@Davide Luce would love to be "not relevant" as Madonna. I mean... she still is on TOP 200 Most streamed artist ever in both Spotify and RUclips and is the only Artist alive that started in the 80's on the TOP 200 most streamed list. Her concerts tours still break records and after almost 40 years her albums with new songs still peak #01 in some countries and TOP 5 in almost all world countries. She is not the Most famous and most wanted woman on face of the Earth but saying Madonna is not relevant is a bit much when she is still one of the persons traditional media publish more news about using only her social media info as source - she clearly still sells newspapers and magazines for them. (Not comparing but a lot of 90's biggest starts can't even get an album on most countries TOP 40 Charts - like Mariah Carey and others). About clothes... well both magazine and TV shows always comment on Madonna clothes so it's not weird she would get her clothes for free as all celebrities. Even Z list celebrities I know get clothes for free...
@Davide Luce Madonna is still considered one of the most important fashion ICONs EVER - It's not me saying. Just read VOGUE, Harper's Bazaar and every other fashion magazines (at least outside US - I'm in Europe). By the way, I was just pointing facts that prove you're talking non sense not writing essays (critically Madonna latest album was pretty acclaimed as well if you just checked out critics reviews and awards outside US would know that it's not just about the numbers).
When I heard this song for the first time on the radio back then, I didn't know it was Madonna, and I already was a huge fan. Then I saw the video!!! You know, those days without the internet. ;)
I was the same first time I heard love takes time on radio. Thought it was Whitney. When found out it was MC I died. We had to rely on radio DJs back then lol
Alisson Júnior. It was a concerted effort among Madonna fans to push the album to the number one spot it richly deserved all these years later. It was a “Justice for Bedtime Stories” movement. It charted at #3 in 1994.
All 4 music videos from the Bedtime Stories era are different, unique and interesting. You can't even compare them. I love all 4 singles but Take a Bow and Secret are my favourites. Forbidden Love, Survival, Sanctuary are amazing non-singles
Bedtime Stories era was aesthetically influenced by Jean Harlow, its music style is basically R&B. I love this era so much, it was my first Madonna era that I lived through! Amazing!!
It had that 70’s/80’s Brooklyn feeling to it. Well in 1983 Madonna said she wanted to rule the world, with her hard work and tinesity ( I’m not sure how it’s spelt) she did it and still reigns supreme in my eyes. Her music, music videos, fashion, views will be etched in history.
I remember trekking to Harlem to get a glimpse of her in the sidewalk shot... it was incredibly rewarding. Not like today where they would have shut down a mile radius. Perhaps my favorite Madonna ballad. The video is one of her finest and that is saying a lot given her videologue.
Critically underrated and sublimely coherent. In my opinion- one of her finest. Love this song and the video. Personally- I think one of her greatest ballads appears on Bedtime Stories- “Love Tried To Welcome Me”. Also- it was really Madonna that pulled this into a more funk/R&B feel. Initially Shep Pettibone had it sounding much more like Erotica. The initial demo actually was entitled “Something’s Coming Over Me” until “... My baby’s got a secret” became the end of the refrain!! Good ear, my friend!! I don’t know if anyone truly knows “the secret”. I’ve heard everything from God to heroin.
Best Madonna song and video ever of her entire catalog. Some people say this song is about masturbation, you know "happiness lies in your own hand, it took me much too long to understand, until you shared your secret with me. You knew all along what I never wanted to say. Until I learn to love myself I was never ever loving anybody else". I could be. But I think the meaning is much deeper than that. Something to do with spirituality or religion, and unity among people of all kinds, black, white, straight, gay. Actually in the live performance from the Drowned World tour she uses a backdrop video where you can see people performing rituals from all religions in the world. That backdrop video is genius too. I've been listening to this song since 1994. My favorite Madonna song. And I still can't fully know the deeper meaning of the song. And that cryptic mystery about it is what makes it so fascinating. Besides the beautiful addictive beat and the gorgeous video of course.
Yes!!!!! You got the meaning of the song. Remember : it was previous to her ray of light era. Times of self discovering, spiritual times and, of course, being a mother. That's why you have a kind of baptism on the video cause it shows a new beginning in her life. The video also shows people touching themselves on places Madonna had done. Because it means that when you realize about this "secret" you have to share it to others for them to find happiness
Bad Girl must be the next reaction......i love the video and song.....

