Hey 👋🏽 AB 🥰thanks so much for sharing, that’s how I like 👍🏽 my Pinto Beans 🫘💥💥💥💥💥💥just keep bringing that Greatness 💥💥💥
Thank you for the links. I've always ate good all my life. Also like you said thanks to grandma. I do believe in supporting small business . One item or two at a time. Be blessed
I am trying to purchase 2 of your cookbooks for my brothers birthday and it’s saying that it doesn’t ship to Florida? How do I buy your book?
are your spices out of stock?
I use my Instant Pot now to cook beans, no-pre-soak needed. If I have time, I will cook, either smoked turkey or ham hock first in 5 cups of chicken broth, with the same spices and onion that you use for 30mins and let the IP slow vent. I take out the meat, remove the meat from the bone, add the picked over, and rinsed bean to the liner, lock the lid and set to cook for 70mins..but if I don't I just add the beans at the beginning..
My mother fell ill when I was in the sixth grade and videos like this have really assisted me in my adult life. Thank you for the recipes. ❤
Bless you brother!
Her spirit lives on… my grandma who adopted me died during 2020 due to Covid, 4 years later it still feels like it just happened. Home cooked meals and making the family smile is the best remedy.

@@kristiandawson406my mom passed away back in may and this is so true. Soul food literally heals your soul
Yes, keep pot of beans on. rotate type each week, pinto & northern. health benefits are off the chain & goes with all meats💯🥰
I see you already know :)
Nashville, TN checking in 🙋🏾🤗🙋🏾♀️💯
So, just switch up the beans and I should be good to go. Is that right?
Yes Nancy love them and also try to eat them every week ☺️. Love them.
Yes my mom used to cook beans a lot when we were kids because my step dad used to like okra and his beans him and my mom I don't do okra riding or walking it's nasty but my siblings they did but I have a 25-year-old son he loves beans my daughter don't like them too much she said I used to cook them too much when she was little
There's nothing like a great pot of pinto beans!I was raised up on and I still love them 😋😋🥰😊!
Home sweet home is what I say when I make these. Really takes me back in time cooking with my G-Ma
Same!
With some greens!
Yes hunnti I use to love the way my mom use to cook all type of beans before she passed away. I miss my mom's cooking I miss my mom
Me too😊
This cooking channel is the only channel I have found where it feels like I can find the ingredients at the local Kroger or Walmart and actually do these. It makes me happy. I tried the smothered potatoes recently and I loved it.
Same!! This is dinner today!! Love AB ❤
Raised on ham hocks and beans with a little bacon -- that's real southern style ! !
You know what is up, my friend?
That's how my dad taught me to make beans! I really like the idea of using turkey instead of pork once in awhile. The only difference between the way we cook this is that I like to add red chili flakes to "kick it up a notch."
WOW!! I wanted to add chilli powder in mine, but I wasn't sure. You think it would be ok? 🤷
I always put my cornbread in the bowl and pour the beans on top of it . Yummy
Bravo Jason! 👏😁🤤
That's the only way !
Bingo😅
Sounds great. Try black eye peas cooked with okra and add sliced red onion n slices tomato on top with baked chicken. Thank me later.😊
that's the proper way in my opinion. along with some green onions.
All we need now is a pork chop, some hot sauce, and some collard greens. Thank you AB. 🙂
Mmmmm, let's eat! 👏🤤
That’s my meal for tonight that’s a coincidence these beans included
@@Ycbandz Recently, I threw a piece a cornbread in with it too. Down home cooking. 🙂
Slaw cornbread and peach cobbler
And peach cobbler with Bluebell for dessert.
My favorite meal when the weather starts to change, I put it on in the morning to warm up the house. You did it again never gets old!
