I live in Florida USA. I was walking down the street and a gentleman had a classic Mustang outside and I stopped to talk ab out. His car. He said he had a 2000 XK8 convertible for sale. I l I looked and fell in Love. It had been in his garage for eight years, no work on the engine or the body both were awful. I am in the process of bringing it up to what it looks like and was it was in 2000. It looks a lot like your car John. And I love your Channel

Hello John, I concur wholeheartedly with you comments regarding the positive reception the XK8 gets. Cool, understated, powerful, feline, refined, classy, and drop-dead gorgeous are just a few of the comments I've had.
My dear, recently departed dad absolutely loved the noise it makes.
Just 1 story to share: I was once with my brother-in-law at a garage where both his top-of-the-range, super hi-tech, shiny, newish, huge engined Audi & my XK8 were receiving some specialist attention, and when we arrived to collect our respective cars, the garage owner, complete with huge grin, was gushing about my XK8. "We have the privilege of working on some extremely nice cars here", he said, "But your copper back Jag has generated more interest than anything else we've had in here for some time."
Praise indeed, although my brother-in-law was a tad miffed that his mega bucks super Audi had taken a back seat to what is, lets face it, a pretty old-tech car by today's standards!
As we were leaving the garage, the owner shook my hand and said, "If you ever want to sell it, let me know."
He'll be waiting a long time......

Great video John. They carried the Spitfire wing theme over in other areas, the rear boot plinth for example is the same form but slightly narrower. One of the Top 3 must be 'understated cool'. There are many flashy cars in the world but very few have a reserved coolness to them, Jaguars and Aston Martins spring to mind...

Hi there John, I'm Kevin, a Silver with black leather XK8 owner living in Cape Town, South Africa. I agree with your selection of the top 10 so far and can't wait for the rest... I'm really enjoying your videos. When you mentioned the convertible top as one of the top 10 reasons, and seeing your boot with the cover lying in it, reminded me of something I was wondering about a while ago. Surely Jaguar, having put so much thought into creating this beauty, would allocate a safe place for the soft-top cover to be stored safely, and not have it lying around in the boot getting in the way for owners placing items like golf clubs on it or alternatively having to remove it and replace it on top of the golf clubs. Is it possible that the reason for the two level floor in the boot is meant to be for storage of the soft-top tourney cover? ...or is that not a good place to store it for some reason. Regards, Kevin

    • @ToTheGarage
      @ToTheGarage  4 года назад

      Interesting thought Kevin
Im not aware that they ever intended that to be the case but Interested to investigate further. It is in a tonneau bag. (I take it your is too? I have thought about attatching it to the vertical panel at the back of the boot myself.
I will take another look at this.
      Good thinking Kevin.

@@ToTheGarage John, mine unfortunately doesn't have a bag. I have a non-slip boot cloth over the spare wheel and the tonneau cover is on top of that. Im just a bit concerned about the spare wheel 'L' bolt which sticks up a bit, damaging it, but it fits in perfectly. Regards, Kevin Taylor

Only a Brit could take a car as exciting as the XK8/XKR and make a video so long & boring that it causes one to lose interest in a fabulous icon! I had to skip over much of the "ride" and "community" experience in order to muddle through to what I thought would be the finale of the top 3 reasons. This level of detail should have been reserved only for the most dedicated enthusiasts so highly interested in the technical and club experience. You fooled me once by running over this into a 2-part series. I don't think it's a habit of most viewers on RUclips to have to read below the video to understand the nature of the video deviates so far from the title. It is quite disingenuous to make this a 3-part series. It appears that it was a crass effort on your part to monetize your video with the outrageous amounts of inserted ads! I won't bother to see the final - you've lost your objectivity and credibility with me.

Hi Lloyd. Sorry you did not enjoy it. There is no intent to fool anyone. There is no Click bait. The thumb nail clearly says Part 2 and gives the length of the video.
And yes it is for enthusiasts.
I do make money from the video's but the amount is almost inconsequential and genuinely would not influence what I put out on the channel which is my Hobby.
Its in 3 parts because otherwise it would be an hour and a half long and few can find that much time for a you tube session
Hope you find some other channels more to your taste.
Really glad you like all of us are a fan of the XK8 XKR though.

Lloyd Reid your comment is most unfair. This channel has thousands of enthusiasts that appreciate John’s attention to detail and articulate nature. It takes years of accumulated knowledge to be this good and then have the confidence to present it all. The choices described are well explained and justified. You misunderstood the intention of this series of vids so the fault was yours and there was no need to be disrespectful of his efforts.
