Solo developer creating something what I could only dream about when I was little? Hell yeah, buying early access and supporting his work all the way
Solo dev will crush 880 CA employees...
@@thomaslacornette1282don’t set yourself up for disappointment. I’m excited but it will be light on content.
He was solo in the very beginning, it turned into a small team
Not a solo dev. But I agree.
@@raskolnikov6443 No worries, i not really hyped for this game but "total war" are so meh, he will crush them easily. 😂
The one game I will break my rule for and buy early access.

There are so many good games in early access lol. Pre-order I get but early access is more often then not a full game for a cheaper price
I could watch a 5 hour compilation of road building in manor lords and I'd call that ASMR
Lmao ngl the road sealed the deal for me
@@v1nigra3 I remember some people doubted it was real lol

I agree
2024 is turning out to be a really good year for gaming in the most unexpected way. AAA Games are turning out disasterous and small developers are dropping bombshells.
Holy shit I just got hit with a realisation, the mods for this game will be fucking amazing, depends how the base game will be but looks very promising. Already can imagine all the Lord of the Rings, AGOT and all that similiar stuff as mods for this, even more hyped for that if it's ever going to happen, hope the dev gives some good modding tools for the people, I feel like mods sometimes carry games like this one a lot
Mods will be much much later in implementation
@@steelgoodwin I know, I am just saying that I might be even more hyped for those than the release of the game itself
Only IF they release the modding tools. I heard people say similar things about Baldur's Gate 3, but look at the current state of modding that game: mostly cosmetics, and no plans for custom campaigns. So don't get too hyped until the devs make an official statement on this topic.
@_Slog_ BG3 is a very different game to mod, that requires event times and action to input. Strategy/city builder game like Manor Lords is mostly cosmetic modding.
@@steelgoodwin If having the base game reskinned to have a few crests and banners from your favorite fiction series is enough for you, then I suppose you'll get what you want. But I won't be expecting an immersive war of annihilation against the Night King/Dark Lord and his minions.
1 person did something teams of AAA development couldn’t do. The best thing about art, is artists will always make it.
It had support from a third party teams.
My first introduction to this was playing the demo however many years ago.
It's still on my desktop as an .exe and I still play it sometimes. I don't even want to play the game. I just want to tell my villagers to do some normal activity, like build a barn, and just watch them drag the logs with their oxen and see the buildings actually go up. They don't build like most RTS models that just have multiple progression models that are more complete as the building nears completion. No... Manor Lords, your villagers actually put up the wood beams, and nail them into place. They actually DO THE THINGS they're doing, not just play out an animation. (Obviously, it's an animation, but it's very detailed and immersive).
So I just play on realtime speed and just walk around my villlage as the manor. Even the demo was stripped of features and progression, but the world was so nice to spend time in, I don't care. This will be a Day 1 insta purchase for me.
the time of indies is upon us! the demise of the aaa is upon them XD
Get woke, go broke!
Its hardly an indie game at this point, given the cash infusion of epic games and the backing of a big publishers, that's like saying I'm an independent artist but I'm signed at a major label company 😂
@@robinnewhouse1563 bro its 1 developer, its an indie game lmao
@@captainalex157It is not 1 developer. He created a team after the beginning. It is impressive though.

I wonder if, as a Manor Lord, if there's a little role play involved, like being able to dictate laws to either be a good lord or a tyrant of a lord. Fables of King Arthur come to mind :)

Hoping they add castles and ability to man the walls, siege, rivers and river transport and trade and eventually coastlines and sea trade. Maybe invasions from other cultures.
i dont think it will be that large. it will mainly be about defending from bandits and rivaling villages. my guess is that sieges may come in when you try to conquer other lords to get their territory and thus expanding yourself.
Or even just earthen works to make your peasants effective defenders
I think there are castles isn't there?
Added to my wishlist back in Oct 3 2020 deep in lockdown, played the demo he release last yearish and was so hooked.

