New Gear and Wild Foraging in the Forest - Training Hike in the Whitemud Creek Valley, Hike 1

- Lots of seeds and berries are ripening in the Whitemud Creek, and I had a new backpack to test out as we were planning a backcountry camping trip in early August. Unfortunately it got postponed due to the Jasper wildfire as it was too close to the area we had been planning to visit. Tag along as I see and try several berries in the forest.

Amazing nature Thanks for the coverage
Wow Donna 😊
Great to see your video
Nice explore
That was a fun adventure. Too bad you forgot the bug spray. Awesome to see all the plants and berries. Well done on the identification of all the plants. I love eating fresh berries while on the trail. Definitely a bonus snack! Looked like a great day out exploring. Take care.
Thanks so much! I miss all the berries as they are long gone now. Fall is definitely in the air now. Have a great day.
A lovely walk Donna. Many plants and berries to ID and enjoy. Sweet to see the wildlife along the way including the Goldeneye and Mallard families. Thanks for the views and wonderful narration. Best regards, Cathy
Thank you so much, Cathy! It was a great morning out despite the increasing heat, and the Mallard family was enjoyable to watch. Have a great day.
Looks like I missed quite the morning.
And quite the snacking!
If we know what to look for, nature has so much to offer us doesn't it Donna, and for me, it always tastes better 😊💞
It really is a great place to explore and learn about. I definitely agree the berries along the way are a wonderful experience. Have a great weekend, Mick!
Well, those foxtails steal the heart at the beginning of the video, but your smile fills the stage as the trek goes on. Wishing you many, many beautiful hikes with your new backpack. ( I was so sorry to learn of the Jasper fires. I visited Jasper about 15 years ago and fell in love with it.). Thank you for your beautiful post, dear Donna!
I am glad the fire that hit Jasper didn't destroy the whole town, and some houses survived for the residents to go back to. It will be startling to see how much vegetation around has burned when the park is open for visitors again. Thank you so much, Linda!
It's fun to forage in the forest and enjoy the sight of different plants during nature hike. It's also relaxing to hear the sounds of birds.
This is a nice place for a beautiful adventure. Flowers, rivers, trees and everything in there is great
What a very special hike. Such interesting plants and berries. And the trees! Love it. Thanks Donna for sharing.
Good morning Donna, Thanks for sharing this beautiful nature trail.
Now all of nature, especially flowers, is in a spectacular moment, it is a pleasure to see so much exuberance.
Have a nice day. Greetings
Oh Donna, such a beautiful place to hike. So many beautiful flowers 🌺
It's fun to do do some foraging in the forest...not only berries LOL.. I remember growing up picking wild mushrooms with my parents ;-) the thrill of finding them 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 well, I always liked to eat them too...and some berries along the way..
A lovely little hike, many things to see. Always fun to test out new kit. Nice video.
Thanks so much, Jay! It's fun seeing the changes in the forest through the seasons, and a good excuse to take my backpack for a walk.
Have a nice day Donna. Beautiful video. An interesting expedition. Beautiful nature. Thanks to. Greetings.🌞Pavel🦊
Thank you so much, Pavel! It's a great area with some hills and lots of natural beauty. Have a great day.

That was some really beautiful shots. Enjoyed watching it very much. Thanks ❤
Thank you for uploading this wonderful video of nature.
I always enjoy when you ID different plants along the trail. Beautiful to see the golden eyes and the ducklings. I bet that berry was so sour. Hope your upcoming hike goes well. Always smart to do a training hike beforehand.
Training hike in White Mud Creek Valley. I was interested in the beautiful nature.
Thank you so much!

Looks like a great area to find some peace and solace!! The life a mother duck sure isn't an easy one. We had quite a few on the river this year, and would disappear down river before I got close after hearing Otis trudging along.
It's a lovely area to wander through. I agree, it must be tough keeping all those ducklings in line! Have a great day!
New Pack. Bet you been itching to get out and give it a try. Oh, cuteness overload with the ducklings. Could watch them all day
ดอกไม้ป่าสวยมาก ชอบมากครับ ❤❤❤
Thank you!
Nice training hike Donna! Beautiful nature along the way! I’m interested to see that we have many of the same native plants that you saw- twin berries, Saskatoon, the wild gooseberries and wild currants too. I haven’t really studied the ranges of our plants, so I’m very happy to be learning these tidbits of info along the way. These plants would go along with our Pacific Coastal ecosystem I believe … ranges from N CA at least up to BC 😄👌 Fun to see the beavers are active, plus the birds and other critters. Have a great day, Jen 🌻🌻🌻
beautiful forest hike
Awesome
A great place to explore, I really like this place
Thank you.
Tempat yang bagus untuk di jelajahi ,aku sangat menyukai tempat ini 😍
Thank you
Hello 😃
Through each species that can be seen in the coming seasons, we can learn about their species names, learn about their way of life,
If you stand next to a plant that catches your eye and take your time to observe it,
Natural features become visible
So beautiful🌟I was so fascinated by the wonderful video🙏🇯🇵🤝🇨🇦
We are already friends 🙏❤️🔔
I’m looking forward to your continued success🙏☺️✨👍🎉💐❤
That is awesome. Very good to see this video, my dear. Nice.
Thank you very much
You're braver than I am eating wild berries! I woukd probably eat one of the ones that cause vomiting! Ducklings always swim away from me as well 😢 shame to hear about all the wasps. I wonder why so much has been introduced from Europe? It's a beautiful creek alright, especially bathed in sunlight. I didn't know crows steal ducklings 😟 thanks Donna, enjoyed watching with my sunday morning coffee 😁
Thanks so much, Matt! Glad you enjoyed this one. It's taken a few years of studying and identifying and reidentifying (I keep forgetting many over the long winter!) to get comfortable with the idea of trying some. It's a bit shocking how many plants got introduced from Europe and have become invasive over here - I think a lot of it was the settlers moving to North America and either inadvertently bringing seeds or intentionally bringing seeds with them. They also introduced birds like the Starling, House Sparrow and Rock pigeon to make things feel more like back home, too. If only people knew back then what we know now.
Hope you are well - are you still in Cuba?
Very nice place to explore. take care.
Thanks for visiting
