Thanks for being a part of the work in progress. I'm going to go live tomorrow and Thursday morning as well and then likely take a week off from the streams, assess my pain points, what flopped, what was fun, and take another series of swings. Its been fun for me though :)
I hope Philip never changes this. It is refreshing to see a open honest and vulnerable show. Like fresh start or newbie. Not too much editing, simplistic and the fly by the seat of your pants is very interesting. And using the later program to correct any errors or update any new information.

Also, thinking of Phil's mental & physical health I think he should do these live streams either twice or three times a week. Using the off days to adjust, relax, & refresh. So maybe a Monday, Wednesday, Friday live show or a Tuesday & Thursday live show. Where there is no effort or energy just go with the flow. If a mistake happens, it happens, correct it later with the afternoon show. Just talking and see where it goes.

It leads me to believe that there is a possibility that you are projecting your own frustrations with Ethan or personal experiences onto the situation. Phil is a grown man; he has the maturity to speak his mind without being influenced by "people wanting drama." He has the maturity to understand that while Ethan handled things poorly, he can also admit that he reacted poorly. I hope you can have the maturity to watch him grow as a person without immediately needing to try and justify the actions he's trying to change; to have the maturity to not let your limited perspective paint the whole picture for you. ❤

Like Phil, I can't remember years, but it was before O2L and SourceFed were a thing. I think I was about 10,11, maybe 12....I'm 26 now. I just remember that Phil changed my life trajectory and my brain neurons after fighting homophobia with a comment along the lines of, ' if it's not hurt you or anyone else, then mind your own business.' I stopped being weirded out by gay people after that. Made being Bi easier to accept too. 😂

We had a debate in my English class during the Bush/Kerry presidential run. I was the only liberal in the very small, rural south Texas town. I defended Kerry and was bullied relentlessly for it and called a “trouble maker” by the principal. I ended up leaving that school and graduating a year early.
In liberal areas diversity is encouraged. In the conservative areas, they single out the people with different ideas to encourage conformity.
Throwing in “hi Ethan” in the title got me to click 😂

Phil as someone who watches these AFTER the stream I prefer the chat, I like seeing both sides on conversations and knowing what you are responding to, also feels like I’m part of the community when I see it
I hope these show/live streams stick around, because this is what I listen when I'm working out now (weighting training too). Something about that buttery smooth voice panicking about what button to push really motivates me😊!
To be fair… ending a story with “what do you think” makes your audience feel engaged and also promotes engagement. Then coming back next episode and highlighting those comments is good practice. I know it’s all about “taking care of your finances is bad because we have bad finances” but props to you.
My step son was made to stand in a line and answer those horrible questions. It was meant to make the students mindful of one another's experiences, but I truly believe it is requiring kids to share personal information that they may not want to. And to people that they may not want knowing. One of the questions was has one of your parents ever been to jail and I think a couple other were things along the lines of who takes care of you yadayada. Deeply personal stuff.

Yes! My account was automatically swapped to a branded account years ago, and now I can't get gifted memberships. I cannot for the life of me understand why, or why RUclips won't make swapping the account type easy (at least for a one-time transfer).

Regardless of politics, debate class encourages students to explore a different perspective than their own gut reaction. Especially if you have to defend an opinion that's not their own. It slows the aggression in later life
I think forcing people to debate the side their given is much better than making them bring their own views into the debate.

I realise that you just want to be supportive of Philly, but I don't think he's the type to apologise just for the audience. I believe he apologised because he behaved in a way that he didn't like seeing in himself, and is trying to take accountability for it to better live up to his values; so this kind of encouragement would be detrimental to the changes that he's trying to make. ❤

My high school's whole philosophy was built around exploring ideologies, debating viewpoints, and having open-minded conversations. So we had these kind of debates every Wednesday at minimum. It's great for developing critical thinking skills so long as people aren't being singled out. Sometimes we got to choose a side and other times it'd be chosen for us.
Phil laughing is so cute, it’s humanizing. I rarely get to hear him laugh in his news shows, so he feels more like a newscaster and I forget he’s just a person very interested in the news lol
You were one of the first RUclipsrs I ever started to follow (back when all I was watching was Smosh and NigaHiga 😂) I basically stopped using RUclips regularly for the last decade+. Randomly enough Snapchat is what brought Philly D back into my life. Now my fiancé and I watch every time you upload! So glad you are still doing your thing and killin it!!

