The one we have all been waiting for! This was always my favorite song on the album, I even loved the Zephyr mix (this is the version you will see on the official video), and this performance just catapulted this song on another level! This performance is so intense (yes on Hilda and Samantha and Alan!), the visuals add another dimension, and as much as Dave is incredible here, it's a bit sad as well. I feel grateful all the time that Dave is still with us and as amazing as ever.
An absolute masterpiece, the best in your room performance ever and one of the best performances of Depeche Mode, crazy how good they were. Alan was the GUY.
This is why this tour is so powerful. Although Dave is in complete drug addiction, he's able to give the best of himself to pump up the show. I find everything is perfect during this tour 93/94...94 being much more crazy, nobody could have thought this band was going to do what they did. Amazing tour, the last with mister Wilder.
Dave's condition seems to be getting worse as the tour goes on. During the last months of the tour, on "the exotic tour", he was clearly affected on stage. During the European leg of the tour as this is, at least it's not obvious. Martin's alcohol problems were also visible on stage during the latter part of the tour. Saw some clip from a gig in South America during the exotic tour where Marin had difficulty keeping his balance and difficulty standing straight on stage during the act when he was supposed to sing. It can't have been easy for Alan, who gives the appearance of being the proper one, who probably stayed away from drugs and copious amounts of alcohol, managing Dave and also Martin during this tour. - Which probably contributed to his defection.
@@FredrikAndersson597 and Andy's nervous breakdown.....I think Alan has made the best choice leaving the band, and most of the fans knows how involved he was to make this band so famous and what they still are nowadays.
Have you noticed the bend's reactions while exiting after the song? Alan (according to some rumors, they were severely confronting and hardly speaking to each other at that period of time) hugging Dave in an are-you-ok-man way, Martin so pissed of that he just passes by him not even looking at him and poor Fletch who has always been a kind of peace-maker pushing him gently out, just like a father whose son could have killed himself, and he is scared to death but happy to see him alive, unsure whether he should beat a shit out of him or hug and kiss him in a relief... Martin was nervous till the end of the show, you can notice his eyes following Dave in a "what nonsense could you think of next, and how to prevent you from doing it" manner (and a not very sincere smile at the end of the Everything counts when Dave hugs him) . And try to concentrate on Martin's voice during the diving chaos, just like he screamed out all his anger, making the entire situation even more tensed ... nevertheless, I was listening to IYR live 20 years after this show, and despite the fact I just love the song, it was not nearly half this strong experience as on this performance. This performance is a masterpiece.
look at the framing, while the face of the woman on the screen is thrown on the audience .... the singers who scream suffering, the sweaty body transported, and the conclusion, wilder in the shadow between blue and gold of the drums and the air satisfied with gore touching the last note on the keyboard...still today I feel the same strong melancholy emotion
Finally! Been waiting for this song. This is imo their best song. So much power and darkness. I'm so glad I was able to see this live (in Stockholm) back then. Also, that's a first class stagedive. All rock'n'roll you know. :)
Some of us were practically speaking in code so you couldn’t catch on what song came next. The light bulbs do make an appearance in the music video and the women were probably there…I’m not sure why but I loved the visuals in this song. As far as the stage diving, Dave also did it when I saw DM in Los Angeles. Dave’s hand might have been shaking from needing a drug fix possibly. Your reaction to the stage dive was classic! I’ve never seen you that shocked or laugh so hard! Thanks for taking us old devotees down memory lane. : )
I think Dave was sweaty and shaky because of the drugs. That's also probably why he did the unplanned stage dive. I really miss Alan, but they didn't add a new member to replace him. However, when they go on tour, Depeche Mode employs an additional keyboard player and a drummer.
Yes. He, Alan, will be missed after he leaves. For some not so much, for others his exit means that an era ends and a new one begins. Personally, I didn't think much at the time about what his defection would mean. It was more afterwards, when new records were released without Alan, that I noticed that the soul of the group in the music had disappeared a little. The exceptionally distinctive sound had been replaced by a sound that was certainly still distinctive but with a less unique soul - if I should try to put it into words. He returned to Depeche on two brief occasions after his departure. Once he makes a guest appearance around the year 2010(?) and comes on stage and sits down at the piano and plays "Sombody" to Martin's song. A second time is when in 2009 he makes a mix of the song "In chains", which completely transforms the song from the original on the album - Alan Wilder style.
