suede and nubuck are all leather but one isn't necessarily more "processed" or "engineered" more/differently than the other. Suede (the "hairy" leather) is from the underside of the hide and nubuck is from the exterior.
It’s all processed differently to get different results. Treatment for PU coating or treatment for dying a color. One gets buffed and one gets brushed. Different chemical baths etc.
For ppl that don’t know suede is leather that has most of the gain/structure sliced off. The hairier the suede, the worst it is but for some reason ppl like myself love it and hold it in high regard. Nubuck isn’t gna have the plastic spray on it like all the leather pairs and will have gain left in it. Nikes “leather” is gna be hairy suede with plastic sprayed all over it to resemble gain leather. Which is why the shoes are “softer”. So the nubuck is the way to go closest thing to the Georgetown

I like this suede version better. Im not a Jordan 1 guy, but i like these. Theres those who are mad that they're not like the original but i think these look better. These might be the 1st Jordan 1 i get, like i said im not a Jordan 1 fan.

I grew up in the 80s and 90s so I remember all the original releases that I wasn't able to buy as a poor kid. I appreciate a lot of the same things you talk about being a little bit of an older sneaker guy. I also really love your Since Apparel line and have bought multiple items. Not a bad reimagined Air Jordan but i'm passing. My '17 Royals are pretty beat but they still clean up well and i just prefer regular leather / closer to OG over most of these reimagined versions. I do like the bigger swoosh , the wings logo and the toe box and i do think the end result is clean. But suede can be a bit of a headache that i tend to avoid when i can ; durability / fragility concerns , easy to get dirty , trickier to clean and as the vid mentioned can warp over time. Not bad at all but a bit too high maintenance for me when i already have the 2017 Royals still in the rotation. And personally i like to keep it simple with AJ1s with the regular leather often used rather than patent or suede etc.
When I first saw these, I didn't really like them. They looked cheap from the pictures I saw, but then I saw this video when it came out and they looked much better than they did in the pictures. I still wasn't sure if I would get them but I did end up getting a pair and received them yesterday. They look really nice in hand so I'm glad I bought them.

I ended up returning my pair yesterday. I can’t justify paying $198 after taxes for something that will probably go on sale soon. I heard through the grapevine that certain outlet stores in the greater Southern California area like Camarillo have been offering them for 30% off retail price on the hash wall, but I have yet to see those deals in person.
Looking back i got a pair of these on sale near holiday 2023 as a gift from a friend who got me into the sneaker game…….but man……Nike fumbled these hard. The concepts were endless! They couldve made a gold mine off the amount of concepts they couldve done………. They couldve made these tumbled leather nubuck patent leather a mix of each of the three or better yet a lost and found!!! Yet gave us “suede” bruh no one wants that fake fancy foofoo suede. I only got em because last time the royals came out i was 16 in high school and couldnt afford them back then. So i got these because the royals are my favorite og colorway (blue breds) and royal blue is my favorite shade of my favorite color. The reimagineds are okay id give em a 6-7 out of 10 because i was disappointed in the choice of materials. But color way timeless! Hopefully the real royals return one day or at least a high 85 cut royal releases!
People are just mad that they can’t resell them or brag about it being 400 plus on the resell market. I bought them because they look mad clean, at least in my opinion. And yes, I also own the royal 1 leather pair.
Grabbed a size 8 this morning & due to the material they are a little more snug & the suede was messed up a little but went back & got a 8.5 good fit & the material was way better

I still have my 2017 pair and I agree they look great for being 6 going on 7 years old. Honestly the royal blue lace swap looks nice. I may put the blue laces in when and if i get a pair. I still think to me the 2013 shade of royal is my favorite.

Idk why, I own 3 pairs now and out of all of them, these are hands down the most comfortable pair on me…
I noticed right away when lacing them up the laces are thicker and higher quality than the other AJ1s!
