A millionaire businessman's brain is kept alive after a fatal accident, and communicates clues to a doctor on the trail of the killer. (similar to Donovan's brain) Hard-To-Find Public Domain Movie
with so many movies with "Brain" in title I thought I'd seen them all. I took a chance on this one and hadn't seen it and this is a fantastic film. Thanks for posting
The other one - "The Brain That Wouldn't Die" - was wrongly titled. It should have been - "The Brain That Would Not Die!!" Much better I think. Opinions? (There is just SOMETHING about living, disembodied brains that GETS to one.) The item above I am going to watch, having been swayed to it by all the positive opinions registered by my fellow commenters.
Yeh. That's what I thought to. I wonder if they're still about, and who actually painted them ? Also I wonder what they would have been like if the pic was in colour... DK - Australia
Thank you. This is an ideal late night movie. Now it is 1.30 am and I'm ready to dream about Anne Heywood. There is anothedr version of the same basic story called Donavan's Brain co-starring Nancy Davis, who was married to Ronald Reagan. The combination of sci-fi and film noir is potent, I would say. Look at Timeslip (1955) , aka The Atomic Man with Faith Domergue.
well i sat with a fresh pipe full but i forgot about it because there was so much to the movie, i even had to go back a couple of times to see if i got it correct even the last minute was great now i can smoke my pipe and have a cup of tea I LIVE IN THE GREAT STATE OF WASHINGTON always smiling always chirpn!
Wow! I figured this to be a cheesy, campy, B-grade sci-fi romp... Boy, was I wrong. It's really a nice, amateur-sleuth, noir-type whodunit. Well worth watching. Thank you for posting.
Oh goodies! Just when you think you have seen every disembodied brain movie out there. And a Brit si-fi to boot. Max Holt's assistant 3:20 also played missile expert Colonel Breen in 5 Million Years to Earth. (He was melted by the alien spaceship.)
Well this one isn't "The Giant Brain" or "The Brain That Wouldn't Die" so this is the one about a modestly-sized brain with a fairly-limited shelf life that I heard about,
great remake of "Donovan's Brain" soft-pedaling the mad scientist angle. cinematography is stylish, 3 brunettes are indistinguishable, good British cars, Cecil Parker, and a whodunnit tidiness that ultimately diminishes the intoxicating madness of the original. the titular Brain never quite comes alive. a bit too reasonable.
Yet another dud from Freddie Francis (1917-2007); DP (Director of Photography) extraordinaire (twice Oscar rewarded, shot 'The Elephant Man' , 'Dune' and 'Straight Story' for David Lynch), crappy director of bad horror movies. Which I have a knack for...;-)
Un Poco Loco great cinematographer but couldn't direct traffic in the Sahara. "Dracula Has Risen From The Grave" was the first bad one of the Hammer sequels
@@voiskumbeaver3285 This totally doesn't relate to anything here, but since you mentioned Hammer the movie Frankenstein Must be Destroyed came to mind. That movie is crazy. That Baron was a bigger dick than Dracula in all his movies combined.
Thanks. I haven't seen this film since the 1960's. Still an excellent story.
Thank U for putting T.V. and Movies and Music on the Phone !!!!
Well, this was certainly different! Kept me guessing right up to the end. And a bit of a cliffhanger at the end! Thanks for posting. 😊👏
A fine adaptation of a great book, performed by some top-notch actors. Thanks.
Excellent find in the days we are in. What a treat! Thank you!

I've got an old copy of TV Times from 1973 and this movie is down as being called 'Vengeance'..Took me ages to find it..
Thank you!I was trying to remember it's other title
I LOVE THIS MOVIE .... thank you ever so much for posting 😃 👍👍
Good flick. Thanks for sharing.
All those old time British actors eg Bryan Pringle, John Junkin, Patsy Rowlands all cameos. A surprisingly entertaining film
Fantastic old British police cars. Love how they have the bell on the front bumper.
British police got much more respect when they sported the bell on the end.

I agree throb9, and the acting is top notch!
I enjoyed very much, thank you!!!🙏👍
I was hoping Pinky would show up.
I'm sure the blackmailing undertaker was in Darby O'Gill and the Little People

Makes me think of the movie hoGarth was watching in the iron Giant cartoon
The son's artwork is actually not bad.

Daft in the daftest extremes, never seen anything like it in my life, all this when I was child of 7 in 1962, defied all understanding 🧠 .

Surprisingly a good mystery.

+throb9 i agree this was a cool watch
AMEN to that !
Nice to see M and Blofeld on the same side for a change . . . it really is a solid little thriller with a philosophical twist at the end. Thank you!

I'm still waiting for them to give my brain back to me. I'm still waiting for my paycheck as well. Oy, what a trip.
@William Wright You sound like Dr Forrester talking to TV's Frank, if you get my drift.
I just got my brain back. A brain-scan showed no activity, so now I'm back to abnormal.

Filmed earlier as "Donovan's Brain" in 1953 and "The Lady and the Monster" in 1944. :)
Nobody messes with "The Brain"! 👹
Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan !🧠
Another version a bit better in my opinion, was done in the early 50's called Donovan's Brain with Lew Ayers.
Well this one isn't "The Giant Brain" or "The Brain That Wouldn't Die" so this is the one about a modestly-sized brain with a fairly-limited shelf life that I heard about,

So this movie is DONOVAN's BRAIN, or THE BRAIN ????
this is the UK-W.German remake of Hollywood B movie "D's Brain." both based on great novel by Curt Siodmak.
An former Nazi who happens to be an Mad Scientist in the film ? The Brain lives!
Science and Pseudo, Playing with the human brain or mind, is nothing more than what black magicians did without technology
PS : ARE YOU SURE THIS STORY, AND THIS FILM, ARE NOW IN THE PUBLIC DOMAINE , -) ????? THANX
Cocaine running around my brain!😄