Thank you 😁 🤤
@Starshines408 eats you must stay in a state where you get 4 seasons?🤔 Im born & raised in L.A. & wished that we could experience the 4 seasons of the year
@@kaymoney7759 best time is the fall and winter, or any gloomy cool day! I'm in LA also! Love me some pinto, Lima beans, great northern, or mix what u got! Some cornbread, and white rice! If it's hot, I'm not cooking no beans😂😂
A B, i wished you had
Taken the turkey wings out, before the
Meat fell of the bone ,
Then chopped the meat into smaller
Bite size pieces.
That.helps to make
It easier to chew.
We all love your
Videos. 👏👏

@Starshines408 my Mom used to say “put that pot on and warm up the house” good memories.
I’m going to make this in the slow cooker while at work. Perfect for the fall & winter! Thanks AB for the good recipes! 🙌🏾😊
Enjoy!
@@SmokinandGrillinwithAB - Only thing big enough I had was a pressure cooker and I didn’t feel confident in using that at all, lol. So I borrowed a big pot from my in-laws. I took my time on this and it came out great. Thanks. My man loved it 😁
Just make sure that you bring those beans up to a boil for at least 10 minutes. Beans contain a poison that causes severe gastroenteritis. Slow cookers may not get the beans hot enough to eliminate this toxin and are not recommended for cooking beans....unless you boil them first.
I want to put mine in a crockpot on low overnight. Tell me, can I do that if I've also soaked the beans overnight? Will they overcook if they've been pre-soaked?
Those look so good, AB. My wife used to make soup beans and cornbread every year in the fall. She used smoked ham hocks. I couldn't get enough. I would eat until I didn't think I would ever need to eat again. Then, I would hit them again the next day. Thanks for posting.
"If you come in here and take a look, there's not a lot of ingredients. People tend to overthink it!!' Isn't that the truth? You hit the nail right on the head. Sometimes the best things are so simple. A few quality ingredients, along with proper preparation with care and pride, you can create some of the most amazing and flavorful food. Simplicity! You let the ingredients speak for them selves and not overdo it with a ton of herbs and spices. Here I can see you're really highlighting the beans allowing them to take center stage and showcase them. GREAT recipe and technique!
My mother used to make this when I was growing up. But we would either have it with cornbread or biscuits on the side. Either way It was SO yummy..😋
Cornbread for me! But I see biscuits could work. I'll try it next time :)
Yummy, with cornbread!
I like rice
I love making pinto beans. I also add celery, garlic cloves, and thyme to my beans and cook them in the instapot. Love your channel and look forward to more of your good cooking’.
You have any good instapot recipes you want to share?
Right! I add those same ingredients.
I can eat pinto beans or Blackeyed Peas ANYTIME of the year. So 🔥
Me too Fam
I want to thank you so much. My mom passed & she use to make the best pinto beans, so I never thought I would ever need to make any myself, but thanks to you this will be my Sunday dinner. Again thank you so much.
Who else is here in the summer craving beans?! Oh just me okay cool
This is what makes you the BEST !!!!! Just the BEST !!!!!
💖💖💖💖💖
Much appreciated Poptart. Thank you for everything fam :) Happy Sunday to you and your family
Made me some today with smoked neckbones. I use smoked turkey wings too at times. Whatever I find in the store. I was wanting butter beans but I only had pintos, kidney beans and black eye peas. Love some good beans. And your right the broth tells you what's about to happen in that pot.
Now that’s southern style grandma food right there .. Love your cooking bro it’s the real deal.
Salute to Smokin & Grillin with AB 💪🏾 looks delicious 😋
Thanks fam as always :)
Great winter comfort food.
You like my timing? Enjoy!
@@SmokinandGrillinwithAB I love it its cold in my state this is right on time!
Unc you bringing back my childhood memories. My dad used to make this every Sunday. We would watch football together. Thanks Unc another great video
👍👋👏🤤
Very good 👍🏻
Here in Northern New Mexico we've been growing pinto beans for generations and is a staple diet. What is really good in frijoles is red Chile from the ristras we grow make here (Red Chile Pods) or red Chile powder from New Mexico.
I also like adding Chicos (dried roasted corn) to my beans really gives great flavor.
