Thank you for playing this! I love the workshop extensions, its more historically accurate. And I know people complained about the "workers" being tied to families, but that's also more accurate. Families were central to labour and professional training; think of all those surnames today (Smith, Cooper, Tanner etc)
Some people don't realize when they watch movies set in medieval times and people are like "my father was a blacksmith, as was his father before him" (says a blacksmith) that's because blacksmithing is the FAMILIES job (mostly the men ofc but yea)
@powrich12 exactly. There were no schools and with ridged caste structure, your family was tied to a certain job for generations. I guess unless you a) became a priest or b) got an apprenticeship in another trade
You REALLY do explain things way better than anyone else I've found in these city builders, you helped me so much in Anno I can't even begin to tell you, so easy to listen to and understand, I think you're channel is excellent and to be honest I'm baffled why you haven't got 1m+ subs, good luck in the future, gonna binge watch all your Manor Lords content so far. Previously it was a limited demo, this is more scenario based sandbox, so I plan on finishing this one and then also tackling the other mode on a harder difficulty, and hopefully following the games updates too!
This game is sooooo beautiful.. and for how few working on it, its AMAZINGLY stable.. I love it!! KUDO's to the dev!

Hey Darren, really looking forward to this series! I technically am still in the middle of watching your Anno 1800 series (always get distracted by rebuilding my islands after getting inspiration from your play), but I really liked the short series you had on Manor Lords earlier. Looks like a fun game and I really enjoy your commentary while playing these games!

Currently on my 2nd playthrough after foolish decisions ruined my first attempt. Doing much better this time, with my second town/territory settled and preparing for my first battle with the AI opponent. Loving the game so far, lots of potential.
The most underrated RUclipsr I've ever seen.
I believe you need to put your supplies like firewood and food into a granary or storage building. If they get rained on twice then they are ruined. That's why it dropped all of a sudden.
If the Dev adds Politics/Government System where you can assign valiant/intellectual villager to a certain position; have a General (commander) in a unit possibly 3 Generals in one Army unit; have the main Lord takes the Lead of the battle (the Lord himself is one the General in a unit); have your Lord a Family System where you can select a villager as your wife and have kids; have an Heir System just in case your Character dies in the battle where your son or daughter or wife takes over the throne; The Character(lord) must have a title or rankings based on achievements; AND LASTLY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT THIS GAME SHOULD HAVE IS THE ABILITY TO CHANGE ALL VILLAGERS NAME FOR BETTER IMMERSION OF THE GAME. then this will be great alternative for TW3K
I am really interested in this game. It looks brilliant and def a buy form me when it comes out.
It also made me cry and laught at the same time that you managed to make the most "modern" looking american style city (grid) ever when the game is crazy good helping you to make relaistic europian middle ages towns with the plot system able to curve. xD
I love the look of this game, can't wait to give it a crack.
Hopefully they make it compatible with the steamdeck.

Hi Darren, hope you're doing well man.
I have mixed feelings about this game, there's a lot of hype and it seems like it wants to be everything at once which is worrying also with the expectations on a Early Release.
Furthermore, I don't know if its because of the game or another stage in your life but I don't feel the same spark from you that you had during the ANNO1800 series. I even remember you did this Christmas episode when you were moving.

I hear the downside to two houses on a plot was when you're placing plots at the back. You'd be making two families work the plot at the back instead of one, if you had one plot. So apparently you should make one houses plots for your artisans.
But this is actually a way of doubling the speed of production instead of making two blacksmiths or something. Maybe you never need two though.
@WhatDarrenPlays double production is good sure but it would drain resources quicker than you can get them surely?
Glad to see you back in the same track as me, as far as video games goes. Anno has been lonely and Satisfactory isn't my jam.
I'm also waiting for a new Anno game to be announced. I really hope we at least see something this year!

HEY!! I am in England and it doesn't always... checks outside... ok it is raining now... but...
Would it work better if you built your industrial building next to your store? That way everything is going to one place and all your industrial building just have to walk there?
I guess it depends - Industry comes from something right, such as wood or iron or stone, or some animal products. Is it better to lump all industry together near a store, or have all industry near its needed raw resource? I'm not sure really.
In future episodes I build logging industry all together in one place with their own storage. Food with its own granary, sheep near their sheep shearing and their own storage. All with a central market. I agree the goal is to cut down travel time, but in the early game I think being close to the resource is probably more important.

Nope, there is battles. Everything you saw in my intro was recorded by me.
So you not seeing someone yonk your stuff could be explained away is one of there stealth rouges stole it undetected
You could have more familys come if you that care of the ones you have. Meaning you used up all the berries, know you can't make dies latter on. You had animals for food. You could have waited on the church. Supplies are first with market and have every family with a farm. Veggies, chickens, and goats. The rating goes up first the most food you have. Am extra ox would have been good to move along. The longer the house plot is the more they provide. I would have liked you to make the second row of houses right behind the first set before going across the street. I have noticed in this game it is not the approval rating that brings families in first but supplys and more importantly food. If you do that first and water well. You can wait to do what the the other things the game suggested. Also for some reason families come faster when you have a trading post. Even if you are trading small at first. I watch several videos really enjoy this, but I seen a guy that ignored everything. Had almost 200 pop. Build up his industry first. Then houses with big yards and second house and every house had a place at market, veggies, chicken, goat. Approval went high without church or anything else, food and basic supplies, and trade bring the people.
Satisfactory? Cant wait...

You lost 6 mths fuel early game because you didn't assign anyone to storehouse and the supplies spoilt. I think you lost food the same way.
I cannot wait to play the game that will KILL the TOTAL WAR franchise that has BIG PROBLEMS currently.
I love RTS but I could never get into total war because of the cartoony style
