    Jake I’m currently building my mk2 vr6 gli and just wanted to say you have been a huge inspiration to my build. Can’t wait to drive it next year. Thanks for all the information and tutorials

    Im glad to discover your channel ... Just an idea ... Golf mk2 with a widebody not a regular one ... a kyza design with Orciari front 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 by the way i own a 1988 1.8 90hp model .

    I've had to bash the passenger frame rail to clearance for the vr6 crank pulley in 2 mk2 cars I've swapped, I've come across 1 car where this was unnecessary because the frame rail was clearanced from factory. I can only assume some models of mk2 cars, have this clearance, and others do not.

    If I could only have one? I would pick my VR6
    I've drove my MK2 vr6 and 1.8t back to back. Same suspension, same wheels and tires. Same road, Same conditions.
    Only difference was the engine and seats.

    Well said, the 1.8t is amazing. Instant power and corners really nice 👍

  • @LithiuM230
    @LithiuM230 2 года назад

    I think some of the Fabless kits you have to bash the frame rail in for the VR swap. Didn’t do it on mine and it self clearanced after a few months of driving. 😅

    3 awesome builds in great detail! Have told many people to watch your videos. The 4 cylinders being more leaned back to the firewall yes the handling will be better. The VR6 is biased forward of the axles making it seem to push more. Great sounds from a VR6. Not all swapped VR6 swap cars will fit with the crank pulley. AAA VR6 12 valve can interfere with using a mk3 K-frame depending on the front cross member used. Just my own experience.

    Like You said Vr is a nice to have. I'd choose 1.8 too, stroke 1 between mk2 and Corrado. I wonder would it be worth it to stroke a 1.8T

  • @Vcaps2491
    @Vcaps2491 2 года назад +1

    Jake, what exact engine mounts did you use again? I have always read you need to bash in the frame rail. I’m in the middle of a swap have corrado cross member and mk3 subframe. Thanks!

      1.8t I use mk3 diesel brackets
      vr6 I use mk3 vr6 brackets

    • @JakeRawSon

      Yes went to the show. It was amazing. First time in 3 years I wasn't running around trying todo a video. It was nice being able to just chill and enjoy it.
      I do feel a little guilty not being about to share with you guys the cool people and stories from the weekend.

      No I'd say a build for me is I started with just the shell

  • @Vexman2200
    @Vexman2200 2 года назад

    Here is a question, would you ever swap the 2.8 VR over to a 3.2 or 3.6 VR?
    I hear the power gains from the 3.2 alone make it a better swap then the 1.8t and you can feel it. even better then a 225
    Regaudless I love your builds and was so happy when you got the corrado

    • @JakeRawSon
      @JakeRawSon  2 года назад

      I have a 3.2 I could swap in if I wanted. But its just not worth it for me. If I lived somewhere that didnt have amazing curved roads then I'd prob be trying to get as much HP I could into a MK2. But then you run into wheel spin. So I'd have to all wheel drive it lol

    • @Vexman2200
      @Vexman2200 2 года назад

      @@JakeRawSon I mean that AWD 3.2 MK2 sounds nice lol.
      I am also very strong on the idea the VR6 really needs to be mid-engine because of weight. I am planning on swapping my 3.2 into my G60 Auto at some point (get rid of that horrid Auto)

  • @KRAMPUS_G60_16V

    Following your work since red VR6, and IMHO 1.8T is more for MKII and VR6 is more for Corrado. :)

    Trouble is, you're it man. Who else in the states was ever making any 80 90's vw build videos? I've watched em all and I hate the a2 platform. We're just all starved for inspiration and information.
    The thread is dead

    • @JakeRawSon

      Very true I cant remember anyone right off the bat.
      Question, Why do you hate the a2 platform?

    • @jasonpeizer9042
      @jasonpeizer9042 2 года назад

      @@JakeRawSon the a2 lets me down with the front subframe and motor mount setup. I think second gens would be best gens with traditional motor mounts. I've owned six and they all needed all the mounts replaced and I broke countless front mounts. Even g60 and vr styles.