This is Madonna doing damage control after the "IN YOUR FACE" Erotica Era. Stuck between two big albums (Ray of light and Erotica) Bedtime stories was/is underrated.
Agree... astute comment. And you are correct... one of her most underrated albums. This song is a stunning achievement that demonstrates how Madonna can easily transition from one sound to another and completely reinvent.
You are right Derek. This song was named "Something is coming over" when she was working whit Shep Pettibone, the producer of Erotica album (and Vogue). Whe she decided change the sound of her album, she changed the producer and the song and its title changed. Btw, You have to react to Erotica album.
That time this song was well played on radio and tv. Cosidered one of her best song due to the new dance beat of the 90's. I love it so much and thx for you reactions.
Yesssss!! Thank you 🙏🏻 I was waiting for your reaction for when the beat dropped!! 🤣🤣🤣 Still gives me goosebumps even now!! Amazing song!! That’s what I love about Madonna... her songs provoke thoughts and questions and makes you use your brain to work out what she is singing about and most of her songs can be interpreted in different ways! ❤️❤️❤️ How many artists can you say do that these days!? One of a kind... long may she reign ❤️👑❤️👑❤️👑
I remember like yesterday when I watched the premiere of this video back home in Brazil. I didn’t like this song that much just after listening/watching it, but I grew on me and it’s one of my all time favourite. I love her look as well. The whole album was a present to her fans as we were a bit upset of how people were treating her and saying that she was over. It wasn’t her first or her last comeback.
This song was Madonna consecutive 36º TOP 10 single in UK. This is an all time record among all artists (Cliff Richard comes second with 24). Sadly "Take a Bow", Madonna's longest #01 in US was her first single to miss UK TOP 10 peaking at #16 in UK Single Charts.
Love it!!! The next Madonna tour you react to should be The Drowned World Tour. It was her first tour she did after The Girlie Show, which was an 8 year break from touring. The show was her first since she released Bedtime Stories, Ray Of Light, and Music albums and the film Evita, so it included many first time performances of her songs on tour with a few greatest hits at the end. Definitely worth a watch! 🙂
I love the song but it's hard to get excited about it because it's such a incredibly chill tune. Whenever I hear it my blood pressure goes down. She looks fabulous
Me encantan tus comentarios y como disfrutas escuchar diferentes géneros musicales te felicito! Cuando puedas ve el concierto sticky & sweet tour de Madonna en Buenos Aires Argentina. Saludos desde Puerto Rico!
Could be my top 3 best Madonna song ever. I remember the first time I heard it, Madonna had me shook. I had no idea she had that in her. I really miss this Madonna. Shes still experimental but not in the amazing way she was in this time.
Love your reactions man! Check out some of her remixes Human Nature (Chorus Door Slam With Nine Sample) Some of the remixes are like new versions of her amazing catalog.
When this came out, among the group I hung out with, a lot of trans woman told me that they felt this was their sing with their partners. I know some relate it with maybe a secret love child. I mean all art is subjective. I just got so much happiness watching my friends have meaningful glances with partners they couldn't always reach out to. Or the way they would light up when "your song" comes on.
One of my favorite albums of Madonna. It was a treat to hear it live during Rebel Heart Tour in Los Angeles. Bedtime Story is an amazing visual video (and vocal)
Bedtime stories was my first cassette tape. I have to play the album from from front to back. Omg you’ll love Madonna I’ll remember 1995. You should totally check it out
Directed by Melodie McDaniel who was primarily known for her strong black and white still photography. Wikipedia has a bunch of interesting info on the filming of the video.
Actually, her music career started in New York city and she get so much influence there for her first works. She had a rock band Breakfast Club and she was very active in the dance and underground scene back then.
this madonna song is wonderful dude! I recommend that you make a reaction to a song by Faith no More, which is called "Evidence", really when I heard this song, I don't know why I remembered the Groove of this Madonna song, hahaha, but musically it brought me that similarity, try to find his video clip, which is wonderful too, greetings from Chile!
Nice song. Also she looks stunning here. (If possible Dereck) please consider reviewing the official video of Erasure, singing "Always". It' their best song (imo). Cheers ✌️
One of the top songs of the 90's for me... At that time, the public didn't know, what the secret was, but after some months it was announced :) In the video it is hinted several times, if you know what to look at ;) During that time, she was pregnant.. with her first child. ;))
This has the same bass line as Dream On by Aerosmith (a lot faster, obviously) but I love how completely different it sounds. I was so put off by this album when it came out. But over the years it has risen to become one of my favourite albums. Definitely one of her most consistent.
YEEEES!!! Secret is MASTERPIECE!! Bedtime Stories.... what an album
I Agree and Erotica also up there.
How lucky are we as Madonna fans to watch Dereck fall in love with Madonna right before our very eyes ❤
"Happiness lies in your own hands" A Madonna song is never effortless, so much work and collaborations and layers, samples.....
Sure, but the beauty is that at the end if feels effortless. That's why Madonna is often imitated, never duplicated ;)
@Davide Luce who did you met? Madonna? She lived in Lisbon for 2 years and everyone I know that met says the opposite.
@Davide Luce would love to be "not relevant" as Madonna. @Davide Luce who are you... I mean your account is not even 1 month old... aren't you a troll?... Not to offend but it feels weird...