We did something similar in my 2012 senior government class. But instead of us picking it. It was a random assignment to a party, and we had to defend that party, then switch parties and do it again. It was an election year, and our teacher said he wanted us to be fully aware of each party's platform sent.Some majority of us were going to vote.

Phil, I have been watching for almost the full 16 years. (I remember your segment when you were tripping off cough medicine and thought everything was funny.) I feel like a proud friend! No matter what, you continue to grow! You grow as an emotional human being, with your political views, with your health, how you see yourself... That is a huge thing. Not all people do! It is much easier to sit in your shit than sort through it, take what is good, and wash away the rest. (Gross analogy no idea where it came from in my brain, forgive me.) I don't know if you will see this, but I hope you know that one of the reasons you DO have people who have watched you for most of their adult life, respecting you, and appreciating you, is because you are someone to look up to. If more people in the world followed your example and did research instead of being force-fed fox (or what ever) news, reflected on their past, adjusted their point of view, apologized for their mistakes etc., in other words evolved into their older selves, we wouldn't be facing a lot of these massive problems you touch on in your show. So much would be fixed by people just educating themselves and being okay with changing their views.

You should check out the political streamer Destiny. He’s a controversial figure so you’ll see plenty of people tell you otherwise, but he is genuinely one of the most transparent and thorough political commentators I have seen. He just argued with Elon Musk and a twitter space full of Trump Republicans to showcase how misinformed and/or intentionally misleading their rhetoric is. It was easily one of the most cathartic pieces of content I’ve seen related to Trump supporters.

I’m 37 and I never had those political side classes. That just sounds crazy to me. Almost inappropriate. Like imagine if you’re liberal in a hugely conservative town. You’re not gonna want to participate. Or if, like me, you just weren’t sure at the time about your political views or you didn’t care about politics. Would you be forced to answer? Those are personal questions. There’s a reason you don’t bring up politics at work or family gatherings. And they’re doing it with kids? Insane.

When you make politics, money, and religion topics you don't talk about for a civil reasons, you don't create civility you make it difficult to have difficult conversations with civility. You also empower the people that control those things by making them be the only people talking about them.

I was in 7th grade during 9/11 and watched it live in history class too. Alos side note, sense i went to a federally run school for the blind we also went into lockdown and couldn't leave our dorms for over a day.

I listened to the last live and thought, “telling kids to separate by their political views sounds awful!” Then I realized we did something similar at my school in Alaska. In my ‘07 US Government class, we had to put our heads down and raise our hands if we agreed to a common political topic. When they were done asking questions, someone that agreed would explain why they agreed, while someone who disagreed did the same. We did this at the beginning of the semester and repeated it at the end, except we didn’t put our heads down. The results seemed to change a lot between the two votes. Originally, our teacher showed us the results of the poll where there was 1 lone liberal kid, a couple moderate kids, and the majority was conservative. The second vote showed the majority was now moderate, only a couple were conservative and one had joined the liberal kid. We didn’t separate across the room, but the results were likely still similar and I actually don’t feel it was a bad experiment. 🤷🏻♀️
When I was in school (Same timeframe as you Phil) we didn't have this in general class, but we did have a debate class as an elective. I enjoyed it and it could very easily turn into a wild thing, especially considering this was in Alabama. Luckily it was Magnet school so typically it was with other well rounded people. But it was certainly an event lol

Catholic high school, in a religion class we had to divide the class and give our points on prolife vs prochoice. I was prochoice because of how extreme prolife is. Prolife was meant to mean anti contraception anti masturbation anti safe sex anti stem cells anti cloning anti DNR as well as anti abortion. I wanted to be in the middle because I don't agree with an all or nothing mentality. The prolife club held blood drives, and I am in favor of life preservation. We weren't allowed to choose the middle.

I don’t know how long I’ve been following you, but I feel like it’s almost the full 16 years, but I appreciate the effort of trying to evolve. The effort is very much appreciative, but I do enjoy coming home from work and putting on your video while I drink my shake and get ready for bed. And also if I can’t catch it at night, it’s something great to put on while I get ready in the morning. I can’t say how much I really appreciate being able to get some honest news thank you for everything and continue the streams.

High School? I was doing split debates as far back as 6th grade! The Gulf War was happening then and we had to debate on whatever the biggest event was that week. Also did debates on Earth Day and the pros and cons of recycling. As a 10 year old we were talking about things that were too heavy to comprehend.
