My first top handle saw was the 2511. It’s light and awesome, but I got in over my head with it on a big maple removal, so I ran out and picked up a 355. It made a huge difference and I love both of these saws.

Also I got to be a groundie for the first time on Saturday and it was awesome! Honestly I don't know why my guys on the ground have so many problems. I asked the climber if I jostled him and he said I was very smooth. I had to ask because I wasn't looking at him when the limbs were coming down I was more focused on where the limb was traveling. My biggest concerns were not to dynamically load the line and not screwing the climber over throwing him around. I would just watch the line placement and where the climber was making his cut. That would tell me where the limb was going to go and I would adjust from there where I wanted it to land. I found it really easy to do, but I had to ask the climber if I caused him any problems and he said "No I was smooth" and he liked the fact that I had the line back to him very quickly. It was nice to get the perspective from the ground. I had a great time.

3/8 narrow kerf is a good compromise for cutting faster than 3/8 low profile, and stronger than 1/4 chain. Those Panther bars look great on the Echo's.
I'd like to see the difference between 1/4 pitch and better 3/8lp chain than what comes on it. Like the narrow kerf 90px oregon bar and chain setup over what comes on it.
That new 355T performs well in all aspects. For years I used 1/4 pitch with top handle saws, not so grabbing when the cut is in front of your upper torso and face. Looks good, cuts nice!
Personally, I find that the 16” bar is great and the 355 can handle it, but the balance is slightly off compared to the standard 14” bar. Great saw though, good choice with half the expense.

I've been trying to find a Echo CS2511P and put a 1/4 inch Panther bar/chain on it. The "P" version is the rear handled CS2511T. Can't find as it is new in the United States.
This is their BIGGEST and most-powerful climbsaw(top-handle), I think you're referring totheir 2511T which august also uses, but that's a 25cc climbsaw (about the smallest they make them), designed to still be strong while being super-small & super-light (barely >5lbs!), as said by others though the 355t is a 'king saw', it may only cost $350 new but, out-of-box, will outperform the 201t & the 540xp (a kid has a very good, precise vid on youtube showing all 3 competing, w/ the same bar&chain to keep things consistent, the 355t is simply an amazing saw if it were $500 or 575 nobody would EVER think twice about its pricing, yet somehow it exists (at 350!) and people still buy 201t's!!! After this video, I will purchase the conversion kits and the muffler mods, good lord what a time and effort saving investment.
I got a quick question since I have the same saw, what's your procedure for starting the saw when it's cold? choking it helps but for me it never starts choked, I hear it almost start and then I remove the choke and pull it until it finally starts but it takes more pulls than I would expect from a fairly new saw. Thanks in advance!
Impressive speed, Funny I never knew that the echo and the shindawa were related. I’m thinking about a conversion, especially like the 20 inch bar in the video you had a couple months ago. Providing a real practical solution for chunk down work do you need that length and width that smoother chain could be a nice alternative to hauling up an 11lb + chainsaw, at least some of the time
I never really got into using the bigger top handle saws . I don't like or need the extra weight of them using one handed . I like my good old echo cs 341 it's just under 34 ccs and in the middle of size for top handle saws and is around 10 pounds cuts just great no mods just a 12 inch bar . I got a echo cs 271 t within the last year and its alot smaller at around 27ccs and lighter by like 2 or 3 pounds and it's what I usually use when I'm not cutting down big trees but it's obviously easier to use one handed than the 341 . Other than using non safety chain they always cut good enough for me and the tree company I used to work for before I worked for myself
thanks for sharing your knowledge...I rather enjoy your humour too. As for your dad finding his tools at your shop...sounds waaaaay too familiar. When I am looking for something and can't find it, I check with my two sons...or as I like to say my two wharehouses. Do the 2511 not come 1/4 pitch?
They don’t sadly. They should. Way better
How do I get different styles of the “Ramborista” hat?
give Monkey beaver a call, we have a few other colours
Hey August. Good day my brother. Any chance of those muffler covers ever being for sale on the website?
Do you have the ph# to that saw shop that did your muffler, Thanks Bob
I can’t really give that out. He’s supposedly retired.
Looks nice, cuts good! You should adjust the idle ASAP! I’m trying to get mine on your level. Fun project!
So what’s your opinion on the 2511t vs 355t for in tree work?
2511 is my fav
can we get a video on sharpening 1/4 pitch? i feel like theres gotta be some hacks out there.
Do you ever Run Husky Chain saw
Ya
Love that Ranchero North West cowboy
I loan out tools and then forget that I did. lol (that's why I engrave most of them with my name.)
Cheers
Also have has a CS355T for many many years, run stock 12" bar. does fine around the ranch & woods. Might get a CS2511 T and Convert to a Panther. that would be for awesome for climbing .
Your replacing the clutch drum not the entire clutch. And i like this saw my boss bought one bc out 201tc was getting a new top handle but i got to ise it and for the price i was nice not as much power as the 201 but for the price it was well worth it and there light
Echo takes a long time to break in. As it breaks in re-tune it andbit should get a lot stronger.
Where can I get this kit?
Monkeybeaver.con
Will the 2511 kit fit in the 355 as well? I didn't see anything for it specifically
Do you have a video of how you adjust the idle on that thing? LOL :D
I wanna do this same conversion to my battery makita
Call the number on my website. I forget which one it is but One of our 1/4 pitch bars mates up to that.
I've got three of those bad boy 355t top handles. I run 3/8 Lo Pro 14 inch in my bucket truck. All Muffler modded. 👍 👍 👍
are you pitching po-tay-toe cheeyups?
Not on purpose.
Can you do a video of you adjusting that chainsaw
Yup. Converting my 355t asap
Do you mill up all your logs or sell them?
What we’ve got here is freedom and fun
You should adjust the idle. Buckin would have already
Hope you got a bearing in the 1/4" sprocket, didn't have one when you showed us. Maybe it was still on the crank. Edit: Nevermind, I should watch the whole video before commenting!
