FILM DESCRIPTION:
From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, MEAN GIRLS. New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called "The Plastics," ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina's ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina's crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group's apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli'i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.

This mainly isn’t really supposed to be THAT funny, it’s supposed to be POWERFUL for Regina. It’s literally called WORLD BURN
This is cus the broadway version of this focuses more on Regina being a badass in world burn and this is what the remake of the broadway version did

renee rapp killed this, but the orchestration really did this number a disservice! the original version feels a lot fuller and more badass, the backing music here feels half baked and it's sad because renee deserves better than that

I personally didn't like this film, but I think Reneé did a fabulous job with what she was given to work with. If the film was written better it would have been an even better performance imo ❤

The school would have to care b/c it’s BulLyiNg but I agree students probably wouldn’t… physical copies weren’t needed nowadays. The entire school would see it within hours thanks to social media.

The part when everyone was fitted acting like animals it’s giving that fight that happened during lunch at my school 🤦🏽♀️
I personally think there is too much autotune in Renee’s voice. at 0:56, she sings “I will win the war” and on the word “I” it sounds wayyy too auto tuned. In general, I feel like they could’ve done less autotune. It just doesn’t sound good and Renee’s voice is already amazing without it.

What Happened Mean Girls 2024 Cast
Why’d they have to massacre World Burn like that😭
i get that this is a musical, but let’s be honest even with Renée’s more in-the-face intimidating version of RG, this scene failed to give off the same level of chaos Rachel’s RG made in the OG movie (further proving how far RG will go to maintain her status). This scene used to be one of the most powerful climaxes in the movie thanks to how chaotic it was. Now it’s reduced to a weak, music video-esque scene
there’s just no way ppl will stop comparing this musical to the OG Mean Girls and this being a musical isn’t even an excuse for the flop. What’s even more ironic is that this so-called musical is directed and written by the same person but somehow feels like she forgot what made the OG movie iconic and timeless in the first place???

Bro this is a remake of the broadway not the movie in 2004 its not supposed to be the exact same as the original bc its a broadway remake. And reneé played regina in broadway too in 2019 and she slayed this one too

Personally, this one is more chaotic with all the intensity of the song and the red lights also the OG somehow shows us two girls slapping eachother hands? Like not even fighting lol
I never got this far, it was too terrible right from the start. I see I made the right choice. I can't blame Tina Fey for collecting another check, I just hope no one ever sees this as their first version of the story. A perfect example of the neutering of this movie is replacing "I did not leave the South Side for this" with "I did not go to graduate school for this." A funny line replaced with a nonsensical one because Gen Z audiences are perceived as too ignorant and fragile to understand the difference between a joke involving socioeconomic status and one actually promoting racism or classism. This is particularly disappointing when you remember that Tina Fey is actually a master of these types of jokes, which were everywhere in 30 Rock.

She looks exactly as fat here as she is at the start, so what exactly is the issue? In the original the kalteen bar plot made sense because Regina was very skinny and Cady used her obsession with being skinnier still to get her to eat the bars, but here it looks like they wanted the character to be "body positive" so they purposefully hired an overweight actress, and she doesn't seem to have any issues with her body at the start of the movie, so why is it a problem now? Either keep Regina skinny or change the candy bar plot to something else.
