A marvelous visit for us to the border. And oh how your "run for the border" made me smile. Our undefended border has always been a testament to what is right and good between people. I'm so glad that our park systems have brought us together, too, to create wildlife corridors. I love here how you call our eyes to the beauties both large and small along the way. Have a beautiful weekend, dear Donna! Linda
Hiking around the cliffs looks great I would skip those flat rocks on the lake - sorry birds Looks like a great spot to escape from the US if need be That lake is great relaxing place, even if not Canada! I always hated chipmunks in my garden but they do look cute here Beautiful adventure in the rugged terrain Thanks Donna Cheers 👍
I agree, the lake has some great spots for skipping stones. Chipmunks are much cuter than squirrels and both are way better in the forest, even if the squirrel was throwing stuff at us! Have a great day!
WHat a great hike Donna. Chris Uncle lives in Montana. I saw wow to the trees right when you said it! Sad when a forest is burnt!! Poor Wildlife and trees! I like the peaceful sound of the water on the rocks!! I have a tough time crossing streams,, your Husband is like mine,,, goes right across fast!! Oh my a Bear! Glad he got a meal!! Sweet little bee getting some pollen befor winter rolls in!! I always like to see False Solomon's Seal!!
A very enjoyable hike in this special location Donna. I did not know about the open border with Montana, glad you enjoyed your brief visit to the states without being bothered. It is a wonderful park. the views of the bay with the mountains in the distance are So beautiful and peaceful. Glad the bears were not around and so sweet watching the chipmunk dining and hear about the cranky squirrel ;) Best regards, Cathy
Good evening Donna, thank you so much for this lovely video. This hike through Boundary Bay has nature that looks like paradise, breathtaking. Thank you so much for sharing these wonders. It seems impossible that this place is the border between Canada and the United States. Have a nice evening. greetings. Manu
Stunning, no other words for it but stunning. Was that a collard grouse (@4:57)? Gorgeous. I had to pause the video and make a second cup of tea to watch to the end. What a beautiful world we live in - and how amazing I can see all this from my Woman Cave. Donna what a great start to 2025. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
Hi Anita! Yes, that's another named for the grouse. Very cute birds and I'm glad they were tame enough to let us get close. It's very fun to be able to travel the world vicariously through YT friends. Have a great weekend!
So fun to see this area of Waterton Lakes and Montana! We’ve hiked and backpacked on the other side at Glacier NP- love that area. We didn’t bring passports so didn’t go into Canada, would love to hike there too. You saw lots of great nature, birds and plants!! 👌💚💚👍👍 - Jen 😄
That was so neat to be able to cross the border there. I love all the different plants you point out. I thought the bead lilies were so cool looking. Also very neat to see the bark scratched off the trees and seeing all those grouse.
@@DonnaTaibossigaicould be another state if DjT can arrange it. Border's pretty well useless anyway 😂. Thanks for picking up some trash, I appreciate it😁. Always a pleasure my friend s, beautiful share🤝. Never been there, thanks for takin us there. Surely is beautiful....
An amazing location for a hike Donna. A photographers dream that lake scene with the mountains, I bet it is gorgeous and a brilliant place to camp in the summer months. Great wildlife shots too, the Grouse, Chipmunk and especially the aggressive Squirrel.
It is so nice to walk in the mountains in beautiful scenery with birds and squirrels. But I'm glad you didn't encounter any bears in the woods! Some parts of the trail looked hard, but it was a nice hike! 🤩👍✨
Hey Donna. A beautiful hike. So cool being able to hop across the border and back. Glad you didn’t get swat teamed. What a fabulous spot for a snack. Picture perfect. Great following along with you both. Have a good weekend. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Hi Donna! Waterton Lakes National Park was one of my all time favorites that I have ever visited. This was such a pretty hike. Loved the grouse and the cute chipmunk. So much beautiful nature along the way. I will have to look into this hike if I make my way back to that park someday. 🙂👍
There are quite a few interesting hikes and it would definitely be great to do some backcountry camping in Waterton. This one was a fun way of visiting Montana and seeing some beautiful scenery along the way. Thanks so much for popping by!
Hello, Donna. The chocobo that appeared on the walking trail, it seems to have guided you along the way. Beautiful blue berries. A signpost on the border. Must be fun to walk.🌳
6:30 the mountain view is really amazing. I am so glad along the trail you got some bird or you called feather friend. Nice sharing with a very beautiful lake dear.
Having been to the southern US border, it's nice to see it's all open here without an ugly huge wall! Beautiful view from the campsite! Enjoyed the wildlife on this and the perfect clear water on the lake, I'd have been tempted to go for a dip! I'm a bit of a geek so found it pretty cool you were standing there at the border haha. Is it undefended all the way across? I always wanted to walk across from one border to the other, for example across the bridge from Windsor-Detroit. Well, if Trump gets his way you'll all be the same country anyway 😂 love the squirrel 😅 I'm glad you didn't walk in on a bear eating their meal! Yeah, backcountry definitely adds an extra element when it comes to walking even shorter distances. Awesome place!
Thanks so much, Matt. Undefended is a matter of perspective, as driving or flying across, the border guards (apparently not a form of defense?) will check your passport and be on the lookout for drugs and alcohol and naughty intentions, so some areas are more defended than others. I would take a more strict border before becoming the 51st State, that's for sure, and an army of angry squirrels would definitely be something to avoid! Lol. Have a great day.
Some beautiful country there Donna as Lyndon said why have a boarder! he did have a point the similarities are many ! We had no boarders too before Brexit ! I miss that freedom to cross unfettered ! unlike now 😢 keep your boarder but keep it unfettered! rights are so easy removed yet so hard to win ! But back to the hike it was amazing 👌🏻 Never thought of the spider webs 🕸️ as you did (no bears 🐻) Very best wishes Simon 🤠👍
It's a gorgeous area and I think it's very nice that you can trek over the border at least temporarily (if you're hiking overnight you are supposed to call the officials and declare your entry and departure). I hope the change in presidency doesn't alter our freedoms as it's threatening our trade already. But yes, it was a great hike and a fun way of crossing a border. Have a great day, Simon!
Belated greetings, A Happy New Year! Wish you, two a prosperous year 2025! I like the title Run for the border? haha Oh I read in the description that it was filmed in September last year. Sorry to learn about large range of the wildfire.. we often see it here as well That makes sense. I thought you hiked in the winter brrrr snowed in NC at 18 degrees haha another wildlife counter...your observation makes me chuckle. 6:25 is he flirting with you? haha Outstanding wildlife observation..ahahhhhh..bear scratched it? 19:24 After all, it is peaceful hike in the National Park. I am curious...is the forests in US side National Park as well? Beyond extraordinary... Nature is priceless. I am finally back home from months of evacuation from natural disaster by Helene s The water system took for a long time to restored in my city. Some roads are still closed and so are most of hiking trails Sorry My comments disappeared even I use my subs...had to wait for days to try dropping my comment.
Thank you Ms. Kayak! It was a very enjoyable hike and a neat way of entering the U.S. Glad to hear your are back at home - that's been a long time to be away! I can't imagine what the people in California are going through with the wildfire there. Even if a person's home was spared they still might be evacuated for a long time. Hope you had a good holiday season despite not being at home. Stay safe and warm!
Your footage was absolutely amazing! Wishing you an wonderful day. Warm greetings from Canada!
What a beautiful visit to the border.
Wow.
Great views.
