the other town was Párkány - Štúrovo. Slovakia forcibly gave Slovak names to ethnic Hungarian settlements throughout the Felvidék, that even today, has fully Hungarian towns and a couple of smaller cities, as well. the mutual history of the two nations is quite complicated and troubled. this was one of the reasons why ive decided to explore it further by living there. its nice to have come across someone, who is so interested in different cultures and frankly, humbling, that youve chosen our country. may you experience as much as you can of the beautiful, but heavy Hungarian heritage, past and present, causing us to be one of the most peculiar and resourceful people in the world
Changing names is a mean to create political legitimacy for ruling over a set of territories/people. This happened lots and lots during the creation of the nation states of the post Habsburg empire
hey im happy that you are interested about my home area! btw the otther side is indeed slovakia, however many people speak both hungarian and slovak. Im also from slovakia and my native language is hungarian :)
Hello! Just saw your video and decided to watch it to see the content and found it so interesting. You really did have a nice weekend by exploring Esztergom and crossing the border by walking. The Basilica is so magnificent! I love the interior of it, so breathtaking. 😍👍- trip koto
Miss Amy! Have fun on your travels! Be aware of some railway stadions are vandalized, ticket machines are broken. Really enjoying seeing you having fun traveling at Hungary.
Hi Amy-san! I just found your channel today, its really interesting to see that you enjoy Hungary as much as I enjoyed being in Japan! I hope you will share more of your exciting adventures with us here. 😊
I am in Esztergom kinda frequently but was nice to see how you explore it. 😊 This boat trip of Esztergom-Budapest I never tried to be honest, but seeing it in your video made me think I should make it too some day.
Happy to hear that! The green fields viewed from the train were amazing, but the view of Visegrád from the speed and vibrations of the boat was absolutely breathtaking.
素晴らしいビデオAmyさん。🙂 エステルゴムはきれいな!I also like the fact that listening to your videos starts to bring back my Japanese slowly 🙂 I also recommend デブレツェン to visit sometimes 🙂
Hi! If you're interested in the suburbs and trains you should try to riding by a suburban rail aka helyiérdekű vasút aka HÉV. I recomand the Szentendre and the Gödöllő line. In Szentendre worth to visit the "Skanzen" and the center of the town, and in Gödöllő the Grassalkovich Castle.
As American I was married to a hungarian girl for a number of years..sadly we divorced, we had a home in Zebegeny we used to visit Esztergom many times. I fell in love with Hungary and the people...I plan on going back to visit...
I like when you were crossing the bridge from Hungary to Hungary and believed that on the other side people speak an other language. On the other side also hungarians live and speak hungarian, thanks to the collective west, "ex"-coloniser countries which artificially cut countries into pieces without taking any consideration about ethnicities. (And, they do it in the name of democracy and human right... Hippocratic!!)
@@amyfromjapan002 i live next to Lake Balaton, I would love to invite you a talk but unfortunately my english is not very well haha, I am very interested in Japan, i started to learning the language too, good luck, I hope you will like lake Balaton
Greetings from Hungary 🥰✌️🇭🇺

I'm happy you enjoyed your time in Esztergom!
I made a bicycle trip in this area a couple of years ago. This video brings back beautiful memories.

Thank you for watching my videos!! It's truly fascinating to have so many new discoveries and experiences while being abroad.
T the last yeaar of elementary scool, I went there with my class, and we sang in the basilica, because my school was a conservatory too.
Nice video :) I was there in March and I'm about to go there again in August. It seems hot over there
The Esztergom basilica is quite large, but only its height is great. The largest basilica in Hungary is in Eger

素晴らしい旅ですね。橋を渡ればスロベキアというエステルゴムから船でブダペストへ戻る旅はヨーロッパならではです。
向こうの人にとっては当たり前のことが特別に感じる場面がたくさんあります😊
An other Lazy day, And we Have a Nice Video.. My life is better now! ✌️😋

Thank you for your recommendations! Taking suburbs makes me excited:D I'll go there soon!

Will you also visit Lake Balaton?
Yes! I asked my Hungarian friend to take me there because everyone suggests me:D
