As a bird nerd and someone who loves following stealth campers and van life action, please never stop identifying and sharing the birds! I'm near the East Coast, so I was not familiar with the Brandt's Cormorant. Thank you!
I love the bird IDs too! A bit farther afield though myself being in Yorkshire, England. The only Cormorants I've seen is called the Common Cormorants, I may have seen a Blue Heron though I think it's a non native species here . Hope you and Wes himself have a great weekends 👍
Glad you appreciate it!! It was so cool to be on the East Coast and seeing birds I had never known of back home, so I definitely understand! Thanks for watching :)
Another great video, thanks. I love the way you pay attention to the small things and animals which really give a sense of the place and your respect for it. Keep being you!
Thanks, John! When I am out there, I really do feel like the viewers are right there with me. It's much greater than me just solo camping... we're all experiencing it together!! Glad you have been enjoying the adventures :)
It's very uplifting to see how kind, caring and respectful you are to all. I appreciate your pointing out the local flora and fauna and taking the time to do your own research and give us their scientific names. Thank you.
Honestly at the start of this video I was being judgemental of the scenery, the whole ‘bloody America and their hatred of trees and love of concrete’. But watching your video, you allowed me to appreciate the little things. The warm lights of the apartments knowing people are cooking their dins, the little family of ducks, the makeshift flooring and the fire pit. Beautiful video
I must admit there is just something about your chill positive videos. I’m always so happy when you drop one and your cooking skills are definitely reaching a new level. Thanks so much for such positive content.
Thanks Martha, really glad I can bring some positivity your way :) I am trying my best with the camp cooking... not always a success, but I am learning! Thanks again for watching!!
Greetings from Oakland. Spent so much time at this very spot from the mid 90s until 2012ish. There used to be to be houses behind where you camped. You’d have to cut in between yards and climb through a hole in the fence to get to the beach zone. Most folks referred to it as the Tea House. There was a little covered structure that over hanged the water that would hold 3 or 4 people. Way cooler spot before they clear cut that whole area out. Always look forward to your new videos..especially the local ones. Your options out here are endless. Keep em’ coming!!!
SO cool, I had no idea about the houses or structure!! Gives me even more appreciation for this little spot. Appreciate you watching bro, I will definitely keep em coming 🫡
Hey Wes Great vid. There is a cool spot and abandoned bunker on big rock ridge Novato. The coordinates are 38.05538° N, 122.59902° W from Apple Maps. I always bike and hike past, it’s a cool building and also has cool views. Would make for a great video!
I really appreciate the tip, thanks!! Looks like quite the hike (or bike ride) to get up there. I have a Brompton folding bike that I want to use for an adventure, but I probably could make it up there with it 😅 I will look into hiking there tho, looks like a great spot!
To hike or bike you can start at Ponti trailhead in Novato/marinwood, it’s a couple miles of shaded single track, then it turns into a fire road for another couple miles. From the other trail head near the top of Lucas valley, it is a single track right called “big rock trail” right off the road, then to a fire road. Either way it’s not short, but it’s probably a little bit shorter from Lucas valley side. Great views either direction though.
Highly recommend takeout condiments when you do foil pouch meals. Soy sauce from sushi restaurants, sriracha/hoisin from pho, tabasco/texas pete from Shake Shack, Fire sauce from Taco Bell, parmesan/red pepper from pizza, etc all can really liven up a foil pouch meal.
True, great tip! I actually have a big stash of little condiments/seasoning packets, not sure why I didn't think of using any for the foil pouch meal this time 😅 Have you tried the breakfast salsa from Taco Bell? It's good on so many different things!!
@@WesWherever I haven't tried that salsa yet but it sounds like a good one! Maybe on an upcoming trip you do taco bell themed meals, make your own version of a crunchwrap, chalupa, gordita, etc
I’ve watched all you’re videos Wes and love every single one of them and look forward to the next one! My favourite part is watching what you cool because I find int really interesting how you can cook something amazing in the middle of no where! Keep up the great work!
5:41 : that mask reminds me of a scene from Jim Carrey movie, The Mask, where, Jim is in similar surroundings as you, next to the water, and finds his mystical mask. You should have kept that mask as a souvenir.
Hi I am a new kayaker. I have 3 Eddielines and one Oru Kayak. Just relearned how to swim after 35 years. Ready for new adventures with my wife and daughter.
Somehow I missed this one. Typical everywhere in this world or on our planet, someone builds new apartments and they are for the luxury type of people. Nice counter statement with your way of traveling and overnight stay.
Regarding aluminum foil, yes, ALWAYS heavy duty! Ain't got time for no regular. And for foil cooking the wide is the best. If you're hiking and can't take a whole roll, tear off a bunch and it folds up and packs nicely.

