Great little bass for the money and much more appealing than the more modern looking Shorty it’s replacing.

Just bought one. Perfect little bass. The Chinese do make beautifull instruments like my one. Love it.

I've got a "standard" violin bass but I have never really liked the narrow string spacing at the bridge. This Shorty with its P Bass style bridge looks to have much wider string spacing so that makes me very interested.

I have the kidney shaped bass shorty & I love it. I bought it as a practice bass to take to work & use during my lunch breaks, I became very attached to it. There's loads of neck dive, but after playing it for a good while, I didn't notice any neck dive, I had gotten so used to it & played it without any issues. One thing that needs to go, on these basses, THE STRINGS! The stock strings are terrible & make the bass sound awful, at least the ones on mine did. Once I changed them & setup the neck & bridge, it sounded great, it sounded so great I gigged with it, it sounds amazing through the amp in live performances. I also love the 80s vibe of mine, even had a fair amount of compliments concerning the bass & its sound from bass players at a few gigs I played at.
I'd like the violin version, as the pickup is closer to the neck for that warmer deeper bass tone.
    A great review, thank you.
    Bless

Hello, Can you tell me if the bass has neck dive when using a strap?

It does, but I haven’t really noticed when I play

The neck dive goes away after you play it regularly, you'll get used to it & not notice it after playing for awhile.

Habitat: Grows on moist upland woods and slopes." the same was done by vikings using the fibres from the bark to make ropes .....

And the terrible neck dive? It’s a typical rocker thing to support the neck with the left hand. Rubbish technique and limiting your skills but hey it’s rock and roll. 🤔

Very poor review. You said short scale several times, you could have specified exactly what the scale is; 30", 32" etc. Also would have helped to give specs of nut width, neck profile... And how these compared to the standard Hofner Beatle bass. Hollow or chambered body?
Also, what kind of strings does it ship with; flats, rounds, gauges?
All in all a very superficial review lacking crucial details. But thanks anyway, at least we know its 'plumby'.. :/
