I bought one second-hand. Very happy with it
But here's a warning! I had to replace the bridge as the intonation screws had stripped the threads in the bridge.
I think that's because the bridge material isn't good enough to set the intonation with full string tension on.

I've not experienced that thankfully! Maybe that's something which can happen over time if it's second hand. I'll watch out for it. Loving this little guitar, it's so easy just to pick up and take anywhere. Keep rockin'

just got one a few hours ago. everything seems in order already. intuned , good action. already packed to take it to work tomorrow. it seems very promising. made a strap connected to a cord to the headstock, but still working on it. palm muting is a challenge.
equipped with a pocket pod, can't wait.
only one thing.. low e string, fret 7 a little buzzing. stock strings very poor quality, frets to be polished. other than that, love at first sight. by the way it is a 2 hb model.
the full lenghth board is what sold me. those blackstar and squier mini with a mini fretboard did not convince me at all, they look like a toy. this one too, but classy

Haters can only do one thing : Hate... That's why they're called haters 😄😄
So far I own 7 : Two original German-made '82, a 2007 pink one, a 2014 black one and two brand new others, a green one and a gold one and lastly a red Deluxe model with two Humbuckers...
I wouldn't compare them to my full-sized guitars of course but they're fun to play, comfy and they sound LOUD especially considering the small size...
Every time I get one I will level the frets, shield the cavities, install tusq nuts and maybe locking tuners...
The stock Humbuckers on the Chinese reissues are okay but I always replace them with something different each time...
The wraparound bridges are always replaced too...
As for the neck dive my own personal solution is to attach something slightly heavy ( but not so heavy ) on the strap that goes behind my back...And there are lots of cool things around...
I might even figure out a way to install a tremolo on some of them in the future...
I take them on stage regularly and they're reliable solid performers...

Wow, that's a lot of Hofners! I do like mine, but I totally agree with your upgrades. It's a surprisingly cool little guitar. I think I'll hold on to it. When I've got time I'll do a fret level and some hardware upgrades. I've got a Seymour Duncan Slash pup and some hipshot locking tuners lying about... overkill? Yes. Fun? Absolutely! Keep rockin'🎸🤘
