I appreciate all of you coming to watch my very first ever video!! Please keep in mind this will not be as high quality content as more recent videos, but is still a fun adventure… enjoy! 🏕️
I've recently been watching a bunch of your content and I really love your adventures. You never miss! You've inspired me to get out more and explore a lot more of my local area.
I live in Alameda and found this trip to be so familiar and yet so strange. Thanks for a very enjoyable event. There is a book about the islands of San Francisco Bay. There are many more than you might have thought of. Exploration and "Guerilla" camping has intrigued me. I used to enjoy going for adventures to Party in out of the way places. Several friends who were more down on their luck showed me and told about where they would stay. One stayed in old bunkers in the Presidio. He got welded out. I slept in Alcatraz with the Sierra Club. I was in D-15. A Homeless friend showed me the way to a spot in Lake Chabot on a ridge near Castro Valley. We camped there and walked at night. There is a crossroad nearby. Some of those can generate energy from the crossing as well as Ley Lines. We fixed dinner in Armstrong Redwood Park and then walked into the Redwood Forest to sleep. When I met Hoboes I joined them on several adventures. We rode freight trains and I spent a few nights. I walked so often in Parks in the East Bay, vacant lots, Beaches and the Golf Course in Alameda. In High School we even entered the Oakland Airport grounds. They fenced it out and don't allow that anymore. In many camping trips I slept out of campgrounds doing Dispersed Camping in National Forests and Bureau of Land management in the deserts. I found a way to sneak into Muir Woods at night to pray and meditate. It is a powerful spot. I visited the Vortexes in Sedona, AZ and slept on my own west of town. I see so much at night in the desert, but I only hear things in the forest. Steve Willis has put out some excellent items. He works in Canada. There is a fellow in England who camps out. Perhaps you inspire each other. I am 71, out of shape and fat. There is no way I can do the things I used to enjoy. not to mention the things you do. I still Car Camp in the wilds. Please keep producing these things. It is good for my Soul to watch this. You can contact me if I can provide some information or insight as well as some help. Jim Hudkins, jimhudkinscpa@gmail.com
Hi Jim, so cool to hear from an Alamedan... you will definitely recognize a lot of my spots! What a wealth of knowledge and experience you have... sounds like you had some incredible adventures!! Already some of the places you listed give me some great ideas on spots to look into. I'm glad I can make these videos to provide some calming entertainment and share some of the beauty this world has to offer! I am definitely a fan of Steve Wallis - he gives me great inspiration to get outdoors in unconventional ways. I will definitely reach out to you for some advice, sounds like you have a lot you can offer! Appreciate you watching and your kind words -Wes
Hi Wes, love the content keep it going. Appreciate the extra effort in all the camera work. I am binging your videos and I am from the Northeast. This is inspiring me to go get lost in the Chesapeake. Well done
I'm just now seeing the first video lol I was like "I've seen this island before but not the video". That foot looked painful, I'm assuming the healing went well. Great video and I liked the venture to the store and abandoned building.
Great video BUT that was a hell of a journey to get coffee lol. And what shoes did you have on stepping on a nail wear better foot ware man, Stay safe. See you on the next one
That nighttime paddle out was sketchy! Sorry about your foot! Ouch! Couldn't imagine the pain!! Always wondered if you ever got pooped on by a bird. Guess so!
Thanks, yeah my job is literally being on my feet for 8 hours a day, so I had to take 2 full weeks off. Thankfully it fully healed!! Yup it's always a roll of the dice for me getting bird bombed lol
Dude, I feel for you. I live in China and when exploring some old house - boom, nail into my foot. Then we had to find the anti-tetanus shot cos I was sure my last one was more than 10 years ago. So first hospital, no shots and no one asked if I wanted the wound cleaned (I done the best I could) then to the next hospital a much bigger one this time. I got the shot but no "casualty" care for the wound. I had washed it and back home I used iodine. on it. But ye a real pain in the .... foot, right. Enjoying your videos, we are stuck inside as a Typhoon blows through - hopefully this weekend as we a getting flight back to the UK for a visit on Monday. Best wishes
I believe it was a type of data collection device like a mobile weather station or similar. But if you asked mama seagull, it was a floating picnic table 😂
5:46 These guns are important later.... --> 7:27 Ahh to be young again. Glad to see your not wasting it! Nails going in is the worst feeling ever, couldn't imagine being crucified. Fortunately that doesn't happen anymore, AND WE AREN'T GOING BACK! PS look up; Tetanus Peace💙
I wish I could subscribe more, you're the man. 2024 version les stroud right here. Keep it going man. Also, Yerbe Mate, great choice. Edit: I came to comment on all those extra camera shots you took from land as you paddled by. This man did twice the work if not three times the amount of work we saw to make sure we got to really go along for the ride. If you're ever in SD, and need a camping partner, let me know haha.
@WesWherever, you're an inspiration, not just in your outdoor adventures, but in living the human experience. The world needs more Wes's; kindness, compassion, and authenticity shine through in everything you do. Your videos have brought me immense joy and motivation, reminding me of the beauty and simplicity of nature and life. Thank you for being such a pure soul and for sharing your journey with us. Your impact is truly profound, and I'm deeply grateful for all you've done for me and others.
@@WesWherever Thanks. Just watched your first two videos, and have subscribed. I don't know what your background is, but you sure know how to make videos. Looking forward to bingeing through the rest. Best wishes from Eastbourne 🇬🇧 UK.
SF Bay Bridge. He camped on the S side of Yerba Buena Island. In the Am he paddled around to the N side of the island, left his boat on the beach at clipper cove, and walked over the short causeway to Treasure Island for coffee. Like many coastal areas with bays, inlets, lagoons, etc. CA has some amazing little gems that can reached by small boats.
The ultra wide angle makes it kinda nauseating, maybe try a a less wide setting on your go pro, doesn't have to be on super wide. 0 reference of up or down when your climing or not looking at the horizon.
Appreciate the tip! This was my very first video I ever made, and I was a complete novice at filming back then (sort of still am, but have made a lot of progress). Feel free to check out some of my newer videos if you’d like a better viewing experience 😉

