I had a friend once whose dad told him, " every time a man dies, a library closes". I came to realize that we each hold a very specific amount of skilled knowledge that in the past was a shame that it could not be reached into once we walked into the great beyond. Here on RUclips, visually seeing your work, reading your notes and hearing your voice, on how to do something that to many of us is very complex is like looking into your library of knowledge. Thank you for being generous with your time, your patience and your willingness to share your skills with us. I hope that you know, even when we don't comment, to say, "thank you Master", that you know, that among us are very grateful people that find your library very full, very colorful and very interesting. You have inspired me to be better than I am in many ways. This video translates itself so far into 8,699 hours that we as your audience spent watching you teach. Imagine what effect you have on the world with the total of your good works. And with you posting your skills here, the library is never closed. Its a great honor to sit at your side and watch and re-watch your work. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing In my country (Mexico) all the people are jelous to share knowledge that I have to learn the hard way by ruin materials/breaking needless/wrong thread/adjusting the sewing machine. Now I spend a few hours a week watching the tutorials frm Cechaflo. I have improved myself and the quality of my work. Thank you !
Hello Nicolas, not only me, there are many generous people willing to share what they have learnt for the sake of many people who also are so eager to learn a trade or something useful for their lives and family. I am glad my videos are useful! You are welcome anytime!
Hello Cechaflo, I want to begin by saying that I love your attention to detail, in ALL of your videos, so needless to say, I am a HUGE fan!! And THANK YOU!! I have VERY few videos posted on my own channel, and I’ve been encouraged to post more by friends and family, mainly because I love to explain things, and in the Custom car/Truck building & Restoration world, very few builders have the same mentality as I do, where, from the start of a build, to the finished product, I’d prefer not to be reliant on anyone else to get the job done, you never know if you’re going to receive exactly the end product you had imagined, and everyone’s taste is slightly different, so, from tear down, to metalwork and custom fabrication, to body and custom paint, to engineering and custom interiors, I do it all myself… Although it takes a considerable amount of time, to me and the gratification I receive, and piece of mind, it’s well worth it! I have watched MANY of your videos, and you are definitely a master of your craft which I could only hope to be a fraction as talented as yourself, but I give it my best shot! One question I wanted to ask you, is I noticed in this video, compared to the tutone Double stitch relief you made another video on, that the raised portions appear to be 2 different types of material? I am just going for a simple pattern and a few low reliefs on the face of the door card, So the material you used in this video looks like a type of semi-rigid 1/4” thick stiff insulation, but I wondered if a light and dense closed-cell foam or rubber might work for the same effect?
Hello Mark, Thanks for your kind comment! Regarding your question, in this video I used a 1/8" thick, shoe's insole cardboard. The same kinda soft cardboard I used in this other video: ruclips.net/video/IF5qL9vAzhQ/видео.html The other material I used in another video is called Eva foam 1/4" of an inch thick. I really like this custom panel effects, your attention to details is very inspirational to me. I worked as an auto trimmer in my youth ( long time ago) often rebuilding door panels for classic cars, this type of work was always very satisfying to do and look back on. I would like to ask why did you not use a "roller" that's the same width as the gap needed ( you need a few rollers in a set) and also guide the roller with a long steel ruler to ensure an exact pressure and straight press. Perhaps even press and weight and leave a wooden panel in the recess overnight could create a sharp line.
Dear James, I am glad you are also a car trimmer! Basically, I do upholstery as a hobby, and every off and on I do a particular job. Thanks for the suggestion!
Amazing... Thanks again Cechaflo, I'm learning a lot how to work on door cards and stuff with your videos to work on my own car, here in Brazil, and this is another one that will be really really useful on it! :)

I am located in Mexico and this stuff is very easy to find at any shoe material suppliers. It is a kind of cardboard shoemakers use it for shoe's insoles. The thickness is 2.2 mm, I have used a soft pressed cardboard 1.3 mm thick as padding. Materials on top are leather an a synthetic vinyl.
What glue are you using and how long does it stay so you can work with the material?? I have a 1935 Hupmobile which has mohair and was wondering if the glue would seep through to the front and ruin the material?? Plus it is a more intricate design. thanx Pg
Philip Giacomantonio I'm using a yellow glue which comes in cans or bottles...it's pasted with a brush both surfaces and let them dry for a few minutes (10 -15 min)...the glue is 'ready' to stick when it does not stick to your fingers. I have never worked with 'mohair'...If you are going to glue this material, do some tests before to make sure is useful. Check: www.homedepot.com/p/DAP-32-fl-oz-Weldwood-Original-Contact-Cement-00272/100125525 www.tandyleather.com/en-usd/home/department/leather-cement-glue/2525-360.aspx
Philip Giacomantonio After the 'glue drying time' the 'soft cardboard pieces' are immediately attached to the 'hard cardboard'...the cardboard strips without glue are removed. The attaching of pieces is really forever...the sticking is very strong.
Nice work! What is the name of the yellow glue you are using? I tried the spray on stuff "Tact 92" out of the can on vinyl and it's coming apart. LOL So now I'm going to redo the interior in leather.
HI Brady, Thanks for following me on youtube! The yellowish glue/contact cement or adhesive is the one most of the upholsterers, leather artisans and shoemakers use...I bought it in cans and apply it by using a spatula or brush...I can get it in hardware stores, Walmart, Home Depot, upholstery suppliers, etc...there are different good trade marks...try to get a good one. Good Luck!
I'm using a 'yellow glue/cement/adhesive' most of the upholsterers, shoemakers and leather artisans use. This glue comes in cans or glass bottles...you could get this glue at the hardware store or section in Walmart, Home Depot, etc. There are also upholstery suppliers, such as Tandy Leather, etc. where you could get this stuff. I can get this yellow glue at any hardware store in a corner of my neighbourhood...here, in Mexico.