But adding turkey to beans is a new one to me. I can see the health benefits to it. Gonna have to try it! Also we make green Chile, blue corn, cornbread!
Thanks for sharing this great recipe
FELIZ NAVIDAD 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
My wife uses smoked ham hocks and no onions. And we usually have a pot of green chili to mix with the beans and use slightly burnt tortillas to scoop it up...
So good when it's cold outside.
Great recipe!
Smoked wings are good ,but I use smoked turkey necks🤪 really good 😊
I fixed your pinto beans a few years ago, they were so good! I would get up and eat them for breakfast with biscuits lol 🤣. I'm dead serious though.
This recipe became a family favorite so now I'm asked to fix them for the all the holidays!
Thanks for sharing!
You can't miss! Just made this. After only one bowl I'm laying down for a nap...was so damn good it gave me the itis. Thanks AB.
Big Moma always did it right in the kitchen 🥰
Omg …. From one cook to another thumbs up!!!
I’m a spi’cee lady so I always add jalapeños to my pots!!!
Ty 👏💯🤤
Okay. I'll be making this. It's great for the fall season too 👍🏼
Good timing on my part huh? Lol Thank you and enjoy!
Great southern cooking. Can't get that to often on RUclips.. I love your channel
Thanks fam! You'll like the rest of the videos I put for the rest of the year. I'm taking us home with the southern cooking :)
Thank you bro! Trust me I won't miss them..
My favorite I also add bell peppers, celery, and crushed red peppers.
Ohhh yes!! Love this classic meal... With that smoked meat (I like to use smoked turkey) over some rice. It be fire with cabbage too 🔥🤤
Making this right now. My house smells amazing! Thanks AB!
Love the differential man with the Turkey. I grew up in Georgia. Will always use fat back or strickling. Or Ham hawks For flavor
Nice
Just the way my mom used to make it. Thanks for bringing back some good childhood memories.
Looks great I’d add a few drops of Tobasco sauce to kick it up a notch. Thank you for sharing the recipe.
Also you can add some finely minced jalapeños for some kick 🤤
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
I’m making this right now except I didn’t have any smoked turkey wings- using smoked ham hocks. Man oh man- smelling good up in here!! Thanks for the recipes. Your my go to when I want something to turn out right!!
Wow it looks delicious, thank you for sharing
Yw and enjoy!
I always add chopped celery (with the leaves) and a ham bone. Always have ham bones left from Holidays. Probably need some fresh chopped onions to sprinkle on top, too. Love, love, love those beans!
Mmmmmmm 🤤
I love celery in my beans it give the beans a fresh taste.
Add carrots...it gives a mild sweetness to the dish.
Thank you smokin&grilling awesome god bless yall.
Corn bread and buttermilk love the old country foods sooth my soul 🙏😊✨
Cooking my beans now… yes I crumble my cornbread. Delicious!
I’m cooking some right now just like you
Mmmmmm Enjoy fam!
I’m making this right now and it’s truly a pot of joy. Thanks for passing down your skills Big Mama and Thank you for sharing AB
This is on my list to make for the first time! Looks delicious!
I'll definitely be trying this. Most of the time I break up the cornbread into the bowl of beans OR put the cornbread under the beans. The exception is when I add whole kernel corn and eggs to the cornbread. I eat that from a separate plate. I love that modification.
Thanks for the recipe. I'll be trying this one as is.
I love following ur channel and making what you cook. Yes, pot liquor with corn bread in it self is great!!
That looked amazing!!!! Awesome video! Thank you...
Yummy. Thank you a great looking meal.
Im SO ready for this 😋
This is so easy to make. You might just make this today :)
Thank you AB so much for sharing your recipes with us, and thank you for sharing these amazing pot of beans absolutely delicious!!!! 😋😋😋😋
😁🤤🔥
Sunday is Food for the Soul Day. Thanks AB!
it looks fantastic, thanx for the video
wally
Mane that looks good 😊 gotta make some 🔥🔥🔥
These were! Just like Granny made them
I wish I could reach through the screen and get me a bowl of those. I use to put Turkey ham in mine but it's hard to find now but watching you with the Turkey wings that will be my new meat. Keep on with the great recipes so I can get something new. You're the greatest.
