- I make a Damascus blade using 190 round nickel plated steel washers staggered in a container. Due to the similarity to coins, I removed the beginning of the video. Pepper was also used. Titanium foil was used as a separator in the container.
Tea: Bound Lily Fairy Tea.

On my patreon page, I began to explain the processes and secrets of my work. Topics already covered:
1. Why do I add pepper to container Damascus steel.
2. What do I sprinkle? Flux and its composition.
3. How do I remove the container from the workpiece (container Damascus steel).
4. Why am I drilling a hole in a container.
5. Why do I sweep away the dross from the anvil with my hand.
6. Why do I first forge some blanks on a tree.

I’m convinced he can make Damascus steel from two ham sandwiches and a used napkin. This guy’s amazing.

Please, don't give him ideas like that, I did not see enough Damascus made out of weird scrap metals...
Love every one of Shura's videos!
Him and Kiwami Japan should get together and make a Damascus knife from a ham sandwich and a cucumber.
Hamascus. That would be something. Now I'm hungry.
I came for the technique, stayed for the newest Tea. Beautiful work as always
Looking forward to the Amazon adaptation of WoT?
Tea?
Don't you mean teanique? Ba dum tish, OK I leave now
I just came
I've watched this video already 10 times. This is beyond pure skills, this guy is an artist!
I like when he started seasoning the steel brick with metal seasoning. A true chef
I also have ginpowder
That is one of the most beautiful patterns I’ve ever seen. At this point I’m thinking it has everything to do with the seasoning. He’s the only guy season8ng his work, and also the only guy turning out steel masquerading as art as well. Just super stunning! You are a step above sir!
This man took material cost as a factor of production to a whole new level
I came for the bladesmithing, stayed for the economics.
Wonder what the cost was. Lol

amazing work, the dedicated tooling u have for finish sanding is a testament to your skills
Ok the blade was freakin cool and all, but who else was more intrigued by that blooming tea thingamajig?!🙋🏻♂️🤣

Seriously. Impressive either way. It's so satisfying to watch lol.
Far and few in-between could do this as well as this man. I've tried a few times now just as a simple side hobby and seem to get the material too hot and it forges itself to the actual working material! Oh well it's not professional/semi professional just a random weekend hobby to keep myself busy during shut down season!
He said he used titanium foil to separate the layers. Since steel and titanium don't weld very easily, I assumed he meant between the canister layer and the 'washers'
I am a violin maker. I don’t remotely work in metal but I know great craftsmanship when I see it. That was truly a very, very fine piece.
This is not damascus, Damascus is crucible steel,.. this is pattern forging... big difference. the biggest is that real damascus shows its own patterns through reactions in the steel itself, not through forging twists and shapes into it. lol
Dr. Decker That doesn't degrade the workmanship of this piece, it merely makes it misnamed.
You do outstanding work! It's always a pleasure to watch you turn a block of coins into a work of art!

I would love to see the Damascus pattern if he was to take all the ends he cuts off, and forged them all together. Truly amazing craftsman!
@Wim de B Yes, it is just a pattern not the actual damascus steel. Pop culture always ruin something...
Deluxe Green Beetle, you did it again!
That pattern looks fantastic
Absolutely freaking amazing. You have to go on the show forged in fire in the US. You would ruin any competitors you come against. Keep up the excellent work and thank you. And I love the tea breaks. Haha

Absolutely stunning!!! And the tea was something else. That bloom. Wow!!!
Big like from Damascus city 💎💎
That looks amazing, Really love it.... Be great to see this blade put through a forged in fire strength and sharpness test.....
No point in ruining such a nice piece. Those tests are designed to be far more brutal than intended use.
It's beautiful, but l doubt it would even take a decent edge, much less hold it. Not with all that soft garbage metal in there.

Another masterpiece by the master bladesmith himself. Freakin awesome dagger and the pattern is awesome and not really what I expected.
that is the most beautiful $7 blade I've ever seen!
The touch he puts on that press is hypnotizing
Crazy thing is I watch Forged in Fire everyday and I feel I've got a pretty good concept (I am trained in metal work) of forging blades and "patterned welding" but I've never put it to the test. I'm sure doing it is a totally different story but the guys on the show make it look so hard and I can literally sit there and say that's not gonna work why would you do that and sure enough they fail! Point is this guy is sick he makes it look easy and not only that the final products are just amazing! Thumbs up man!
I dont know if I'm more curious about your patterns or the tea. Either way I love your work!
Beautiful work as always. That blade is a masterpiece.
Everyone would love to see your blades go through a test, Also I would love to see you make a handle for your blades.
Those "tests" on the TV show Forged in Fire have absolutely nothing to do with quality knife making, and everything to do with Entertainment Value. In fact that is _why_ all of the contestants only design certain kinds of knives - Choppers, Campers, Etc - because they're the only ones that can survive the nonsense they're put through that no knife on earth should ever deal with... there's tools that are specifically designed to deal with every situation that they show in their tests, and none are knives.
Their "Sharpness" tests could be performed with a piece of flint on a stick... sharpness doesn't tell you much about Edge Retention. If they cannot sharpen a knife they shouldn't be calling themselves a bladesmith. There again... neither does smashing it into one of the hardest natural substances on the planet _(horn)_ repeatedly. Edge geometry, fit and finish, and most every other aspect of a good _knife_ differs from what you would forge for that show.
Fun show, though. Being fun, though, does _NOT_ mean that the bladesmiths on RUclips should be feeding people that nonsense EITHER. The ones that do it for views know better.
He DOES have handles on his blades, btw, on his site. It _would_ be nice to see him make them - but not all smiths actually make their own scales.
@@thalastianjorus wow. did i mention FiF? I realize it's 2 months later. Why are you so angry?
@@robertc49 Lol... mostly because I'm a bladesmith. Seeing people request 'tests' tends to set my teeth on edge for a bit. That and I was quite tired at the time, and wasn't actually all that upset. I just ramble when tired and typing.

This channel makes the coolest stuff, I’m actually thinking of doing something like it at some point
There's noth'n to it but to do it! Good luck!
@@DeadFront1319 thanks and to me it looks fun to do, having the tools to bend and shape metal is like having powers that you never imagine that you could do. The best part to me is making details like letting the acid eat at the metal to create a awesome design and adding onto that you can add engraving and different colors. Personally I would use the acid mixed with copper engravings of Japanese writing on a black steel duel edge knife with a carbon fiber handle. And I’m surprised I came up with that idea since I’m usually not creative.
I'll try to make myself a forge this afternoon, using concrete, two buckets and an empty tea can 😁

Personally I’d make a karambit cause I love the look of them well certain ones which are made more like a velociraptor claw, not to curved and not to long.

@@erictorgersen8191 I don't disagree with you on whether canister damascus should be called damascus just here to mention that a way to make wootz damascus was figured out in the late 90s so we actually do know how to make steel that is chemically and aesthetically indistinguishable from the steel used in the old damascus steel weapons.