@@claudiucoldea6379 I understand now. Are you thinking in sticking the fabric directly to the cardboard base? There are two ways of glueing application: the first way is by using a brush and using a 'brushable yellow glue'. This glue is kind of viscous. The other way is by using a 'painting gun' for glue application. This glues is a special very 'fluid yellow glue' for the 'painting gun'. In this video I use the 'brush method':ruclips.net/video/coueKGKYlds/видео.html In this other video I show the 'painting gun' method:ruclips.net/video/Y8FfRBY4LtQ/видео.html You could see in latter video I have stuck the 'fabric/thick velour' over a 'foamed back headliner' as a base. The fabric was not glued down directly to the cardboard base. The fabric should not be porous to avoid the glue passes through to its right side. To clean the old glue gently scratch the cardboard surface with a brush.

It is a kind of cardboard shoemakers use it for shoe's insoles. The thickness is 2.2 mm, I have used a soft pressed cardboard 1.3 mm thick as padding. Materials on top are leather an a synthetic vinyl.
@@Cechaflo Thank you sir for your reply.

How long does it stay so you can take off pieces as you do in video. I thought once you use contact cement, it is on for life? Thanx PG
Good Luck!
Amazing!!!
Thanks so much for appreciating this art craft!
GREAT VIDEO! what kind of glue are you using? i have been using 3M glue Spray ahesive but it is messyy
Excelente!

Started to reupholster the roof of a car . I have chosen a very thin fabric material to substitute the old one . Please tell me if you know what adhesive should use and how to clean the old adhesive from the support .
Have you got 'headliner material'? I mean the thin foamed headliner fabric.
You have chosen a foamed back headliner?: www.joann.com/headliner-utility-fabric-54in-gray/3496064.html
Or just the thin fabric alone?
@@Cechaflo Yes I did .
@@Cechaflo Are you asking if my material is foamed ? No it is not .No foam at all . Just the fabric .
In this video I use the 'brush method':ruclips.net/video/coueKGKYlds/видео.html
In this other video I show the 'painting gun' method:ruclips.net/video/Y8FfRBY4LtQ/видео.html You could see in latter video I have stuck the 'fabric/thick velour' over a 'foamed back headliner' as a base. The fabric was not glued down directly to the cardboard base. The fabric should not be porous to avoid the glue passes through to its right side.
To clean the old glue gently scratch the cardboard surface with a brush.
excellent teacher work. to the draft of the door q material is?
marcelo leon The material is cheap 'stationery cardboard'(cartulina escolar)...you could replace it for something similar.
Fantástico
That is a very nice glue..What is the name of it and the brand.Regards

Has the underlying raised pattern been made by using a thick felt product?
To do the raised pattern I used a 3 mm thick shoes insole cardboard...it has some kind of softness... not so stiff.

what type of sewing machine do I need to do this?
The vinyl is a synthetic material (polymer) or by-product from the petroleum. The synthetic plastic is on top and a fabric on the reverse as backing.
Automotive vinyls:www.albrightssupply.com/automotive-vinyls
What kind of glue are you using?
Hello! What is the main glue you use when working with Skin? What is the Name of the glue and where can I buy it? Respectfully!

You would have to find a similar in your country.ruclips.net/video/o2xeezdF8Ss/видео.html

Outstanding work. I'm curious, what motor are you using on your sewing machine?
Thanks for kind remark! ...When necessary to do precise sewings I turn off the motor of my sewing machine and move the 'big wheel or pulley by hand. Servo motors are very useful in this cases and easier to operate at a very slow pace .
Cechaflo
Oh ok I see. Thanks for the reply. I watched all your videos yesterday and I found them to be very helpful. I only started sewing last year and bought myself an old Durkopp walking foot machine and changed the clutch motor for a servo one. I'm trying to redo my cars interior as a project. Looking forward to more videos!
