Awesome comparison! I'm warming up a bit to this form factor but still can't get past the non-removable battery. The Nitecore in particular is really cool looking though
Have both the EDC27 and Arkfeld . Now i getting another Arkfeld pro. Well really depend. What you need. EDC27 more to defensive use. UI is great but nor for everyone. Prefer arkfeld simple funtion and laser + uv all in one best for inspection. Down side only to carry an extra charging port for heavy usage.
Very nice., I have used all three companies and I truly think that Olight is the best with Customer support... I use the ARKFIELD and do enjoy the laser which when you are checking your property is nice because folks don't know if it is attached to a pistol.. and the light is easy to attach on the bill of a hat if looking under the hood of your car. It carries so easy and not bulky
From the back of the cap on the side of your dome pointing to the front. Or if you have a wazoo cap there is a slit right in front of the forehead to carry such lights pointing foreword. Sometimes all you need is a little bit of imagination in life because no one will hold your hand your whole life.
Really wish the edc27 had a side switch to access some lower lumen options for some utility work. The tail switch needs a specific grip to utilize and is usually for defensive and tactical applications. Other than that, it’s a fantastic light. If you need a good all purpose light to go out on walks at night, it’s great. Turbo and strobe gives a good self defense option to its functionality.
This is great to see, man! It’s also nice seeing you get your hands on the more difficult flashlights to acquire! I could be mistaken, but I hardly had these flat/rectangular-form flashlights on my radar until fairly recently. I guess I’ve been out of the flashlight loop! Not going to lie… I use my phone flashlight quite a lot but do always have a Surefire P2ZX Fury Combatlight on me. I did recently invest in the rechargeable Surefire CR123 batteries with charger. Pricey, but I like having rechargeable! These lights are so nice for their cost and each one really does have its ideal user. I could be “old-school”, but I really dig lights that are full-power essentially all the way until the battery is about shot. I wonder if these lights that are full-power for around 30 seconds have that function every time they’re powered on or is it only once per charge that you get that full-power 30 seconds. Interesting! Great production, sir. Some of these run-times are impressive!
@@UrbanSurvivor Recently, I made a presentation on occupational health and safety in the profession of a car mechanic: -regulations, -hazards at work, -use of personal protective equipment, - rules of training for new employees etc.
Olight also makes this model with a UV light instead of the laser. Some may find that more useful for other tasks. Also the UV model is slightly more inexpensive. Being smaller, with more options gives the Olight the edge for me.
Streamlight Wedge for me. Far from ideal, but the best of the breed; currently. And, I would include the SureFire Stiletto, and Stiletto Pro models in this category. Have those two as well. Both are ridiculously slippery if there's even a bit of moisture on your hands. Ironically the Stiletto is a bit better with grip than the Pro version. The Nitecore is just too big overall. And, not a fan of the dual tailcap design where one tailcap is raised above the other one. Stopped being a fan of Olight when they switched to their magnetic tailcap system. I own automatic watches, wear them on my left wrist. My main light is always clipped to my left side pants pocket. Don't need my watches getting instantly magnitized on me.
I usually like Streamlights over Surefire because of the run times. But definitely would say the Stiletto (not the Pro) is the best because of the modes available. That 5 lumen mode is perfect for indoor use and won’t kill your night vision. The Stiletto Pro is just too expensive with bad runtimes compared to the normal model.
I just wish the Wedge had a third, lower setting. Then it would be perfect. The button on the Arkfeld is too hard to press with a flat thumb to me. You have to angle your thumb to press it properly.
Agreed! That would be really nice on the wedge! I always love moon modes for their long runtimes. Any edc light should be able to get you through an extended multiday blackout lol
None of these make my short-list for EDC flashlights. Non-replaceable batteries is a dealbreaker; each one is ultimately doomed to become a paperweight. That may not be for ten years (assuming all three use high-quality cells), but is certain nonetheless. They are also all somewhat large in the pocket, flat or not. I will accept at face value that all three are high quality flashlights, unlikely to fail even in "rough" use. Any of them might be a good choice for a purpose-chosen "work" flashlight, although even there only the Arkfeld stands out due to its laser pointer.
Yeah very fair criticism of built in batteries! You probably would get 300-500 cycles from a battery but it would fail eventually. Also not being able to swap in and out batteries is a pain if you drain a battery but still need to use the light! Hows that sofirn light holding up for you?
In the nitecore and the streamlight changing battery shouldn't be a big problem, not for any a bit tech savvy person. After battery failure of course. I don't mean swapping them regularly and on the go. And yes, such batteries are available, even though not so popular like normal cylindrical cells.
@@UrbanSurvivor It is an early "grabber" for jobs needing a flashlight. Otherwise, my primary EDC remains a Sofirn SC21 Pro. Despite the small battery, I've never run it out in use (I use it every day, sometimes more than once, but rarely for more than a few minutes). I also have a few spare 16340 cells, just in case.

Huge streamlight fan. Own almost all that they make. But I chose the olight over the wedge because for the money the wedge is not that bright. And it is too long. Olight is an ok company.
Had a few streamlights over the years but the wedge and siege lanterns are some of my favorites. Yeah olight is hit and miss. Lots of rediculous lights but defintely a few gems in each class.
Yeah thats a common and fair criticism of all the Olight lights. I tend to prefer lights with USB-C personally. However I also have a bunch of the olight cables so loosing one is not a concern for me personally lol but I could see it being an issue if you just have one or two Olights.

I think the major flaw of the EDC27 is its waterproof. Other than that, im buying it.
I have had the EDC27 now for 4 months and i am very happy with it. Along with my RovyVon Aurora mini light, is among my most worn. Fits anywhere.
I like Olight Arkfeld the most because it has a built-in green laser pointer. The most useful function, e.g. during virtual presentations.
Regards 👋
Thats a great use case! What line of work has you doing virtual presentations? For me its mostly a cat toy lol
