Love the skid moving back tensioning the rigging just perfectly- showing that the operator “feels” what is about to happen….as he is a climber himself of course….

18:32 Perfect example for how to rope negative rigging. Isn't on the brakes off the bat, and waits till the log has rolled to 45 degree ish downward angle, then gradually applies the brakes. Absolutely beautiful. If my understanding of the rope manipulation is off, please correct me. As a climber I do appreciate the occasional ride or 2, however I generally like things to go as smooth as possible, and this seems like a perfect clip to illustrate how to do it.

Gotta love how builders put houses right next to trees that would grow to be huge. Endless work that just keeps growing. If the trees aren't cut down before they become a problem, they just become a bigger and more expensive problem
Just saw Treeson using the 540i and was wondering about it since most of the tree people seem to say battery saws just aren't ready yet. Glad to hear your thoughts on it and see the battery umbilical
All I can say is that whatever this man is getting paid, he's worth EVERY penny! WHAT A PROFESSIONAL!!! Think of what that Tree has "seen" since it was a sapling, lived a full life, and now going to be a 'tree house'....some trees just give EVERYTHING to man, and then they give some more...What a wonderful lifeform they can be if you take a moment to consider, and really appreciate the wonders of this earth:)
Great demo! I'm guessing that this is just the beginning of the battery revolution, and much lighter saws will be around the corner. The local dealer tells me these are back ordered until August. The numbers show it is still more heavy and more bulky than the echo 2511T, because you need to add the weight of the battery you are using to the published weight for the saw alone. There's also the sticker shock of how much it costs; almost double a normal saw when you add charger and batteries.
It looks like that would be the almost perfect setup if they could create an umbilical that is incorporated in the lanyard so you don’t have a second strap/cable to deal with.
My big issue with electric is that they do not cope with rain (Two zapped huskys for me and not accepted under warranty). I still use one, but until they sort this out, you better keep a loud saw in the truck.

Even though the title describes the scenario, a story or man, method, machine vs. the fate and future of a trouble tree drama naturally unfolds. Informative, calculatedly intense (due to the inherent nature of the occupation) and seamlessly entertaining.

Now I did have a fluff type message that was sympathetic to the comment abuse you suffer on occasion from the safety ninnies, the armchair experts and just outright demons. I understand people want to help or be of service, but it's a shame that some people can be so clueless or emotional, with thoughtless reactionary dribble.
I recently had a large maple in a confined space removed on my property. The entire process was a horror. I wish the company I hired had shown half the thought, care, respect, professionalism, and skill you and your crew show here on a regular basis. You and your company are exceptional.

Just cause the state makes it easy to get a business license don't make them good I've been climbing for over 20 years and I can say not a lot of people who say they can do a good job can't or they watch people do this and think it's easy there's nothing to it and start a business
@@karlwittig5966 Agreed, but I hired one of the biggest companies in Indianapolis, and paid a premium price for what should have been a professional job. It was not, and I was treated poorly and am extremely disappointed. I guess watching August and crew in action has spoiled me into thinking all big outfits will do it like his.
I used to climb when I was young in the cold Michigan weather, I didn't last long, they don't make boots and gloves big enough or good enough for me, I hated it ..18yrs old, and now ..11 years ago I moved to Florida and started a tree business, 55 years old ..I don't remember the climbing bug ever bitting me, but it did, love being in the trees now, but I got all my equipment now, fully equipped bucket trucks, dump trailers, bobcat mini skid , kubota tractor , and it dont get so cold that I'm scared my fingers won't latch back to the tree after I send it ..the trees are shorter in florida , retired climbers paradise I call it ...

