“Kept updating the game on a regular basis” Shows update 2.0 2.1 and 2.2 the three longest updates which combined make up like 90% of the games lifetime
The timeline in this video is a bit messy, he was talking about the updates in 2014 at that point so it wasnt actually misinformation, but for some reason he just showed updates that werent released at that poiny
He also said that bloodbath was the previous hardest demon before bloodlust, which is not true at all lol. I’m PRETTY sure it was Erebus, though correct me if I’m wrong
Not me knowing all of this already but watching it all the way through so that I can boost it in the algorithm, causing less people to think I’m crazy when I tell them that I play Geometry Dash for a living
@@lordadz1615 yeah it's honestly crazy if you think about how there's no battle pass or anything in game. Like $3 is nothing for all the things you get access to.
As a GD player, here are all the mistakes 6:21 - It was 1.1 that added mirror portals 7:05 - Customization was in 1.0 10:56 - Demon levels were added in 1.3, 1.6 just added the first official one 13:12 - 2.1 added object rotation, 2.0 added object movement 13:55 It was a remake, not a buff 14:54 It was not made in the editor, rather by having code modify the games savefile to place objects more precisely
bloodlust is a remake but the bloodbath part is buffed significantly, also spu7nix made what in the editor technically because that's where it is but he most likely did go into the editor for a lot of the creation process
@@tyronium2 The editor for "what" was basically just the tool that converted the code he wrote to make the level into GD thus eliminating a need to code something to do that for him. The editor was also used yes but most of the level was made by coding, not by using the editor, which is also why the level in the editor is extremely confusing.
Very well put together video! Glad to see some Everyplay appreciation since lots of people don't even think about that anymore. Worth noting that I recently asked RobTop what he thinks made this game successful in an AMA and he claims it's the editor (ESPECIALLY how easy it is to share/browse levels, even without an account at first) and custom music (so levels don't just use the same songs over and over). Also worth noting that unlike the Impossible Game there's actually an incentive to play online levels - most of the game's rewards are tied to them

Great video overall, but as a person who has been playing GD consistently for 5 or 6 years at this point. I'd like to point out some mistakes you made in this video. 1. Mirror portals were added in 1.1. 2. Custom levels have been a thing ever since 1.0. 3. Demons were added in 1.3, 1.6 just introduced the first official demon level. 4. Rotate triggers were added in 2.1, move triggers were added in 2.0. 5. Bloodlust was a remake, not just a buff. 6. WHAT wasn't entirely made in the editor, a lot of it was made with the help of a programming language that the creator of the level Spu7nix wrote and a script that managed to turn video into GD objects by simulating evolution. I'd also like to point out the usage of gameplay by GuitarHeroStyles/AdvyStyles since he's done terrible stuff and doesn't deserve any recognition due to his actions so using footage recorded by him doesn't really feel right.
The difference is that the impossible game wasn't made with love, and didn't have a level editor btw mirror portals came in 1.1, not 1.2 also don't forget the custom songs, one of the most important features of 1.9
I don't know if the Impossible Game had this or not or if Geometry Dash already had this when it first came out, but I feel like music is one of the most important reasons why people stuck with the game too. The idea of music sync with the clicks and the level is mesmerizing and just makes playing levels such a fun time! Not only did the original levels have music, but anyone could make a song and put it on a platform (Newgrounds, etc.), and then anyone could make a level that syncs with the song choice. Geometry Dash would not have survived nearly this long if that music aspect was never a thing.
Some of the information is wrong tbh, demon difficulty was added in 1.3, not 1.6. Also at 11:40, it wasn't only because of demon levels, its one of the reasons why the game stayed alive but it was also because of the community that the game stayed alive.
It's also worth emphasising the evolution of the creating side of the community during those 6 years. With that much time, dedicated creators only got more and more skilled at the editor - finding new ways to further push the limits in both gameplay and visuals. And you can see this change if you compare levels from each year of 2.1. Not only this, but the GD space on youtube was booming with content, particularly showcase channels, which previewed the most recent masterpieces to come out of the editor. These videos are VERY popular and can reach far beyond just the GD community, only drawing more players in. Plus the fact, they inspire new creators to try projects of their own, thus continuing the positive feedback loop. At around this time as well, Robtop was becoming more active in the community - rating more levels, assigning more moderators and generally interacting with the community more. Morale rose greatly and with the influx of new moderators and level rates, getting a rated level was no longer as elusive as it used to be. Newer creators could shine without having to wait years for recognition. To top it off, Rob also regularly previewed upcoming features of 2.2, provided updates on its progress and answered a lot of the community's most asked questions. I believe this is the main reason Geometry Dash has kept its momentum for all this time.
i love how 90% of the viewers are gd players who already know all this because they lived through it, but they still watch it cus its a good video and so it gets boosted in the algorithm.
Very good video, just please learn how to put things in chronological order. It kept going back and forth and it was hard to follow, it goes to 2020 then straight back to 2014 in 3 seconds.
Love the editing man, great job on this. I've been around the Geometry Dash community for a long time and seeing how the game refused to die after 6 whole years with no updates is more fascinating than you'd imagine.
Awesome video! I've been a part of this 10 Year journey since the beginning, and honestly it's so mesmerizing how a single update took more than half of the games lifetime to be finished and released. I've met so many awesome people in this community and I'm very positive about the future of this game.
My guy this video has mistakes, for example the mirror portal wasn't added in 1.2, it was in 1.1 and the Demon difficulty wasn't added in 1.6, that was when RobTop released the first demon and some more but still this is a great video my guy :)
Bro , if your video couldn't even have accurate information after 2 months of not uploading anything then that just shows you don't care about the game.
Isn't 2.2 already out? Technically geometry dash isn't completely dead in order for it to completely die out it has to have no updates being added and the developer will have to retire or if it runs out of sales
I've been in the GD Community for over half its lifespan and wanted to say this video is super well made. I always find it interesting that this game stood the test of time as well as it has and how creators and players always find new ways to make the game so enjoyable and worthy of coming back to, which is something that I really like about this $4 cube game.

