The Ghostbusters battle an army of ghosts, using Holtzman's (Kate McKinnon) custom made weapons.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Two paranormal researchers (Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy) join forces with a nuclear engineer (Kate McKinnon) and a subway attendant (Leslie Jones) to fight off a slew of ghosts that have invaded New York City. Eventually, they come face-to-face with an evil entity who can control human beings. Chris Hemsworth co-stars as the ladies' hunky receptionist. Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) directed this reboot of the 1980s franchise; Ivan Reitman, director of both the original film and Ghostbusters II, produced.

In the Ghostbusters comic books, this version of the Ghostbusters got a chance to interact with the 'Classic' team. The big crossover itself featured teams from all kinds of cartoons and video games but Holtzmann's personality played pretty well off the original team. Her talking tech with Egon led to a pretty hilarious moment in the end. Venkman also kept joking that he had no idea what she must have been on but it was good for their line of work. XD

Honestly, I don't hate this movie.
It's a fun watch. Though I'll admit that it's certainly a far cry from the original series. Now that's not to say that it needs to be, but it's definitely a vast shift in tone when put into comparison between the previous installments.
1:53 - 2:27 was honestly my favorite part of the movie. Give Kate McKinnon her own movie or even just a short. I'd watch it.

Well, it's not funny, it doesn't make a lot of sense, and it portrays men as either immature or stupid.
Not to be rude but I really think you had to have lived under a rock to not know that this movie had a bad reputation, it was very critically-panned, it's been completely made non-canon, and has had countless video essays about why it's a bad movie in general and also a terrible Ghostbusters movie.

I think the next Ghostbusters movie should be truly extraordinary now that Ivan Reitman son continues his father's Legacy and of course continues to honor the legacy of Harold Ramis. My guess is that the next villain should be an interdimensional ghost perhaps something along the lines of Multiverse. An ancient multiversal entity. Somebody who is beyond Gozer the gozerian somebody whose Beyond Vigo the Carpathian somebody who's completely Beyond Rowan and somebody who is far beyond Evo shandor the architect

The director has even admitted on camera that he basically let the actors take over the film. Which is something a director should never do. This movie was a disaster. No wonder it flopped.

As a Ghostbusters fan since 84 when I was six,I have to say even though this movie bombed I actually did find it enjoyable it wasn't the third movie we wanted but I was grateful for it, sure we finally got the fan service we always dreamt of having with Afterlife but for the time Ghostbusters 2016 was better than nothing.

To be fair, this movie had some cool technology aside from the traditional proton pack. It was cool seeing these new various weapons used to fight the ghosts.

Yeah I mean their weapons were cool but this movie leaves so many questions unanswered. Are the ghosts corporeal or ethereal? Why do they need a trap for one but not the others, then later in the movie destroy the same ghost without using a trap? The movie shoots itself constantly in the foot and it breaks the whole thing for me. That and it just wasn't funny enough. Not to mention the whole movie was just a framework for feminist nonsense. That is why the story and writing is barely holding together if even.

The reason why people hate the remake is because it doesn't have the same charm as the original, the cast of the original is what makes Ghostbusters so enjoyable. I have to say, the actresses in the remake did a good job but it feels like the one of them were trying to impersonate Bill Murray and Harold Ramis. Which is what I don't like, imagine Will Smith impersonating Robbin Williams in the new Aladdin, it just feels wrong if an actor tries to copy someone else because it won't have that same charm.

I didn’t really expect this movie to be all that good. I grew up watching the original Ghostbusters, but throughout the movie, all the easter eggs that hinted parts of the past movies really is what made it great. I do admit, while it isn’t the original Ghostbusters, it was a great movie.

Let’s be honest, the trailer ruined this movie before it even got a chance. I watched it, with absolutely no expectations, and surprisingly, it’s not a bad movie. It’s actually pretty good. It does not copy the original movie script, like the trailer presents. It deserves a chance as its own movie. A solid 4/5 from me!

I couldn’t be happier to know that Sony is literally saying this movie is not canon by releasing the final third movie this November
While I enjoy parts of this film and some of the visuals.. it was 100% the wrong direction for the franchise. If instead they set the plot as expanding the in-universe Ghostbusters exterminators as a franchise and these women starting their own branch, I think the film would have been way more forgiving. But the way the proton weapons work in this and ghosts doing flips and everything literally doesn't make any sense. Some producer just wanted a wild spectacle and had no idea how to do it. Very much looking forward to Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
