I went from a Haro carbon to a Chase aluminum and preferred the aluminum. Definitely has different flex characteristics
I’m thinking about going to the 2022 chase element! I was originally riding for Yess but things didn’t work out, the team kind of fell apart.
Glad you found something you like better! Each frame has a different feel, and each frame definitely has a different amount of flex. Flex isn’t always a bad thing though, as long as the back of the frame isn’t flexing (the chainstay/rear triangle as a whole).
Lookin good bud. Wishing you the best this season
Thanks Barry 👊
Hey drew love your new bike and can’t wait for 2022 season of bmx to start can’t wait to see more amazing videos by you stay Awesome
increíble🔥
Bike on fleek
Drew, I copied your exact brake system for my BMX. I love it. Thanks!!! BTW I used a Jagwire cable. Super smooth. NICE.
This new bikes id the best I have ever seen you ride Drew congratulations.
Thank you!
The bike looks sick
Hey drew it’s me Brayden, thanks for sighing my plate yesterday👍🏼
Of course!!
🔥
Always first 🥇
@@DrewPolkBMX only for you 😤
Those Meybo frames are so good! 👌🔥
They sure are! I just saw last week that we have the same exact frame haha!
I’m getting a new bike, and honesty I think I convinced on copying u and getting that frame seems worth it
Yay! We like Meybo as well. Is there a reason you run different tires on front and rear? Tioga Power Band and Tioga Power Block. We have Fastr X in front and Power Block on rear, but that’s cause we couldn’t find the Fastr X in 1.4” to fit on our Junior frame Meybo Holeshot.
Really nice looking bike. Hope to see you winning more races!! 👍👍
The Powerband only comes in a 1.85 or larger and it’s a smooth band in the middle. The Powerblock has a 1.75 so I use that and it has cuts in the middle so there’s more traction when accelerating.
I’d love to know what goes into the decision to change frames. BMX racers seem to do it almost yearly, whereas the MTB world I’m immersed in, racers don’t do it quite as often, or at all. Granted, suspension kinematics can change how an MTB can ride, whereas most BMX frames are essentially the same. Am I thinking correctly?
Well yes but in this case Drew changed teams. On his old team (Hyper) he was on a factory level, therefore he was riding a hyper frame. On his new team he decided to ride a meybo. It really depends on the rider and the tream.
mostly because factory teams supply their riders with a new bike/frame just about every offseason. not a common trend among all bmx riders for the most part.
Many times it’s because of the teams. On a factory team, you’re required to ride that frame. So I was required to ride a Hyper, but I really liked the Meybo and I thought it had better features and concepts than any other frame that I’ve seen. So this one was a choice since we aren’t required to ride a certain frame.
In other situations, companies make a new frame every year with new changes and designs. Then, they require their riders to ride the new bikes because that’s good advertising for their company (that’s what factory riders are supposed to do).
BMX frames all have similar geometries, but there are major differences so I would disagree that they are essentially the same. The materials used to make the frames vary, every angle varies, almost every frame is different. Each frame rides differently, but good riders will make almost anything work.
Thank you for your comment!
Isn't your back tire in backwards?
what type of crank is it and what size ultra ss rear hub?
She's a beauty Drew.
Made me want to get 1
Niiiiiice rig👌🏼👌🏼 how do u get the photo of it standing up
Hey drew, big fan! I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I’m 5’10 and run 175 mm cranks with 1.8 tire in front and 1.65 in back (Tiogas fastr X) should I be running a 44/16 with those size tires for fast gate starts? Or should I be switching something up? Right now I have 45-16 =\
45/16 is too big in my opinion. I would definitely do the 44/16.
just a question but isnt ur rear tyre direction the wrong way?
🤷♂️
When are you going pro Drew? That will be so cool to see you compete!
I think he said in one of his posts he’s going Pro in 2023
^that is correct. 2023 I’ll be going pro.
What's the tooth count on the chainring? I've recently gone up to a 46.1 (yes, .1) with a 16 in the back
I’m running 44 on 20
Would a smaller sprocket in the rear make it clear more ground ?
@@thehomiejuan1306 it totally would, im just too lazy to buy and change everything out 😭
What gear ratio is better than 2.2
For fast acceleration and quick take off
I run a 46. A 46/16 is very big for a 20 inch wheel, I’d recommend a 17 in the rear if that’s the case.
@@DrewPolkBMX You think smaller is better in the rear ? All I have to work with are two 18 and one 20
I’ll switch it back to 18 if it’ll be alil faster than the 20
I’ll keep my eyes open for anything smaller thanks
How tall are you? I'm 6" and wondering if a 22" TT is adequate for my next frame.
I’m 5’9”
@@DrewPolkBMX I've seen some of the hot laps you've put down so I know you have no issues with that TT length and getting the front end up. You ride a shorter stem ant taller bars?
53mm stem, not really short; about average. I have 8” bars as low as possible with the stem facing up; so pretty low actually. I changed the bar height after I made this video because I didn’t like it.
Do a video of the pro am in ca
I didn’t film enough to make a full video, but I have a few GoPro laps. I might make an edit of my entire trip and include some laps!
What is the overall weight for this bad boy?
I'd like to know too.
Can you make a San Diego bmx pro am vid I saw you were there
I don’t actually have enough footage to make a full video, but I might make an edit of my whole trip while I’m here!
Why does the LSG team not have a jersey? I checked the insta and it has Wiawis posts and Hyper posts.
Jerseys just come out yesterday. Check my Instagram @drewpolkbmx
@@DrewPolkBMX jersey looks fire
Everyone at my track thinks that I'm crazy because I run a 45/16 gearing with 165mm cranks and 451 wheels with 1 3/8 tires and I'm only 12 - Which makes my rollout a 58!! Lol! What's your gearing?
Lol my rollout is a 54 and I’m the same age! Just went expert also!
@@bmxdrew_ Sick!! I went to expert in April though?
@@bmxdrew_ I run a 52 but that’s huge
@@Polaris_rips what do you run in the back?
Yeah, kind of crazy haha. 58 is huge. 53.5-54.5 rollout is what I shoot for. I’d definitely recommend going a little lower. I’m not exactly sure what tires you have, but a 41, 42, or maybe a 43 would be much better.
Are you going to the Silver Doller Nationals
He is going to the one from the 7-10th of this month
Yes I am
Awesome
Is xxl?
It’s a Pro 22. It’s about a XXXL, but Meybo doesn’t use that for sizing.
@@DrewPolkBMX bro wtf? a xxxl? how tall are you? I use a Gw xl frame and I am at 1.80 and if I feel that it is a little small but when I see your frame the size is almost the same as mine unless the size varies by brand ... so that's why I don't know if I should buy another frame An xxl or xxxl which one do you recommend if I am 1.80?
I’m the same height as you. I put my bars a little farther back than most people so it gives me less room. I’d recommend riding a XXL or XXXL depending on your setup.
are u going to silver dollar natinol?
Yes I am
@@DrewPolkBMX I will be there too I will be class 11 novice if you can remember cheer for me! I would love to meet you as well my plate number is 347 I love you so much as a racer and I want to be like you!
im going also on friday
Your directional tire tread is backwards
I know