That’s exactly what always surprised me ! It wasn’t planed of course but her eyes closing after he jump like if she was disappointed and just on the screen in front of which he did that !
At those times Dave has to be nightmare of security and bodyuards with his love in stage diving 🙂 Absolutelly best version and EPIC performance of this song ever. One of their masterpiece - it builds an atmosphere from soft and gentle start to the energetic burst - like lectric storm 😀

Hello Seph! This must be the most stunning DM live performance ever, I mean... EVERYTHING was perfect on this track: the choristers, the stage, the visuals, the music, the lead singer's energy, do I need to say more?. P.S.: Alan on drums, can anyone else look that sexy while concentrating?... I don't think so! 🤩🔥❤️🔥
Even if he’s of course not the best drummer for DM his playing was perfect… DM doesn’t need a « classic » rock drummer Alan did a perfect job and his way of playing drum fit perfectly with the climax and with electro drum sounds and with their songs in general … not more than songs needed… Actually Christian Eigner is a good drummer but in general it is « too much » for what songs would need… my opinion
Aber es ist schon geil, was Christian Eigner trommelt!!! Eine Stufe höher ist z. B. Delta Empire mit „it‘s no good „. Mehr geht fast nicht… Deshalb meine persönliche Nr. 4 aller DM Songs! Aber in your room 1993 live bleibt unerreichbar meine Nummer 1!!! Das ist das non plus ultra🥰
Seph! I have to say, I think I told you it was going to be a banger live! HaHaHa. One word: WOW! I just love it, so much ever more. Regarding Dave, I am pretty sure it was Definitely NOT planned. Alan concentrating? Yes, he was, unfortunately, so focused on the drumming and on getting everything just right, he's not enjoying him (and not sure how much the other guys are either). You gotta love the visuals though; seeing the official music will help make them make a little more sense. Dave, yeah he was definitely out it (possibly from drug withdrawal), for this particular song performance, regarding his hand shaking and him flying off the stage. I have seen & heard a lot of other bootleg live cuts from the tour; Dave did and said a lot of crazy things, including many 4-letters expletives! I said the same thing when I first saw the video! Cheers!
Seph , please hear the complete song with close eyes! It’s a triple banger with a crown! You never can hear a better performance from the god’s of music…😂
Oh and if you watch the official video it will make sense of the light bulb thing, and the promo art for the single, the vinyl/cd uses the light bulb theme. The audio for the video is the Zephyr mix. Some like it, some don't. I like it, but the album version should've been used.
"He's got a little bit of the shakes going on here." (1:15) It's quite the contrast between Alan and Dave here. As you pointed out, Alan is really concentrating on playing the drums, and as such, I imagine he's pretty darn sober. Compared to Dave who is visibly high. Dave sounds like he's out of breath on the final chorus. "It's so great to have live drums...I am gonna miss this guy. I'm gonna miss Alan... Whoever comes in next has got big boots to fill." (7:35) Boots that ultimately were never filled. I love this concerned look on your face, wondering if Dave is alright after his stage dive. (10:05) So damn cute. I love this "drunken" arm whip and stumble Dave does after being set back on stage. (10:38) It really drives home just how messed up he is. I think the stage dive was planned and was part of Dave's routine at the end of "In Your Room" on this tour. I think the security team knew what was coming. I think for the most part the audience caught Dave enough so that he didn't hit the floor hard. But given the drugs he was on, he may not have felt the effects if he did. Stage diving was popular in the 90s with the grunge and modern rock bands. And no doubt Dave was emulating this.
Shame that Dave's olympic dive practice distract you from one of the best and powerful live performances ever recorded by a backing singer... i had the fortune to listen to this first (on the SOFAD Live Album) before to watch it on the Devotional dvd and maaan, that girl killed it...

I wish if Dave and Martin repair the relationship with Alan and see he is necessary in the band. Why don´t dream???