I am all about trying new things... love some old stuff like my 200T and think battery stuff is great in certain places. Love that it keeps neighbors happy in the morning and people are not freeked out your doing something wrong.. which we see
Ha, finally. Not sure if you were one of the many who I suggested this under the screen name New2Trees (many posts on the buzzboard) to about 4-5 yrs ago. If you have some insider contacts at Husky I have another freebie. Take the battery pack and add a voltage multiplier and phase converter ( I assume they use an A/C brushless motor) then they will be able to run much smaller wires between saw and pack. This would enable the use of a magnetic connector between saw and pack ( a simple comparator circuit like a CGI would trip power a thou of a second if the wire were cut) which would be another time saver.
Watching this video my thoughts as follows: 1) You sure have to trust your equipment especially what's holding you up the tree!! 2) One small factory defect in that equipment can end your life instantly!! 3) Thanks for showing idiots like me how the professionals handle the job! Great team & great video footage!

Sorry, I’m binging August today:). I have serial number 4 of the GRCS. There are ways to do negative rigging and remove all stretch from the rope for those “close to the roof moments”. Great work, plenty of beef in the trunk to load the speed line.

Safford equipment is where i got mine. Free shipping and i got a free hat and shirt. I love the saw. Using it instead of my t435. Would luv this mod tho to make it super light.
My first electric chainsaw days were with the 12 volt lead acid anchor batteries. Mostly all with a number 10 and number 8 gage home made extension cords. I did try a portable smaller battery to wear but the motor drainages was to great for the smaller lead acid battery. I do have a beautiful 110 volt big electric antique chainsaw wit a big bold brass name plate and large thumb operated chain oil pump that I hope I can find a collector to own one day. Because of my experience with the 12 volt chainsaw as a kid I became a great user of 110 volt chainsaws when I could find a good one. The electric extension cord never bothered me.
Kit looks great - really enjoyed that ! it would be nice to have a flat battery that could clip to the suspenders on your back maybe great idea the mod you did . Jeff saved the day !! Soooo Close

Makes me smile to see a Husqie in your hand. My Grandfather was a Norwegian Immigrant and aside from all the metal working that old blacksmith taught me he was adamant that treeworking saws come from Husqvarna. Now you just need to put a Panther bar on it!
Man! So many times it looks like your super close to cutting through your lanyards and lines. I’m sure its the camera angle, but man I’m nail biting at times 😂. Oh, and that’s a badass saw!!
Ego Power also offer nice electric chainsaws. 16 and 18". If you don't want your battery in the chainsaw, you can get a backpack so you carry the batteries on your back and connect it to the chain saw.
Just bought it, the DCS 2500T , with 1.4/1.1 mm chain, carving. I wish they had a bar with ball bearing at the front of the bar. I'm told there is only the carving bar at that chain. It stalls a bit with the carving-shouldn't press it too hard. Still, I think it is an excellent arborist saw.
The battery powered stuff is definitely getting good nowadays. It’s just that it feels like a sin or like I’m some sort of a traitor when I use them. 👊
@@selfemployed1338 more so when strip mined the minerals to put together and then the many factories to refine the components lol love the electric are emissions free arguments that pop up. As long as they keep making batteries for the older models should last a long time.
@@selfemployed1338 who is they? Regardless, I couldn’t care less about emissions regarding something like this. A small 30-40cc chainsaw isn’t a drop of dew in the ocean of daily emissions. I consider the characteristics that effect me directly and immediately much more important. Things like power, weight, run time, ease of use, effort involved to start, noise output and safety. Differences that I can feel in my back or shoulders after a full day of using it. The smog level in L.A.? That’s not going to matter to me if I die from heat exhaustion trying to pull start a cranky, flimsy 40 pound widow maker while up in a tree. Sure emissions on the chipper truck are worth thinking about and mitigating but emissions from a climbing saw? I can’t even pretend that matters. I’d think if you’re seriously worried about modern battery packs “emanating” something harmful during normal use, old corded power tools may be your only option because compared to the two strokes ring-a-ding ding spitting and dripping half burnt premix oil everywhere, constantly puffing out blue smoke with it’s 300+ degree breath, well compared to that ordeal, battery powered tools are no emissions when in use compared to that.
@@jaxturner7288 I'm more worried about something that might cause cancer. We know breathing gas exhaust is not good, but as I said, something comes from the batteries, you can smell the difference, is it more harmful or less? They ( the so called experts ) are wrong about climate change, co2 carbon emissions don't affect the weather, climate change is a political issue, the sun controls the climate, not carbon emissions.
Get over the guilt. I would have used this in a heartbeat, and it would have nothing to do with emissions as some are talking about. No hot exhaust in your face, no gasoline to mess with, no more EVER having to start it. No flooding the carb, fouling the plug, being forced to start it in difficult positions, or leaving it running between cuts. One more thing is it has 100% torque from the start. You know how if your chain is resting on the wood when you hit the throttle and it won't move? Not enough torque. That's no longer an issue with an electric saw because they have MUCH more torque from the start. Next time you put an electric saw in your hands, try doing that and compare with a gas saw. Makes me want to start climbing again.
Great work I have wondered why the manufacturers haven’t adapted a remote battery type system to reduce saw size and weight and make it more versatile and a more likely to be chosen over a gas operated saw, not to mention if designed correctly power cord could double as a lanyard
Pellenc ( a French company) did it several years ago. Their umbilical power system includes a top handled chainsaw amongst a range of other tools. It was the only way to get the battery power back then - carry the batteries separately.
that may look like a easy tree, but thats a whole day affair, or close too it. I could see the angle that your mini' skid was on there.. Those little echo 2511t's are great little saws.Got 2-3x of them on our trucks.. I been usem for a year plus now.. Yea there not the mst powerful, biggest fuel tanks, but the weight and performance, AND reliability of'm is pretty darn good.. like the battery pack idea on the harness.. That t540i ripss!! everythin is gonna be goin electric oneday, but a woodchipper,,lol.. still gonna hae noise from them, chompin away..