the fact that geometry dash kept growing over the years is insane. in 2018 the game was in its decline, its lowest was about 2k players. but fast forward to 2019 and the game somehow peaked at about 4k players, and then 2020 with 6k players, 2021 with 10k players peak, 2022 with 16k players peak, and then finally 2.2... which peaked at 80k players... of course player count went down, but it still averages about 20k players.
I love that the fact that you decided to add Michigun in one of the top 3s (3spikes) and that keeps reminding me how of a fucking legend he is fly high Michigun🕊️
Among the level editor, demon difficulty, I think you missed one important thing that made the game so popular and long-living. The 1.9 update, since which players could use custom songs (not just the songs from official levels by robtop) from newgrouds. Music is a really important part of GD, saying this as a kind of old-gen haha (playing since 2016)

I like how your example of a feature added by updates that improved the game is the mirror portal, one of the most widely hated features in all of Geometry Dash
i hate how you got EVERY SINGLE DETAIL WRONG. Demons were added in 1.3, not 1.6, mirror portals were in 1.1, not 1.2, moving objects were in 2.0, not 2.1, etc. this really annoys me
When he said "And this isn't even the hardest level anymore, it's like only #4 on the demon list" I had goosebumps, idk why but I just had a "Jeez I can't believe silent clubstep is #4 now dude.."
I would like to say putting aside your great editing, content, and effort you put into these videos, getting to over 100k subscribers and over 7 million views with four videos is amazing. I look forward to your future videos!!
The level editor is definitely what made the game blow up. By allowing the players to make gd what they wanted it to be robtop unknowingly allowed the game to evolve in amazing ways where players could really surprise others what the game could be. That's how we got the game to be as popular as today.

You should make a video about the most hated vr creator pursuit vr
i don’t think he will do that, pursuit VR is in gorilla tag
I found you channel when it was new and I know it takes a lot of time and research to make these vids and I appreciate you for these videos and I love all of them
Extremely well made video! Im impressed by the in depth analysis of the history of the game!
"2.1 added moving objects"
No it didn't
"2.1 added uhhh cool editor stuff"
Elaborate
"2.1 added so much more!"
NO IT DID NOT
"2.1 is the biggest update by far!!!"
AAAAUUUUGHHHH
What A Great Documentation On Such Game!

I feel like you got things wrong on purpose just to piss people off lmao
yeah like the “updated on a regular basis”
It might be a tradition now for RUclipsrs to randomly get banished to the gulag and never return😭🙏
That spaceuk one hit different lol
bro you are grinding subs great job man
Bros about to disappear like all the other RUclipsrs he talked about
Amazing video props!!!
Bro quit like fe4rless 😭
pulled a fearless and didn’t upload for 2 months fr fr 😭
I love this community! Also imagine this video gets nominated for 2024 best video in the GD awards.
This is basically the story of how the community made sure to keep the game alive based purely on passion due to the lack of updates, god I love this community
Literally heard this like 10 times but the algorithm knows I play gd so here I am
I like how your example of a feature added by updates that improved the game is the mirror portal, one of the most widely hated features in all of Geometry Dash
i hate how you got EVERY SINGLE DETAIL WRONG. Demons were added in 1.3, not 1.6, mirror portals were in 1.1, not 1.2, moving objects were in 2.0, not 2.1, etc.
this really annoys me
Womp womp
“Updates on a regular basis”
When he said "And this isn't even the hardest level anymore, it's like only #4 on the demon list" I had goosebumps, idk why but I just had a "Jeez I can't believe silent clubstep is #4 now dude.."
earliest I’ve ever been to a kalex video lets go
I’ve played this game a lot and I’ve been waiting so long for the new update since 2020 and now I’ve finally played 2.2 in 2024
6:21 mirror portal in 1.1 not 1.2
Why most people who uploaded geometry dash videos has a war thunder sponsor
The research is a bit off (mainly the timeline) still a good video
I would like to say putting aside your great editing, content, and effort you put into these videos, getting to over 100k subscribers and over 7 million views with four videos is amazing. I look forward to your future videos!!
11:04 DO NOT USE GUITARS FOOTAGE, LET ALONE SUPPORT HIM. HE DID A BAD THING
The level editor is definitely what made the game blow up. By allowing the players to make gd what they wanted it to be robtop unknowingly allowed the game to evolve in amazing ways where players could really surprise others what the game could be. That's how we got the game to be as popular as today.
A GD video from you was very unexpected