Very nice! What a way to get away for some peace and quiet! Hope your foot gets better soon!😊

That's so good to hear!! Doing theses adventures has shown me that there's always something new to discover right in your backyard 🔎

When you started to climb that tree I knew I was watching exactly what I came for 😂
You came to the right place 😉

Those bagels are on point!
Thanks!! I just love me a good lox bagel 😋😋
I came for the stepping on a nail reference in a future video!
Do you ever see any sharks out there in the water? Love your channel and all the adventures you take us on. All I can say is we want more!
Very cool. Where is this?
Right?? Love this spot! Island is in San Francisco Bay directly across the bridge from the city
i drive there few times to catch rubber lip perch..

Wow! Thank you! I really glad to know about new things like bagel. What did you add from that zipped package?
They are fried crispy onions. The bagel was delicious!! 😋 Thanks for watching
@@WesWherever Thanks!
damn stepping on a nail sucks i stepped on 2 nails with the same foot and quit my job in the same week
2 nails man that’s rough… hope you fully recovered. Took me 2 weeks to really be back on my feet and maybe a month until it felt 100% again
I noticed you had Tillamook cheese. It's made a lil ways north of me in Tillamook OR. You can go there and tour their facility.

Yeah definitely not pleasant to step on a nail!! Glad you recovered okay 👍 Safe travels my friend!
I just noticed that thing at 14:43 the other day, but I couldnt see much of it from the estuary. Any idea what it is?

are you from the bay area? several videos i see now..
Wow you're very trusting leaving your Kayak with all your gear on the beach. If you did that in the UK, it'd be stolen by the time you got back!
Pretty risky kayaking to Yerba Buena island at night.
Yeah, definitely had to keep my wits about me for this one!

Greetings from across the pond! This is the Delaware River Viaduct

@ianjames1179 I’m sorry, I thought this comment was on the most recent video. This is actually the Bay Bridge near San Francisco!