Anyone doubting the desire for the mix of realistic graphics and ambitious ideas would be wise to see the response this game is getting. Will be game-changing, literally. Akin to German/Belgian realistic painting of the Renaissance: microcosm and macrocosm together.
Not sure if there any doubters I think most are super excited 😁

Hey Resonant! Thx for keeping us up to date about Manor Lords, cant wait to watch your vids once the game actually comes out!
There is new gameplay available, mostly in German but its possible to put subtitles... they show the whole progression system, etc. The guy/channel is called Maurice Weber I believe.
Kind regards from Belgium!
It's gona be interesting following one villager that joins your village and just checking on him and then hoping he doesn't get killed in battle when we go to war
This game could really be great, I would hope we see add ons like a crime system units that police your village/Town/city. Laws even a moral system of how well the town is run, revolting if you try and over tax feeding the war effort. This game if kept alive with these kind of updates, could be kept alive for decades. Of course, modders will need excess to the entire game files for exceptional mods.
As I'm aware there is some kind of popularity mechanic, but it's rudimentary. If your popularity dips from taxes/lacks of food, etc people will start to leave or riot outright
There isn't any, at least to the guard side of things. As Town Watches aren't really historical in that specific era. Hence why the April Fools joke about them being included.
@ToxicTeraaa ah OK, thank you for explaining this makes sense.

This is like a modern day Knights and Merchants. Love it!
I loved that game.
That game was like crack.
maan, this kind of game will make you forget the time.
ooooh, 1 more i gotta build this.
cycles continue untill 5 am
I dont doubt any of the capabilities shown in this game because as far as I can see it, this is Tropico in a medieval setting with way way more polish and as a long time fan of tropico and medieval history, this game is perfect.
Who else is reminded of the stronghold games by this?
Been waiting for it since the whispers of its existence - so so excited!
It's weird how no-one is comparing it to the old Imperium Civitas (or Glory of the Roman Empire) games. It has the same hybrid of (complex) citybuilding and (simpler) real-time strategy. I feel like it was strongly inspired by it
This community seems better run than some I’ve seen in CA, good job.
Looks like one of the best/ innovative builders I've seen in a long time
I'm so glad this is finally coming out & the dev has found support
Can’t wait to see what the modding community will be able to do with this game!! The vanilla looks so good already.
Honestly love to see an indie dev get the attention, investment and support they deserve to bring their project to market
This has the potential to be a huge game and i am here for it
The only thing you need to know before watching this video. Dude just keeps talking about the same manor lords features over and over. If you've followed the game in any way this video is not gonna give a review or tell you anything you don't already know, a waste of your time.
Pin this.. when I need videos analyzing what I need to know before I buy a game I need the creator to actually compare and contrast other titles
This biggest question: is it worth your money?
Thanks
Yeah this shit is borderline AI generated. Reminds me of why I unsubbed from this channel
I suppose you are not known to be a great listener irl.
been waiting since 2020 finaly it has come my dream game did come true
so hyped about this game
I hope when I walk around my village, the Peasants/Commoners would address me properly with "Mi'Lord."
The roleplay potential is insane when mods come and add Dragons and Magic. Become the Dragon King with a big Castle inside a Royal Capital.
I wonder if the lord can participate in combat too? Probably very risky but maybe for emergency situations
it looks like stronghold 2 but better graphics to it
Loved stronghold and stronghold crusaders. Never enjoyed the 3d versions. Graphics were never good enough but this coupled with the freedom of building looks really promising
My hope for mods or maybe further DLC would be terraforming and castle building, so I can make a moat and bailey style of settlement
I saw a screenshot on Steam that looks like it has this.
