This is probably the best practical tutorial I've ever seen. Complementing it with theoretical knowledge and clear reports in APA format is the best way to study, I think. Thanks for posting.
+Andrea C. Agreed, this is definitely a huge help for my stats class. Kicking my tail so far! I needed a "personal" walk through with interpretational details. That's where I get lost, understanding what happens when certain tests are significant, etc...
+Vic Rockhill I am so glad to hear this tutorial was helpful! Stats is like learning a new language and can be difficult at first. It does get easier as you learn the basics and become familiar with the terms.
This helped me. Thank you! Not sure why most people are complaining. Got to know the basics before tackling this level; I am sure that is why most of you are getting confused.
SOOO appreciate this! Everything I've found has been sooo lengthy and confusing, and obviously made for people who already understand Stats. This was helpful for people who are brand new to stats. A little more explanation for interpretation would be helpful. For t-tests, there were certain criteria for accepting or rejecting the Null, which was the goal of running the test. Its not that clear for ANOVAs. Also, would appreciate something like THIS for 2 way ANOVAS, MANOVAS, ANCOVAS, Repeated Measures ANOVAS.....I see you have a 12 part series, but wasnt sure if you had anything like this...short and sweet, for beginners who would get overwhelmed by a 12 part series. Thank you again!!
Thank you so much for this review! I got my Masters a few years ago (research psych) but didn't start tutoring until recently so I needed this refresher. Great, it's clear and simple, I might refer my students to it as well.
Thank you for this walkthrough! Do you have any tutorial explaining how to calculate prevalence and its 95% confidence intervals by using SPSS? For comparison between groups (eg, male vs. female) which statistical test can I use to identify the statistical difference between prevalences?
This was really helpful as I have not had this type of training in my program. I did however run into an issue. While comparing my ANOVA and multiple comparisons tables I saw that I had significant differences on the ANOVA but no p
Very helpfull, a million thanks! I have only one doubt: when you are introducing data, I see in the second column the variable Achievement, but before, in the hypotesis and then when you establish de Independent variable (SES) and the Dependent (Satisfaction), I don't see it... Is Achievement a co-variable o another independent variable???
I think some further explanation on the basics, like rejecting the null hypothesis, could really bring the tutorial full circle. Otherwise if someone doesnt have the greatest statistical background then it is a little bit confusing.
deathdodge Thank you for your compliment. The SPSS tutorials are designed with the assumption that you understand the theory behind the procedure. For more information about testing the null hypothesis and significance, you may find some of my other tutorials helpful: thedoctoraljourney.com (see online statistical guide).
If I have one dependent variable and more than one independent variable how i can do ANOVA as factor take one variable at a time. Should I repeat the analysis with same dependent variable by adding independent variable one by one
Hi, I have a question for you. I am working with the different cellulase enzymes produced by different bacterial strains. I performed the cellulase enzyme assays for each of the bacterial strains. Now I want to perform ANOVA with the different enzymes produced by these strains. How should I proceed..?
Anyone know what to do if this tutorial is followed but are unable to get a result? Mine keeps saying there are fewer than two groups for my dependent variable, but there are a total of 5, and said no statistics were computed
This is nut how I got taught to do a one way independent above. I was taught to use bonneferroni for post hoc unless the homogeneity of variance is violated and then use games Howell. I came to view your tutorial to see how I would find out if it is violated prior to carrying out the test but you have done the anova a different way. Can someone help?
Good day! I really need help with ANOVA. i need to check the effect of several moderators on several drivers. Using ANOVA i have to input one driver as a factor and the moderators all together in the dependent list???? Can i do it like that? And then repeat the test for each driver-factor...
hi dr, I have was testing some financial data using Kruskal Wallis H Test. The test result says its significant but I am getting H statistic/ Chi sque value very very large compared with the others studies in the same field. Did i do something wrong, m i on right track. plz suggest me ???
+Mohammed Mira I have a course on the two-ay ANOVA found at: thedoctoraljourney.com/store/ and there is more information on the one-way ANOVA at thedoctoraljourney.com/online-statistics-guide/ The free downloadable PDF provides an example ANOVA write up.
hi , i just wanna ask u my problem about my research . my title is comparison of dynamic and pnf stretching on speed and agility among football players . i use 25 participant to do dynamic stretching for 1 day n after the stretch they do speed and agility test , after 3 days , the same person do the pnf stretch n after that they do speed and agility test . so what analysis should i choose in the spss , pls help
The Instructor only directed that "click the correct way to report the assumption of homogeneous of variance test", but never showed how to. The lesson is good, but sadly that's is the only discount i see and it's a very logical aspect of the lesson especially for a beginner...
Appreciate your effort, but it's too technical. You could probably ease up on the way you explain. A normal explanation like how you would talk to a person casually, it would have made a huge difference. And also posing a question "why we need to do this?" would have been really helpful. Don't have to be too professional and explain like a computer. I am well equipped with basic statistics and I didn't understand how you even came up with the conclusion. You're very talented, just that you should prepare a video keeping in mind, the people who are not into the core of statistics. Thank You.
Archid Vignesh Thank you for your compliment. I do enjoy making these tutorials. The SPSS tutorials are designed with the assumption that you understand the theory behind the procedure. Can you share data
This was so useful! I finally understood how ANOVA works.
Oh, English is not even my first language, that's how good this tutorial is :)
This helped me. Thank you! Not sure why most people are complaining. Got to know the basics before tackling this level; I am sure that is why most of you are getting confused.
Great video. Exam in 2 days and this provided the much needed help i was looking for. Keep up the good work Amanda.