1993-07-21 Festhalle, Frankfurt, Germany Anton Corbijn shot a part of his live film Devotional here. Dave Gahan invites a female fan on stage towards the end of Fly On The Windscreen and sings "kiss me" instead of "touch me". There were problems with Dave's microphone during I Feel You and Rush. During In Your Room, Dave stagedived. Here is Daryl Bamonte's entry for the famous Devotional Tour Diary, published in Bong magazine in 1994: It was 1978, and he was a young punk who had sneaked onto the stage and was dancing around in his bondage trousers, next to Joe Strummer. As the roadies rushed to get him, he ran full speed and as he flew into the crowd, he floated for a second, half hero, half angel. When he landed he realised it wasn’t 1978, it was 1993, and he was the singer of Depeche Mode and 12,000 Germans were trying to rip his trousers off.
The crowd dive on the last show of this tour in 1994 went really wrong. He broke his rib and felt the pain the morning after. Adrenaline (and drugs) really can numb pain.
I was lucky enough to be at that show. It was in Indianapolis. Since it was their last show of the tour partying was happening. Champagne🍾 bottles were poppin'. No one had any clue that he had hurt himself. I read about it the next morning in the paper.
The stage diving here is classic. Would rather say that the song choice to make such a dive is perfect. In my opinion, a stage dive is not suitable for "just can't get enough", "everything counts" or similar pop songs, but is best for more epic powerful songs. "In your room", maybe "stripped", at the end of "clean" "walking in my shoes" or similar. 😉
Seph, one question. Thousands of people see this video, why do only a few (just over a hundred) like this video? maybe you have to point it out, so only if it helps your channel😉 In your room 1993… unforgettable!!! This was a very good moment at the concert, i remeber well😎 The stage dive, ok. Luckily this is the first and last time he did it. unnecessary and frankly it doesn't fit DM, luckily he was caught😂 And no, this was not „planned“… welcome to the drugs😑 And by the way, during the stage dive , did you hear the vocals of the background singer? Amazing!!!😉
I personally hateeeeeee RUclipsrs who say "Like, comment and subscribe" gahhhhh so annoying! Ohhh yeah i'm very happy he never done that again haha and yeah on the second and third listen i did :D Stunning :D
Another great reaction to another great performance Seph. This is my 3rd favorite song on SOFAD but In my opinion this was one of the best performances of the concert because of how similar it sounds to the album version.

I was lucky enough to be at that show. It was in Indianapolis. Since it was their last show of the tour partying was happening. Champagne🍾 bottles were poppin'. No one had any clue that he had hurt himself. I read about it the next morning in the paper.
4 more songs for the Encore the last one is one of your favorite maybe your favorite one ;)
next can be: De/Vision - 25 Years Best Of Tour 2013 (2014)
@@csabagodor9445 I would prefer HURTS (band) , they are the most similar Depeche sounding groups outhere !
God, I wish I was there also watch the David Letterman one where he got a haircut it's very good .
Seph, one question. Thousands of people see this video, why do only a few (just over a hundred) like this video? maybe you have to point it out, so only if it helps your channel😉
In your room 1993… unforgettable!!!
This was a very good moment at the concert, i remeber well😎
The stage dive, ok.
Luckily this is the first and last time he did it. unnecessary and frankly it doesn't fit DM, luckily he was caught😂
And no, this was not „planned“… welcome to the drugs😑
And by the way, during the stage dive , did you hear the vocals of the background singer? Amazing!!!😉
I personally hateeeeeee RUclipsrs who say "Like, comment and subscribe" gahhhhh so annoying!
Ohhh yeah i'm very happy he never done that again haha
and yeah on the second and third listen i did :D Stunning :D
Der Song von DM! My number one of my DM Top Ten! My number one in my lifetime!❤
bro i like your videos , can you review duran duran`s , "wing" from their new album future past?
it's a Trustfall...
Which shows the depth of the experienced content!
Another great reaction to another great performance Seph. This is my 3rd favorite song on SOFAD but In my opinion this was one of the best performances of the concert because of how similar it sounds to the album version.
El show se lo gana Gahan!.
