    I'm just outside the ULEZ in Bucks, so keeping my MK4 for a while yet as cost of change would still be more than paying once in a while. Appreciate your content and look forward to seeing how you get on with the Mk5.

    I recently bought a Mk5 Mondeo. The system was way out of date. It was only 2.0. Not only did I have to update the system via USB but I had to update the Navigation system as it was displaying 'Navigation Fault' after about 8hrs all in it's running great.

      I’m liking the car a lot. In many ways it was good to be pushed into replacing the mk4. On a motorway I’m getting 54mpg, it’s quiet in the cabin and the ride is good. The sync 3 navigation system is good and easy to navigate. I like I can hook up my mobile via the USB port and get the mobile apps like What’s App, Google maps etc working on it. You can use the voice commands to reply to messages, tune the radio, and alter the air con. I’m not quite so impressed with the Dab radio which feels like the antenna is weak and prone to interference from bad usb cables or even dash cams on the rear window. This is the first time I’ve had an electronic hand brake and it has the brake assist for smooth hill starts. It works pretty well and makes the interior look a lot neater. I also like that it actually has a skinny spare tyre. It has tyre pressure monitoring which has been useful as my front offside has a very slow leak (3 weeks). The tyres are near shot so I’m nursing them at the moment and will get replaced soon. Oh yes and finally the service interval is a staggering 18000 miles or two years. When I bought the car it was coming off lease and just had a major service including a brake fluid flush.
      Being a newer car it is very reliable which means my content has been limited to the routine maintenance stuff. The mk4 was obviously a little more challenging.
      Thanks for watching.

    Hi just watched your video on sync 3 update just for future reference Ford uk/Europe don’t do WiFi updates it’s a USA Ford option only we have to do it the usb way or need to go ford dealer I tried doing WiFi updates few years back got in touch with ford customer service and told WiFi not an option in uk also got told it could be done via fordpass eh eh doesent work that may change on future cars like electric ones

      That’s interesting and confirms what I was already suspecting. Makes you wonder why the car can link to wifi and it has a method for checking for updates in settings. I’ve been chasing another problem between the DAB reception and Apple CarPlay and thought I would check if there was another firmware update that might help only to find there was another minor map update that the car via wifi hadn’t found.
      Thanks watching and thanks for the comment.

    Bought a 2017 Mondeo MKV. 2 litre TDCI ECOnetic Zetec approx 3 months ago and tried to update the maps without success. Even the local dealer where I purchased the vehicle from had no success. After numerous emails back and forth to Ford they have now said that there is no updates and won't be in the future for this vehicle. Annoyingly the maps were not up to date when the vehicle was sold new in 2017. Any ideas or comments?

      Only what I did. Update the firmware first and then the maps.

    Also when you are updating your system, make sure you go into the vehicle settings and uncheck the auto shutdown box otherwise your car will automatically turn off after 20 minutes and ruin the installation!

      I’ve had a look in my settings and could not find an auto shutdown function. Keeping the engine running keeps the radio on. Thanks for the comment.

      Check your firmware version compared to the update file to make sure the update is newer. Make sure there is only one update file on the usb at a time. Plug it into the usb port in the console and start the engine. It should start the update automatically as I showed in the video.

    I dont understand why you say mk4 mondeo not ulez compliant. I own a mk4 2017 mondeo 2 ltr diesel estate. And ion ulez compliant check it says it's compliant. So don't understand what you're saying.

    • @NigelEaland
      @NigelEaland  8 месяцев назад +1

      Mine was a 2008 and a Euro 5 engine. I did the same and it wasn’t compliant. After 2015 it was mandatory to fit Euro 6 engines to new cars and that’s what you have and so is compliant. Thanks for watching.

      @@NigelEaland to be honest the bloody ulez zone isn't needed, with a bit of luck he'll lose at tge election and hopefully the next mayor will do away with it. Just a cash vow for kahn.