You know i do love how show another version and experience of the bay area. In this one Oakland we get so much people from outside show what they think oakland the bay are but there is so much here and so many differnt experiences and just maybe a mile away or less there are some places that they use to show how bad oakland is yet you found a place in this place to have a wonderful natural experience in. I guess oakland got value look at that huge new luxury apartment being built here yes oakland is many things and many experiences don't write off a place to just one part of it experience each and judge is good and sometime not so good but a experience worth having thanks for showing your experiences in the spaces in between and expierencing beauty and simple joy from those experience and sharing them with us all Thanks
Very true, there are so many different realities here, it’s a shame when media focuses on the negative. All of the Finger Piers in San Francisco as well as around Manhattan in New York City were Break Bulk. It's all in Containers now. I think your exposure is minimal. People will see you sometimes. Some will just check me out and then silently go away. Others admire when courage has caused someone to be set free. When I was in Freight Trains and people saw us it seems to surprise and fill them with joy. One time I was on a Container car and got up out of the Well and sat in the open. It was very comfortable and visible. Nobody could reach us on a moving train. As we ran parallel to BART passengers coud see us and waved. It could of been something to tell other people. The train driver sped up and paced us. He hung his head out the window and waved at us. He seemed filled with joy and excitement. He sped up to each station to stop. Then he sped up again to pace us. I know he couldn't get enough of seeing us and waving at us. I believe he felt better. There used to be lots of Beach Art on the Emeryville Mud Flat near the entrance to the Bay Bridge. thin wall pans are poor for frying at any time, better to thick bottom it with water and poach instead. for thick bottomed pans the best Ive seen in not-ultra-light camp is from Decathlon :) but yea, thin wall = hot spotting and poor heat distribution and retention = scorched food.

Glad you two enjoyed 😊 Centralia, WA? My Aunt Joan lives up there too, neat!! I got the life vest from REI - looks like you have one up in Olympia 🔎 Thanks again for watching :)
Hi Fidel, thanks for watching! Thankfully NO... I don't know how I would react if I ever had a shark encounter 😅 Let's hope it never happens, or if it does that it's peaceful 🙏
I have a personal question :- where do you take a $h*t when you have to go ? Most of the places that you camp at, are so small and exposed. I am genuinely curious! Plus I noticed the food you cook has a lot of fibre. So, its natural to feel the natures call first thing in the morning when you wake up. So where do you go?
Here I found a hidden area behind the bushes to dig a hole. I carry a trowel and dig a 6-8 inch deep hole to go in. When soil is too rocky or there is not enough privacy, I will go in a bag (double bag it) in the privacy of the tent and eventually throw it out in a trash can 😅
Anyone who drops a dime on a guy with a cayak reminds of the "joke" where the lady calls the cops because there's a naked man across the way from her apartment window. The cop looks out and can only see a man above the waist, bare-chested. He tells the lady that's all he sees and there's nothing wrong with it. She replies, "No, up here on the ladder."
You make the best of every campsite you find, sadly now that that fancy condo is up they might claim that beach for themselves, hopefully it will stay free for wildlife and everyone.

That Eddyline is sweet
New subscriber here. I'm so glad I found your awesome channel. Take care and be safe.
neat spot
thin wall pans are poor for frying at any time, better to thick bottom it with water and poach instead. for thick bottomed pans the best Ive seen in not-ultra-light camp is from Decathlon :) but yea, thin wall = hot spotting and poor heat distribution and retention = scorched food.
I will have to try poaching the eggs next time, thanks! It took quite a long time to try took cook them at a low enough temp to not burn them
This is one of your best ❣️
That means a lot, thank you ❤️
the eggs look delicious !!~
Another awesome episode. How about camping at a Nike Missile launch site?
Thanks, now I'm so dang hungry !!!
There are some large islands in water north of concord. Have you looking into camping on those?
I have been eyeing them up 😉 They all look very marsh-ey, but I don't mind that! Trying to determine which island to pick if I go 🤔
Glad to see more videos, always excited to see where you choose next, is that in Oakland?
It is indeed 😉 Thanks again for watching bro
The Wes Wherever Camping & Cooking Show. (I’ll pack my granola bars and beef jerky in foil - that’s as far as I’ll get food wise.)
Hahaha true, more power to you!! For me it's chili and rice (and trail mix) when I don't wanna cook while camping. Thanks again for watching :)
Mabe call the channel Where is Wes? No vids in 3 weeks, man and I was really liking this channel. I hope you didn't give up! It might be a lil tuff at first but hang in there you will be at 100,000 subs soon enough! Love your channel Hope to see you soon.
Really appreciate your support :) I have had a lot going on lately and the newest video has been taking a long time to edit, but I hope to have it out tomorrow. Thanks for your patience!!

Or like maybe camp near gardiner’s island or shelter island
Hey Wes subscriber here, did you experience encountering a shark when kayaking? if so, how was it?
When soil is too rocky or there is not enough privacy, I will go in a bag (double bag it) in the privacy of the tent and eventually throw it out in a trash can 😅
@@WesWherever thank you for answering!
👍👍
Anyone who drops a dime on a guy with a cayak reminds of the "joke" where the lady calls the cops because there's a naked man across the way from her apartment window. The cop looks out and can only see a man above the waist, bare-chested. He tells the lady that's all he sees and there's nothing wrong with it. She replies, "No, up here on the ladder."
LOL that's good hahaha
If u need or want help cleaning the beach im down to lend a hand :) I live 5 mins away from there!
Wherever is Wes? Hope you're well, miss your vids!
You make the best of every campsite you find, sadly now that that fancy condo is up they might claim that beach for themselves, hopefully it will stay free for wildlife and everyone.
I know, I really hope this spot can continue to be a refuge for both wildlife and people 💙 Thanks again for watching, Betty!! :)
Where is this at?
Oakland Estuary in the San Francisco Bay
Did you just bake cucumber? 😮😢
