  • Frequent route was from Dengkil to Jalan Templer via MEX highway. Maybe 25% stop and go traffic when driven to Bandar utama and Sungai Buloh.
    Distance covered: 365.7KM.
    Petrol consume: 21.048L
    Fuel consumption: 17.3745km/l
    Notes for myself.
I'm currently doing a comparison using different petrol brands and so far this is what I got.
Vios fuel consumption with different petrol.
    BHP 17.4km/l
    Qaltex 15.9km/l
    Petronas 16.5km/l
Most economical drive via SKVE and ELITE from Sg. Buloh Petronas to Sepang Petronas.
    Distance covered: 62.1KM
    Fuel consumed: 3.12L
    Fuel consumption: 19.9KM/L
    Average speed was 95KM/h
Really not bad for a almost ten year old car with an engine that was released almost 20 years ago.

Hey. Nice vids, how's the difference in driving and shifting feel between Saga MC2 and Vios J MT? Which is a better car in that regard?

Thank you! The driving experience for the Vios is better than the Saga as its more stable, smooth, quiet, spacious and powerful. But the Saga has a much more better gear shifter. The Vios is better when it comes to long distance driving and hauling friends as that's what I primarily used it for. The Saga is good but not better in long distance driving and hauling passengery but it's better in town driving than the Vios as its more nimble and fuel efficient in this scenario.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I need a family car that's at least fun to drive, hence the manual so I'm looking through all the options that we have here in Msia. Trying not to go with cars that are too old, but if so, the only options are Persona up to 2020, Saga latest, and Vios keli MT.
I'm still skeptical on Proton's long term quality, especially with the little things like their power windows and what not. And also looking at your oil sump leak in the Saga, that doesn't bode well.
Have you tried the Persona 2020 MT?
I still hate that the Vios and the Persona low specs don't have folding rear chairs.
Also, the Vios with no HHA, is it a huge downside compared to the Saga?
      What do you think?

Both our Vios and Saga has no Hill Hold Assist (You'll have to get the premium AT Saga varient for that if I'm not mistaken). For me so far I never used the Saga's rear folding seat feature yet and I never once wished that the Vios has rear folding seats, the boot it's super large for me.
Proton Persona 2020 I don't really have much experience, only driving it a few times. I still preferred the first gen Persona because it had rear indepent suspension which made it corner super well unlike the current Persona which downgraded to rear solid beam suspension like the Saga hence handles similarly.
When it came to the oil sump issue it's more towards Proton's assembly plant problem instead of the cars reliability. The power windows yeap you're right they still have issues, I have a friend for bought a Persona 2023 and the drivers side window failed before 10,000KM.

But honestly, Proton Saga's engine and transmission reliability is very good. We had a Saga BLM which almost made it to 500,000KM millege as we replaced it with the new Saga. It also had oil leaks before because of not well sealed gaskets from the factory. But after replacing the gaskets it didn't have any major problems (apart from the power window) and only broke down the side of the road once because the engine crank shaft sensor failed at around 370,000KM millege.
Another thing I might want to warn you if you're getting a Proton is the Proton service center is very bad in not following SOP. I encountered many issues with my Proton service center, they actually refused to fix my engine oil leaking problem immediately. I had to call Proton HQ and they swiftly helped me with the issue, warning the service center for not follow SOP and told me to immediately drop the Saga off to get the oil sump resealed on the same day.
