Out of curiosity , you mentioned in a vid last year when looking at the preview images of it that you thought Zeta would pull off the jet mode better. Do you still feel that way after having it in hand? I don't dislike the Zeta Aerialbots, but what I've seen of Fans Toys they look superior in virtually every area except price.

I thought mavericks transformation was pretty smooth, you had the easiest looking transformation I had seen. But this guy does look amazing in both modes even with its shortcomings . can't wait to get him.
For me, I prefer the backpack wing being down if they couldn't make it an either/or option - shelf space is important, man! BTW, mine came with the wings in the right config as well. Damn shame about that back panel killing the waist, maybe they felt rushed and said "screw it, put it out."
What are the best things about the original G1 line was they were very simple easy to transform but when it came to the aerial bots and one to other combine I don't remember and they were mostly die cast metal and add Unbeknownst to everyone at that time tonka I believe it was tonka finance the line they were covered with all kins of lead based paint and just had way too much lead in the die cast metal pieces I don't know of anyone actually getting sick but if you compare the regulations today of those of 35 years ago it's not even close to being the same
I am 100% with you on the metallic eyes! I have been using a metallic nail polish on my recent figs and it looks factory. At least the eyes are easy enough to separate from the rest of the face...
The bot looks great from the front but the back is a little obnoxious. Like you said, they missed the iconic feature on his backpack. It feels like FT designs their figures to look good on shelves first.

They would only clip in while folded in bot mode. I swear I had originally seen it completed. May be the pain meds are messing with me. Sorry.
It seems a really strange decision to have forsaken the iconic aerielbot mini-jet backpack when that sacrifice doesn't seem to have bought them anything. Like it doesn't improve the robot mode or the jet mode or combined mode stability. Dude still winds up with a folded up jet on his back, it's just folded up wrong for no apparent reason.
TMan said this figure was "plasticky," especially around the wings and chest...he was disappointed that the plastic wasn't up to Fanstoys standard. What do you think about that? Is the plastic quality in line with other Fanstoys figures?
Roger Kloepfer the plastic is lighter on the back pack assembly so that it doesn’t make the figure too back heavy. Extremely smart and calculated move on fanstoys part.

Hopefully we see a release right close to the release of Top Gun II! Mine is in the mail from BBTS. I am committed to this whole set and to their Stunticons (Spoiler is my favorite Fanstoys product to date, BTW. A true work of art and fine craftsmanship, in my opinion.)
It is still stupid, and I'm 100% certain there was a better option, but I've seen someone suggest the Waist Swivel limitation is for the leg mode. The way to tell whether that theory has any water (no matter how stupid it is) is if Air Raid ends up limited in the opposite direction.
FT but disregard. Seems more like they were just going with famous movie related car names. IE Wildrider is Magnum. Similar enough Ferrari alt mode to Magnum PI.
I have no use for waist swivel and ab crunches. Still don’t understand why a robot needs them. So I don’t care about that. But I agree 100% about that backpack. They dropped the ball big time. That’s an iconic aerialbot feature, and they didn’t get it right. (Zeta did) And, I’m still waiting for an aerialbot jet mode that doesn’t look it has a folded up robot welded to the underside. I resign myself to be waiting forever.
The waist swivel is just so dumb, especially when the rest of the figure is good or better. I actually prefer the wings folded on the inside in bot mode, looks cleaner to me and keeps them out of the way of the arms. I disagree on the tail fin in bot mode tho, iconic or not i don't need that taking up my shelf space which is getting very limited. Deco wise its gorgeous, especially in alt mode.
Whenever life gets heavy I just imagine bobby slapping tiger tracks down next to the situation for scale

Oddly enough, some of my favorite stuff is the "Solid Unit" time lapse sequences. THey never go on quite long enough for me.

Even the problem of separating the backpack is much better once you know what you are doing and where to separate it.

From watching the review it doesn’t feel like a flop to me.
It's hard to say that this is a flop when this figure is only the second entry in Fans Toys' Superion... however the hell it's supposed to form up.