My 8 week old is pretty happy with the sound of the battery saw, so I can actually watch a full video well holding him. It is a win by me!

I've worked with plenty of tree surgeons in my day and you are the only one I have ever seen take those limbs down gently. I think it is a good habit.

I used to climb when I was young in the cold Michigan weather, I didn't last long, they don't make boots and gloves big enough or good enough for me, I hated it ..18yrs old, and now ..11 years ago I moved to Florida and started a tree business, 55 years old ..I don't remember the climbing bug ever bitting me, but it did, love being in the trees now, but I got all my equipment now, fully equipped bucket trucks, dump trailers, bobcat mini skid , kubota tractor , and it dont get so cold that I'm scared my fingers won't latch back to the tree after I send it ..the trees are shorter in florida , retired climbers paradise I call it ...

I am all about trying new things... love some old stuff like my 200T and think battery stuff is great in certain places. Love that it keeps neighbors happy in the morning and people are not freeked out your doing something wrong.. which we see

Not sure if you were one of the many who I suggested this under the screen name New2Trees (many posts on the buzzboard) to about 4-5 yrs ago. If you have some insider contacts at Husky I have another freebie. Take the battery pack and add a voltage multiplier and phase converter ( I assume they use an A/C brushless motor) then they will be able to run much smaller wires between saw and pack. This would enable the use of a magnetic connector between saw and pack ( a simple comparator circuit like a CGI would trip power a thou of a second if the wire were cut) which would be another time saver.
It seems like you are trying to making one of the most physically demanding jobs less hard with a lot of your products and I appreciate that

Sorry, I’m binging August today:). I have serial number 4 of the GRCS. There are ways to do negative rigging and remove all stretch from the rope for those “close to the roof moments”. Great work, plenty of beef in the trunk to load the speed line.

My first electric chainsaw days were with the 12 volt lead acid anchor batteries. Mostly all with a number 10 and number 8 gage home made extension cords. I did try a portable smaller battery to wear but the motor drainages was to great for the smaller lead acid battery. I do have a beautiful 110 volt big electric antique chainsaw wit a big bold brass name plate and large thumb operated chain oil pump that I hope I can find a collector to own one day. Because of my experience with the 12 volt chainsaw as a kid I became a great user of 110 volt chainsaws when I could find a good one. The electric extension cord never bothered me.