The graphics & animations are really spot on! 100% will buy this one.
This looks really cool. And it's Free from the grid! Just that thing alone makes it look fantastic.
Manor Lords, Frostpunk 2 and KCD 2... This is going to be a good year for gaming.
Ben hyped for this game since I got it suggested when looking up Bannerlord a few years ago!
I hope that we get some bigger Regions. Maybe also with big rivers or Coastlines.
Really looking forward to this game. I hope later in the game we can see are village turn into more of a city with brick roads and such.
I am a huge huge fan of stuff like this. Crusader kings, banner lords and total war are basically the only games I play.
I have never been more hyped for a game then I am for Manor Lord. I am probably taking the 26th off work.
id love to see some sort of custom building dlc or update, being able to have a personal touch on the houses, forts and churches would be very cool to see
Feels like a mix of features from Banished, Dwarf Fortress, and Total War. Looks awesome
Thank you Res for being a strong supporter in the project in both Alpha and now leading into EA.
Do you know if the lord can join in combat, maybe inspire the troops in battle
Definitely looking forward to this game!!
i cannot wait to play trhis, i loved the settlers back in the day
Love Bannerlords 2, but wish it had a builder play like this, instead of already built towns/villages. great review
1400’s SIMS mixed with Warcraft 3? Thank you!!! Please live up to the hype! If I hear “work complete!” “Zug Zug” Or “build more farms” I will be happy.
So excited for this game counting down the days
I was able to try the demo and was happy with it, ima buy the early access 😂
I sure hope that expansion and building castles would be an option!
A lot of people are getting hyped for this, but getting hyped for games is never wise. Though it looks promising, we really haven't seen a lot of detailed information, and complex games like this can fail in many ways. The devil is in the details. Even if this game has all of the elements required for success, something as mundane as balance problems could seriously harm it. Hopefully, it will be successful, but it is always best to wait and see.
As for me, I am hoping that there will be good customization options. Though I'm glad warfare will be in the game for the sake of realism, I don't always want a stressful game full of warfare and raids; if game settings can be customized to reduce or eliminate this, I will be a lot more likely to play this game when I simply want to relax and build a village. RimWorld is a great model for this sort of customization. That game can be whatever sort of experience the player wants it to be, whether the player wants a peaceful colony builder or an ultimately futile last stand against relentless waves of raiders and vicious wildlife.
I really really want this game
Kinda hoped *Warhorse* would get involved with this game, *Warhorse* being a new aswell but with succes on their *Kingdom come deliverance* seemed like a good match.
Looking forward to the review and perhaps ur tips and tricks.
Warhorse was too busy making the sequel to their masterpiece.
Can't wait to play both this and kcd 2
First time hearing about this and this game looks like its going to be really fun !
ive been waiting so long and cant wait to play the crap out of this
Disclaimer for the video footage (e.g. 6:05): this is from the demo. it has been said that the dev reworked the houses so your villages wont look like american suburbs with all the same houses next to each other.. so you'll have some variances here as well.
This would be so cool for medieval Japan 😍
Looks like a modern, polished and more realistic version of Stronghold. Interesting!
I feel like this will be one of those games that has been hyped so much, that it'll be roasted for it's initial bugginess, and forgotten, only to re-emerge 4 years down the line as a solid title.
Cp2077?
@@user-dc4yr2ev5h Yep, as well as No Man's Sky, Fallout 76 (even though I still hate it) Battlefield 3+4, FF14, as well TW Attila, which people forget was hated by many on launch. Just a symptom of Publishers trying to scam pre-orders out of people with inaccurate trailers. At least it seems this is one guy's passion project. Although, CP2077 and No Man's Sky are probably most applicable, as they weren't by giant studios, and were way more hyped without precedent.