This album is a Masterpiece. On april 2020 Bedtime Stories has just reached the No. 1 on the US iTunes chart after 26 years from its release.
Why?
@@Melb1 about why the album reached No1 again or why the album is a masterpiece?
Alisson Júnior. Why it reached number 1 in 2020?
Alisson Júnior. It was a concerted effort among Madonna fans to push the album to the number one spot it richly deserved all these years later. It was a “Justice for Bedtime Stories” movement. It charted at #3 in 1994.
@@joelscottarnold3262 iTunes isn't "real" though. Streams will never compare with buying an actual album.

Forbidden Love, Survival, Sanctuary are amazing non-singles
Sanctuary is one of her best
@@Mysicalgreenunicorn03 Can't argue with that!!!
Hugely underrated album... it should have deserved so much more
Love take a bow the most. she's so gorgeous. But I have to be one of those and say I'm not a fan of the bull fighting in it 😑😔
Bedtime Stories era was aesthetically influenced by Jean Harlow, its music style is basically R&B. I love this era so much, it was my first Madonna era that I lived through! Amazing!!

She wasn't doing Any Kind of damage control, Madonna never ever Apologized, and she never will
Megastar showing respect to black. Asian. Trans. people in the 90"s...way ahead of the curve.

I absolutely wore this song out back in the day. It's doesn't get much better than this!
(Love tried to welcome me) on bedtime story's is so beautiful a must to react to 💗
Yes ,an underrated ballad!
Yup. Secret is one of her best ballads ever. Such a beautiful, stripped back, hypnotic track.
That time this song was well played on radio and tv. Cosidered one of her best song due to the new dance beat of the 90's. I love it so much and thx for you reactions.
Happiness lies in your own hands.

"Until you share your...pizza with me! Mmmm mmmm. sausage, pepperoni, Mmmm mmmm. sausage, pepperoni, Mmmm mmmm. sausage, pepperoni and cheese...my baby's bringing pizza"
I agree about it being retro. I grew up in the 70's. It's 70's, but not quite. There is something compelling and soulful about it.
You should react she singing it live on Drowned World Tour.
@Davide Luce no, she didnt... ruclips.net/video/MmCes0arawk/видео.html
@Davide Luce you're so wrong!!!
That was the absolute peak along with "music" of that tour

Madonna's tribute her love for BBC only surpassed by her love for BLC
