As someone who runs a business and has all the domestic stuff to do at home after a day's work and after paperwork, I would love a washing machine that washed my clothes, dried my clothes and put them away! #BusyLives

I would want one, that robot would be sorting my clothes everyday. Hopefully it can pair all my socks.

I loved watching the Jetsons when I was growing up! The 2 things that always stood out for me were the instant perfect food machine & the machine that got you ready in the morning. In no time you would be showered, dressed, hair & makeup done.
It is amazing to think back & see how many things they have close to.

This is such a great idea, Maddie!! I've actually never seen the Jetsons, but I love the idea that science fiction of the past actually influenced our current level of technological advancement. People talk a lot about various devices in Star Trek being the inspiration for things like iPhones or MRIs, so it's cool to see that other technologies may have roots in other classic sci fi.
As far as the MARUH Z is concerned, humanoid robots are a LITTLE too close to the uncanny valley for me. I know scientists work hard to avoid this, but there's just something about a machine having eyes that freaks me out. Especially a machine that aimlessly wanders around my house picking up my loose socks :)

I loved watching The Jetsons when I was a kid during the 1970s about the same time I watched Star Trek and Space 1999.

Oh I remember that show! Although I was very little when that show aired in thevNL, so I don't remember much.

Awesome, Maddie Moate , you're covering a topic, which I was actually thinking about for so long!
Maybe, someday you could also talk about theoretical inventions by da Vinci that are being executed these days?

I did a FaceTime call for the first time tonight. Although I found it inconvenient to keep holding the phone to keep myself on camera, it's cool to be able to move the phone around to show someone what my apartment looks like. It's not quite the same experience as it would be if the phone were stationary like what is played out on the Jetsons. Also, one episode, the one with the "indestructible jacket", shows orders coming through with a printer spitting out paper, looking very much like what we would call a fax machine.

There are so many in old movies/serien:
Knight Rider: Wrist phone - always wanted to have one ... now available for Apple and Android
Star Trek: Tricorder - pretty much like a smartphone
Terminator: Google Glass - not the same but close
Dr. Who: Universal translator - google translator, wordlens

So, it's been two weeks since I found your lovely little corner on the interwebs and I am absolutely in love.
I really love your videos, you're putting so much effort and love in them and that's what makes them unique and special. So I guess I should say thanks since you've inspired me a lot. Thank you very much for being you, for loving Sherlock and all the awesome geeky stuff. Thank you for teaching me new things and making me want to understand the world.
    You are wonderful. (^__^)/

Maddie Moate have you heard of the flying cars that were recently invented, kind of like the ones on the Jetson's? There are videos of it on RUclips. It looks pretty cool! I want one!

I rarely watched dopey cartoons as a child and teenager until I saw the animated Star Trek series and The Jetsons in the 1970s. However, I did like The Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Blake's 7.

  • @missshellybeach

Jetsons used moving walkways. travelators (flat escelators) like at airports they use today hotels are using robot butlers called the BOTlr which usesgpstracking technology and building schematics and problem solving technology to deliver food beverages and other room service items to guest rooms like Rosie the house maid the Jetsons also has face to face telecommunication like face time on Apple devices today

  • @stygn

Would I want one? Well yes, but I don't think it would help me a lot. The technology isn't quite there yet, and I think the design is actually quite silly. Why on earth would you make a maid-bot in the shape of a human? It's not very practical with regards to manoeuvrability and stability, and also with regards to sheer size.
I would think that a smaller bot on a square base with a multi jointed arm (or several arms) with a type of hand (or several different interchangeable attachments stored in the base). It could fold together and drive under your bed to recharge. What about stairs you say? Well, there are plenty of solutions for this, so that's not a problem. It could reach much further then a "human-bot", be more stable then a "human-bot" and take much less space then a "human-bot".
Are there any advantages at all to make them in the shape of a human? Yes, our arms and hands are quite neat, but the way we move around is quite silly and hard to replicate with a machine. I kind of feel like they're not trying to make a maid-bot, they're trying to make a cool-bot. "Look at us, we made this thing walk!" Sure, it's progress of sorts, but the actual real life application isn't really robotics, but rather bionics.
Great to see you're still making videos Maddie!!