Here's a plus when you use bone-in meats when flavoring vegetables: the marrow and the gelatin from the cartilage (gristle) adds extra flavor.
Thank you for sharing. It was very delicious 😋
You make things look so easy to do thank you
Great recipe. I put a little red pepper flakes in mine. Also red pepper flakes in black eye peas. Also I bought a mini bunt cake maker to cook my cornbread...With one box of jiffy cornbread mix will make 3 cornbread bunt cakes within 20 minutes. Plus the cornbread looks fancy. If you care about that.
AB.... You are the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth... so help me God!😂❤ You make a cook wanna cook! You inspire me!
Lawd that looks delicious. 😋
Love your cooking style and recipes. 👑💥
Man you did it right! Definitely gotta crumble that cornbread in the beans! Add a lil Texas Pete and you on cloud 9!
Here's something to consider about the 33% less sodium broth. It's pretty high in potassium, probably from the use of potassium chloride as in other salt substitutes. It has a flavor note that some of us can't abide. I prefer to use "no salt added" type products that are low in sodium and use no substitutes. Then I can control the sodium level by adding my own regular salt as necessary without the metallic twang of the potassium chloride substitute.
Thanks for this info. I never understood why low sodium has a weird taste. I like your suggestion of using no salt broths and adding your own salt.
I prefer the no-salt broths also. I add flavors with fats, which are not as bad for you as the media says.
Can’t wait to try this recipe!
Thanks for your expertise. I'm definitely trying this during the weekend.
Greetings from East Texas! Looks DELISH! I actually have a pot of pintos cooking on the stove! Used a smoked ham hock because it’s what was on hand. I also add a small jalapeño. And of COURSE-the Corn Bread! Enjoy your beans!

I'm following your recipe RIGHT NOW! My entire house smells so good from the aroma of the ingredients!! This is my Sunday dinner, yep last day of April 2023. I cannot wait to eat!! Thanks for sharing! Keep on doing what you do! By the way, i luv when you say, "folks"😊
Love your videos dawg. Brings back good memories
I like using ham hocks in my beans but these turkey wing beans look GOOD! 🤤
My mom does that and leaves them in a crockpot all night.
Smoked turkey necks are good also, but I like ham hocks myself!
Do you use chicken broth still when using ham?
I always remember my big mama when I make my beans and cornbread! My mom still makes some weekly for my son also! We switch up what beans we use weekly… We tell each other what kind we making and with what type of meat! I use smoke turkey mostly for healthy option.. she still uses ham hock and fat back lol but that’s the Alabama woman in her .. you can take the woman out of Alabama but you can’t take the Alabama out of the woman!!!
Good morning been eating beans all my life my mother loved her beans you can really cook been watching you a long time brought back memories thank you so much for what you do God bless you and your family always.
You put your heart in it, looks delicious 😋
The musical fruit reference killed me! I buy all my beans in bulk and haven't touched my pinto bag yet. This is where they're headed. When I use onion like this, I keep the peel as whole as I can and add it to the boil then pick it out when cooking is finished. There are TONS of tasty goodies and natural salts in the peel that get added to the dish.
Oh that is really interesting. I've heard about that with onion peels.
Hey AB those Pinto beans 🫘 looks delicious 🤤
Thank you and enjoy!
My mom always had a third item which was a big ol' iron skillet of fried potatoes and onions. All of these on a plate is the perfect trifecta! I definitely love the cornbread with the bean broth. Every once in a while I make this dinner and boy the memories and just savoring that scrumptiousness! Guess what I have in the crock pot right now??? Love your channel!!
Looks delicious!!
I break the corn bread into my beans!
😋
Add a small pinch of baking soda to the beans and you will be gas free.
Looks delicious, gotta make this soon. Thanks for the video!!