Makes me smile to see a Husqie in your hand. My Grandfather was a Norwegian Immigrant and aside from all the metal working that old blacksmith taught me he was adamant that treeworking saws come from Husqvarna. Now you just need to put a Panther bar on it!

Ego Power also offer nice electric chainsaws. 16 and 18". If you don't want your battery in the chainsaw, you can get a backpack so you carry the batteries on your back and connect it to the chain saw.
Just bought it, the DCS 2500T , with 1.4/1.1 mm chain, carving. I wish they had a bar with ball bearing at the front of the bar. I'm told there is only the carving bar at that chain. It stalls a bit with the carving-shouldn't press it too hard. Still, I think it is an excellent arborist saw.

They say no emissions, but something is definitely emanating from the batteries when using and charging.
@@selfemployed1338 more so when strip mined the minerals to put together and then the many factories to refine the components lol love the electric are emissions free arguments that pop up. As long as they keep making batteries for the older models should last a long time.

I couldn’t care less about emissions regarding something like this. A small 30-40cc chainsaw isn’t a drop of dew in the ocean of daily emissions.
I consider the characteristics that effect me directly and immediately much more important.
Things like power, weight, run time, ease of use, effort involved to start, noise output and safety.
Differences that I can feel in my back or shoulders after a full day of using it.
The smog level in L.A.? That’s not going to matter to me if I die from heat exhaustion trying to pull start a cranky, flimsy 40 pound widow maker while up in a tree.
Sure emissions on the chipper truck are worth thinking about and mitigating but emissions from a climbing saw?
I can’t even pretend that matters.
I’d think if you’re seriously worried about modern battery packs “emanating” something harmful during normal use, old corded power tools may be your only option because compared to the two strokes ring-a-ding ding spitting and dripping half burnt premix oil everywhere, constantly puffing out blue smoke with it’s 300+ degree breath, well compared to that ordeal, battery powered tools are no emissions when in use compared to that.
@@jaxturner7288 I'm more worried about something that might cause cancer. We know breathing gas exhaust is not good, but as I said, something comes from the batteries, you can smell the difference, is it more harmful or less?
They ( the so called experts ) are wrong about climate change, co2 carbon emissions don't affect the weather, climate change is a political issue, the sun controls the climate, not carbon emissions.
Get over the guilt. I would have used this in a heartbeat, and it would have nothing to do with emissions as some are talking about. No hot exhaust in your face, no gasoline to mess with, no more EVER having to start it. No flooding the carb, fouling the plug, being forced to start it in difficult positions, or leaving it running between cuts. One more thing is it has 100% torque from the start. You know how if your chain is resting on the wood when you hit the throttle and it won't move? Not enough torque. That's no longer an issue with an electric saw because they have MUCH more torque from the start. Next time you put an electric saw in your hands, try doing that and compare with a gas saw. Makes me want to start climbing again.

Great work I have wondered why the manufacturers haven’t adapted a remote battery type system to reduce saw size and weight and make it more versatile and a more likely to be chosen over a gas operated saw, not to mention if designed correctly power cord could double as a lanyard
Pellenc ( a French company) did it several years ago.
Their umbilical power system includes a top handled chainsaw amongst a range of other tools.
It was the only way to get the battery power back then - carry the batteries separately.
But it isn't up to Husky and Stihl standard for work. Ok for small treework and orchards. ( A friend has one)

that may look like a easy tree, but thats a whole day affair, or close too it. I could see the angle that your mini' skid was on there.. Those little echo 2511t's are great little saws.Got 2-3x of them on our trucks.. I been usem for a year plus now.. Yea there not the mst powerful, biggest fuel tanks, but the weight and performance, AND reliability of'm is pretty darn good.. like the battery pack idea on the harness.. That t540i ripss!! everythin is gonna be goin electric oneday, but a woodchipper,,lol.. still gonna hae noise from them, chompin away..

I love my 540i, you can bury a 12inch bar in hardwood and it doesn't complain at all. That's all I need in a tophandle. Plus quiet, lots of torque.
