dogo" and a "working Dogo". Please refer to the AKC breed standards.

    Not surprising the show line Dogo's are overbuilt and couldn't do the job they were bred to do. The same thing has happened with Labradors, Golden retrievers, and many other breeds. Oddly, the show lines are last stronghold for Great Danes. Show line Danes are still athletically built. It is the pet line Danes in many areas that are grossly overbuilt and unhealthy.

    There's no show or working . It is just the Dogo Argentino. If we go to the original standards and old pictures you will see that those are the original traits. Slim , muscular, athletic. The one presented in the video as "show" dogo is just an overweight dogo. I'm sorry but you are destroying the breed standards

    Look at all the breeds that were put Together to create the dogo one breed is extinct the cordoba fighting dog of Argentina it was said that it couldn't work with a pack in the hunt as it would on its pack and attack them even wen they tried breeding them a female and a male almost aways ended up fighting which lead to the end of them

    Your example of a”showline”Dogo is inaccurate and is not to breed standard. If you watch Westminster or any other show 100% of the dogs look like the working dogs. Huge misinformation

      @@c.costanza1145 their's only one Pitbull and that's the Apbt.
      They all go under the "bull terrier breeds" banner as does the Apbt.
      English bull terrier, miniature bull terrier, Staffordshire bull terrier,American Staffordshire terrier, American Pit bull terrier.... Some would also consider the gull terr and Indian bull terrier although neither have recognition with any kennel clubs.
