Unless you are using it for fashion, the knight shield is too heavy for its stats. Try any other 100% physical shield, most are only 3 units of weight.

The Dragon crest against fire, the spider against the toxic darts, blood crest if I need resistances, grass crest if I need stamina, the ones that sell Andre for stability or the starting one of the warrior (I think?) if I want a fast parry while keeping the 100% phys

I usually go for the Crest Shield since all the tougher enemies in this game like to spam magic AoEs at you.