Thank you for this tutorial! It was very clear and step by step. It helped me a lot!
This is my first time calculating the one way anova thanks for this vid. It would be a Great help for me to know how to calculate 🙃
Thanks it was very helpful, continue making more videos on data analysis
Great stuff. Where's the APA write up link?
you explained in the simple form thank you

Very easy to understand. Greatly appreciate!
I havve fallen in love with this voice
Great explanation for ANOVA!! Thanks.
so what exactly are we doing when the homogeneity assumption is violated?
Use nonpara kruskal wallis test
Thank you very much for this video. It help me a lot.

i have a question: if we do not have an independent variable like the Stanford prison experiment, how the results can affect the experiment?
Well explained Amanda.
+Balasubramanian Prithiviraj Thank you.
Do you have a free software of SPSS for me to use? Thank you for your response in advance.
How do you calculate the p value for the homogeneity of variances?
Great session.... thank you very much
hi dr,

Nice work i also retain process from this to seek him
If I don't have normal group sizes what do I do? also if my data doesn't meet levenes homogeneity of variance what do I do then? thanks
Hi Doctor,is there any method to identify outlier and how to deal with this outlier in Nested ANOVA
+Mohammed Alrubaee You can use a boxplot analysis to identify outliers.
What about when the independent variable is Likert scale?
So so helpful - thank you!!!
this video is quite helpful
How many columns do you have ?
when to use other post hoc tests? im so confused
Would be helpful to explain how to enter your own data in detail before going on with everything else.
Where is the APA result section? can't find it
Here is a list of all the tutorials: thedoctoraljourney.com/research-statistics-dissertation-videos/
Hi Doc.. Do u haf a video on ancova?
+Ong Tan Yenn Here is a list of what I have: thedoctoraljourney.com/online-statistics-guide/
+The Doctoral Journey Doc.. can u advise on what spss program to use for quasi pre and post intervention, with a control group? Thanks.
+The Doctoral Journey thanks so much for the kind reply. greatly appreciated.
What to do if data are not normally distributed?
is this data set available?

Better resolution would have made this a much better video!
Is English your first language?
very weird but my new spss won't let me choose the nominal factor
Great Jobs........
This i great. Thanks
this is very confusing. You haven't described how to described how you've included the three different groups etc etc
