That always make me laugh, when George Jetson says hold it. I said hold it not disappear. Those cartoons were the greatest ever. Funny, hilarious, and harmless.

In Kansas, when these two cartoons were new, during 1960s and early 1970s, and I was a child, the Jetsons were on every Saturday morning and the Flintstones were on M-F at 6:30 pm.

Both families just happened to speak the same English ... I guess language doesn't really evolve over time.
To be fair, it WAS the MODERN Stone Age.
It was a fictional cartoon that did fictional things just like other cartoons. A caveman wouldn't be able to communicate with people from the jetsons time period at all because they had their own language that started out as gibberish before it became Latin.

Random Dude is correct, google "Earth Etymology" and you will find out our planet was named after dirt. Him saying "Earth" in this sense means ground thus their structures are floating and are not susceptible to earthquakes.

One of the best movies I've seen when I was a kid
What if we are wrong ? What if mankind got so advance and they nearly destroyed themself and had to start all the way from stone age like days. One of the reason why Flintstones had the concept of cars, planes and all other things that we see in today's world and were not present during the actual stone age
How is no one seeing that The Flintstones have the lever set to PAST in their time machine and not FUTURE, and that's why they went to The Jetsons time. Therefore the Flintstones came after the Jetsons, the difference is that the Jetsons went to space and The Flintstones stayed on Earth
0:56 the lever is there, 1:00 lever no longer there (lazy artists). 2:50 lever is there again, still in past position.
Also as Elroy said earlier in the movie, he believes they went so far into the future that they ended up in the past. There have been many shows since this that explored the idea of time being looped, travel too far into the future, end up in the past.
In the words of Rustin Cohle: "Time is a flat circle. Everything we have done or will do we will do over and over and over again forever."

@@TheZombiesAreComing Time is looped for real. What we know as the 21 century should really be the 1st century and the years reversing again like in the prehistoric days. It works much the same as daylight savings time switching to standard time and vice versa.

And Wilma remarked, "Oh-ho, so now you're saying it's MY fault?" and Fred answered, "If the shoe was invented, wear it!"

Best animated ever when space age and stone age came together. I love when George said Hold It and the other family disappeared. I said Hold It not disappeared. Mel Blanc is the voice of Barney Rubble and Cosmo Spacely. I always love the Flintstones better than the Jetsons.
I was 11 in 1987, and this was like the moon landing for me. Was totally psyched to watch it
One of the most iconic things about Barney Rubble was his laugh. Barney didn’t laugh ONCE in this whole movie. Weird!

Yeah I remember we were trying to sing the *_Eep Opp Ork Ah Ah_* song from the *_Jet Screamer_* episode. I'll tell you though in this clip all the voices sounds like the original actors but the voices for Elroy and Barney (originally Mel Blanc's voice) are spot-on.

I absolutely loved the Flintstones! I adored the "Ann Margrock episode!" I do believe characters were based on "The Honeymooners." I tried very hard to like the Jetsons and even watched most episodes, but really never enjoyed enough to watch over again.

According to Hanna Producers, George Jetson is a direct descendant of Fred Flintstone and Pebbles & Bam-Bam. Just look at George's hair color with Wilma's Flintstone's and his chin to Fred, not to mention his Daughter has White hair like Bam-Bam and physique like Pebbles.

There has always been a theory that The Jetsons and Flintstones live in the same time, but The Jetsons live above them.
That would explain how the Flintstones could have cars, bowling, garbage disposals, etc.

No one ever looked into the lyrics of the flintstones " a very modern family in a page of time" it never explicitly states past. Also the flintstones are to advanced to be cavemen. It was suggested nd hinted by the creator that the flintstones where in fact the future and the jetsons where there past.

I'd love to see Warner Bros "paint in" the sides to make it widescreen. Maybe even push technology and do the same with 'The Wizard of Oz'. Don't change the original, just enhance it to bring it to new audiences.

Flintstones are Jetson's future. Humanity got too advanced. Nuclear war occurred (Pandemic?) . Everything turned to shit. People remember the ways but don't have the means to use them the same way. That's why Flintstones have cars and all that modern ideas.
