In this video, we conduct a field strip and cleaning of the Sig M17 pistol. This video also is good for the M18 and P320. Any pistol from Sig in that series. I like the M17. It's a great handgun. I thought a clean-up on this gun would make for a good video since these guns are growing in popularity and have received military contracts.

The first sig I ever owned was an m17 and it is incredible
For 800 rounds that's remarkably clean.
I'm actually really surprised how much wear he has for what he said about 2000 rnds, im assuming because he seems to not use much lube it looked pretty dry, I have an M18 with about 10,000 rnds and the barrel and slide still look like new. Literally no appreciable wear but I use grease on the sliding surfaces and oil on any pins
@@Coltgov191145running it wet it the south were it’s humid a lot it will gunk up alot easier than running it dry.
@isaakjunkeer785 if anything running dry in a humid environment is asking for corrosion not to mention most oils have detergent properties as well as adding lubricity preventing gumming it up thats the literally the whole point of lube in the first place!!

You can't run any firearm "dry" it will ruin it or cause malfunctions. Actually most firearms run best slightly on the wet or very well lubed side. The myth of "over-lubricating" your firearm is just that a myth. Anyone who has served in the U.S. Military knows how "wet" you keep them as instructed. Nothing is dry or blasted clean with solvents and completely degreased.....ever!

Thanks Eric. I have two of these, with the regular frame and no other upgrades. Believe it or not, this firearm is my EDC. I just feel comfortable with the M-17, and haven't had a single problem with either of them, after about 800 rounds each. Merry Christmas, and an Awesome New Year to you, Sir.

I have a WC on my 365, have a P80 for the 320, both are great upgrades! Currently waiting on a Strike Industries chassis for the 320.
My Wilson Combat grip did NOT come with the mag release installed. I had to do so.

So same as the M&P which everyone wants to hate on sooo much. Its funny in all functionality tests, abuse tests, etc., the M&P has out performed Sig, Glock but still everyone dogs the M&P even after an all metal frame? Why?

I just wanna know if the P320 is safe. I like the gun but don't know if it's safe.
The M17 and M18 are super safe, I own a P320 and it’s safe as well just lacks the safety that the M17 and M18 have.
I've owned a P320 since they first came out. I have over 3000 rounds on it and my son and a good friend each own one with over 2000 rounds fired. Not only have they never fired when dropped but they've never "gone off by themselves" as some people claim and I've never even had a malfunction with any type of ammo whether it's been commercially produced or my handloads. It's a great pistol.

Yet there are reports and videos at least once a month with them going off inside holsters with no hands on them. The one that put the nail in the coffin was caught on surveillance video and it was clear the Cops hands were nowhere near that gun when it suddenly randomly discharged as he was leaving the store. His hands were on the glass entry/exit door and pushing it open. You don't see any other brand or model doing that.

I've been considering the M17, but I get mixed signals from people who seem to hate it vs others who love it.
It's a great design and a good firearm but the quality is terrible at Sig and the quality control is even worse. If you get a good one it's good but if you get a bad one it could be your life or your foot. At that point I just move on to another brand that doesn't have such preventable issues
Looking forward to watching the video but holy crap on every m18/17 range that I’ve been on in the military there’s always pistols going down for trigger issues, extractors getting blown off or rear sights getting launched to the stratosphere. I want to like it and have confidence in the platform but it’s just not there yet in my personal experience.
The Beretta M9 and Sig Sauer P-226/Mk25 were both far away superior to the M17/M18.
What would you suggest for a brand new pistol prior to shooting it for the first time? Should it be cleaned and lubed?

What makes the difference between the P320 the M17 and the M18
The m17/18 are the military versions, the 18 has a shorter barrel if I'm not mistaken, it was the marine version. The 320 is the regular civilian version and doesnt have a safety.

@@TexasNationalist1836there is no functional difference between the M17, M18, and P320. They all work the same. The differences amongst them all are the features the owner chooses buy.

Sig has always been much easier to take apart than a Glock.
This gun is hopefully little bit similar to Glock.
Not even close. P320's and Glocks and pretty different. However P320's are also fairly easy to strip down.

I have the m18 & I have to say it is an absolute piece of sh!t extremely unreliable. Someone got away with something. I have 3 beretta,s 92fs 92s & the m9a4 & they are great all I can say our troops got f@cked . The beretta blows the m18 away

My Glock had a FTE. GET A HK! My HKs and 320 have been more reliable than my G19.4 was. Zero malfunctions to Glocks 1 malfunction. Clearly Glocks are inferior because of my one FTE…

BS....I own over 35 GLOCK pistols and other than some aftermarket tritium night sights on a few they are ALL factory stock. You "need" nothing added and need to learn how to shoot if you do.....
