    All joking aside, for the money this is the finest guitar I have ever played that is around $1,000. Absolutely fantastic. PRS knocked it out of the park with this one. For a guitar with a wide- fat neck it plays and fits my hand very well. This axe is worth every penny

    First off that's got to be safer than simply putting it in a cardboard box with a little packing. And second I would of already assumed I was going to restring and replace the nut. Would you be disappointed if it had no strings at all? Feel cheated? I would of been surprised if a used guitar I bought came with strings!

    • @appetiteforguitar
      @appetiteforguitar 7 часов назад

      Well, the strings thing is ok. The broken nut is not. It takes a bit of skill and time to replace it properly. If it had been disclosed, all good. It wasn't. Just means I've got to do it when I can or pay someone else. Thankfully the seller took responsibility and it's all good. More videos coming up on this one. Keep rockin'

    That packaging is crazy! Fortunately pre-slotted nuts are relatively inexpensive. I bought a Gibson Challenger I a few years ago that arrived in a flimsy gig bag flopping around inside of a Charvel box--miminal padding in the box. Fortunately for me it arrived undamaged. It had a couple of strings wound the wrong way around the posts, too.

    • @appetiteforguitar
      @appetiteforguitar 2 дня назад

      Well, I think it's had quite a life in a very rough smoke den lol. It's been banged about a bit and smells of old tobacco in the cavities. Lavender and fresh air is sorting the smell thankfully. So it's been used... but you are right though the frets are a bit corroded, but are actually barely worn - they seem in great condition with some TLC. My guess is the previous owner had it, mucked about with it and jumped around with their mates. I can feel from the neck and the general build that it is a great guitar waiting to be unleashed. I'll put the time in as I can. I might even refinish it, put in some Seymour Duncans and Hipshot tuners I have sitting unused from other guitars. More videos incoming, stay tuned! 🎸😎

Having said that, it's all good now - the seller made things right and I'm going to get this fixed up one way or another. The guitar itself actually has very solid bones - with TLC it's going to be great. Not ok whatsoever. Dishonest seller for not mentioning. You’d have to find a nut that has the same string spacing or create one from scratch. Also, have to get new strings and set up. I could let the latter slide, but having to find a nut is more of a hassle and then the install as well.

    Did you look through the packaging for the missing chunk of the nut? I had one do that on an Ibanez Artcore while changing strings (just prior to driving half-way across the US to play a fundraiser with some friends). Super glue put it back together and it has held for over a year. I once received a Charvel bass with the end of the headstock snapped off past the tuner for the string tuned to G. Bass was single boxed, seller claimed that they always double boxed instruments. Photos proved otherwise... It's always a risk, but historically, I've had pretty good luck buying and selling online.

    Back in 1989 when i started playing guitar, the amp that I had was chorus and reverb. As the late 90s gaine don us i was fascinated about the Line 6 because you had clean, crunch and metal. Lets not forget chorus and Delay. Now these amps are dirt cheap on the secondary market. I think for nostalgic reasons these amps are great. I will ve looking for a line 6 spyder head for a cab that was given to me.

      You need to research each purchase, find out as much as possible, and most importantly, know what kind of questions to ask the Seller. What my GrandMa used to tell me "You only get what you pay for, and that's if you are lucky". Nothing wrong with purchasing used guitars online, I've been doing that since the late 1990s with zero problems. No real need to play before buying, good side photos of the neck, and most importantly, a good close up photo of the truss rod nut (Gibson only). Ask the Seller if the truss rod works, if Seller doesn't understand what you are asking, you shouldn't purchase from them.

      Thanks! It seems like a great cheap guitar... the foundations are there. Even in its beaten-down state it feels really solid and good in the hand. It's very hard to play right now with old corroded strings/frets and I don't think it's ever had a set up. I'll fix the nut and do a proper review on it. I was going to take it to a luthier - it is going to be a time sink as it needs a fair bit of attention, but I'm going to set aside a few hours and sort it. Lots of interesting videos incoming! The reviewer goes on about the three piece neck. I have the amber version of this guitar and the back and neck is finished in a lovely red shade which shows the three piece neck and it's gorgeous. Some claim that a two or three piece neck offers improved stability which is a plus. I have to say that I am not a luthier so I am not making this claim but only offering the suggested wisdom of others. It's a fantastic guitar and you will pick them up second hand for less than £750.

    • @appetiteforguitar
      @appetiteforguitar 6 дней назад

      The reviewer... yes that's me! I love this guitar. The neck is my favourite part - it feels great. The neck is 'multi-ply' as per their website and they don't specify how many pieces, so it's mostly by sharing info between us we find out how many/if they are consistent. I concur re stability... it should in theory help in that department. The amber version you have is a beauty. I would get one too, but I think my wife would get a bit upset! I may get a DGT at some point for the tremolo though... I recorded a one year update on Paul's guitar here if you are interested: ruclips.net/video/TBXLFiXNPPc/видео.html

      No worries, glad it is helpful! My x2 Epi Studios are separated by decades, but the neck profiles are really similar despite the years between them and being made in a completely different factory. Hard to say for sure with a 1993 but it's probably not far off. Maybe someone who has one from '93 will chime in...

    I bought one of the earlier grote jazz guitars a couple years ago and I love it. It's a lovely guitar and a pleasure to play. Seems to me their quality is quite good when you keep the price range in mind. I have two Ibanez art core series guitars (a matching set) and the frets were sharp when I received them.