Fans of total war are the ones who will ask for constant dlc and bitch about how the battles are small
Players and fans of the stronghold series looking at this masterpiece as the game we always dreamed of
Seen the battles. Kinda big
Darn this is incredible, in fact the graphics are very similar to Kingdom Come Deliverance, only instead of being a Story game with RPG aspects it's a simulation/management game.
I'm really hyped for this game !
I kinda dreamt of this game, amazing!
A medieval game that also releases on my birthday? count me in!

so amped for this!
So excited for this :)
tbh I always saw "kingdom come deliverance" when Looked at this game rather than total war
Tf? Lmao.
me too! definitely has that beautiful kingdom come look and fidelity with some mount and blade bannerlord looking combat
Kingdom War: Total Deliverance
This game kinda reminds me of The Settlers: Rise of an Empire released in 2007....when I played that game as a kid, was by far one of the more enjoyable games to play and very unique. Haven't seen too many games release like it, glad to see this game is shaping up to be an amazing game :)
I wonder if the progress will feel forced like in CS. Or if i will be able to chill at some point knowing my region is on a sweet spot regarding population, production etc.
I really hope for the best with this game.
been playing farthest frontier, while waiting for this, really am excited to play it. Looks good
Farthest Frontier worth buying?
Bannerlord is shivering in his timbers right now
Both me and my wife are excited about this release, because we both are medieval era fanatics and we both love city building genre. I'm the happiest man in the world.
Does the map expand as you conquer the available areas or is it always a 6 province map with one other AI and random bandits?
This gon be fire
Looks like a modern stronghold! with more PVE content. I like it
When I played total war I would turn the unit size way down, it’s feels way more realistic. Needless to say this is my dream game. Game of thrones mod would be dope
Just found out about this game today.
Got it on my Wishlist.
I've had this wishlisted 2020, I need this game, its killing me haha
I’m not complaining for the wait on console getting a pc is just not the move for me at the moment but it’s coming I’ve played pc games on my Xbox way more often like stellaris ck3 exc. I’m just happy it is
This game has the potential to rewrite multiplayer gaming history. If it ever becomes one
I feel like there's going to be a steep learning curve for this game, but it looks great (very promising), personally I really like the idea of the smaller scale combat & all the immersive elements
(Early Access coming 26 April 2024 on Steam)
POSTED by the Developer on STEAM
Wed, April 17
A few words from the Dev before the launch into Early Access
Hey everyone,
It's been quite a journey so far, but it won't stop on April 26th. During development, the core tester group was around 130+ people. Given the popularity of the game, I'm pretty sure there is going to be a wave of feedback that I will need to address after the early access launch.
I wanted to address a few things for everyone who intends on buying the game on April 26th...
What this game is not.
Manor Lords is not a Total War competitor. It's a city builder with battles. Yes, battles are there, but not as huge or as frequent as some of you might expect. The majority of gameplay is focused on city building and management.
-It's not a Empire Management style Grand Strategy game either. The map has regions, but you won't be able to conquer the whole Europe, nor have marriages or anything like that. The game is designed to play at a much smaller scale.
It's not an RPG either. If you played KCD or Mount & Blade, ML is a different type of game. There is a visit mode in Manor Lords which allows you to walk around your town, but it's an experimental, cosmetic bonus feature, the game is really meant to be played from the "bird's eye" perspective, like a strategy game (almost always) should. There won't be any first-person gameplay.
-It's not a competitive, fast paced RTS like Age of Empires or Starcraft. A lot of the game mechanics focus on aesthetics of your town and resources take some time to be transported around the map. This results mostly in a more of a relaxed experience, with high intensity moments spicing up atmospheric city building rather than the game being at high intensity all the time.
This will be an early access release.
Yes, it must be disappointing, but I think it's the right choice. It's my first serious game and not only some stuff is still unfinished, but I bet you guys will ask me to change some things you don't necessarily like. But I want to pursue an open development strategy of a back and forth between me and you, I think it worked great for the game so far (I'm comparing to times where there wasn't even a testing group and I was developing in a bubble).
The publisher and I recently shared the game with content creators all over the world. Feel free to check out numerous streams and let's plays out there before buying to make sure this is the game for you! That said, the reception has been super positive so far for which I’m very grateful. I think the game should find a way into the hearts of players who expected Manor Lords to be what it is, a realistic, organic, authentic city builder with real time battles. (edited)
Roadmap
I do not plan on releasing a roadmap yet. I've made a mistake once or twice before, of promising and working on a feature only to find out that the testers didn't care as much as I did and that they actually wanted something else. So even if I have a plan, I want to adopt the philosophy of "listen, verify, implement". This way I expect the first month of patches to be just bug fixes and polish. During that time, together with Hooded Horse, we’ll be collecting your feedback and then prioritizing work based on what we hear.
I'm still considering whether to keep the testing of future patches closed or open, my current idea is to have an open pre-release beta branch so that everyone who owns the game can check and test the most recent pre-release unstable version of the game and contribute if they want to. And keeping the main branch as the previous most stable version. Though let me know, maybe you'd prefer me to keep the unstable versions to a closed testing group?
As always, thanks for following and all the support. I’ll certainly keep the updates more frequent here once the early access officially starts.
Have a good one!
Greg

I remember a long time ago you had a video on your channel about this promising game in the Viking setting, I really curious how they are developing the game now, because there is not much information about them on the Internet, and at the same time reviews on Steam are very contrasting and polarised.
