If you run long enough with James in the remake, he does make an audible gasp. If you turn down all the sound effects and music, and just keep the voices, his breath also becomes more ragged the more he runs. Depending on your health, he makes more painful sounds.
@scoobz4177 SPOILER ALERT the audible gasp is the PTSD he has with Mary . That gasp was her last breath when James smothered her to death with a pillow on her death bed.
Yes, there is no animation for his face when he's breathing, and this look very weird! The game is amazing but lack general lack of polish who could make it better!
They may or may not agree whether the original is better than the remake or not. But let's be honest, thanks to this Remake the saga that this generation barely knew was revived a little. Do you think that the youtubers or waifu streamers on duty would play the original?...I don't think so. Now everyone is playing the remake and that will lead them to also play the original out of curiosity.
Hardly any will stream the original because it's just not easy to get and that's a problem. An official PC version would be great, but no. Konami seems to refuse, probably because the last HD version they did was extremely scuffed. The original is just getting buried in the past along with the PS2, less anyone wants to sail the 7 seas on PC for a fan-supported version.
@@keystrix3704 You stayed in the 2000s friend, today with two clicks you download the PS2 emulator and the ISO of the game and you are playing it in 2k quietly on your PC. Or you have the "Silent Hill 2 enhanced edition" for PC, which is a community-enhanced version that you can easily find online. So that is not the problem why a young RUclipsr would not play it, but rather their problem is that it is a game from 20 years ago and today's young people want good graphics.
silent hill 2 og to me promotes the idea of less is more, less enemy encounters increases anxiety, less filler (8 hours of running around collecting items and smashing windows) allowed for the original to be story focused. The originals pacing allowed for common musical themes to reoccur and to really hit home. The opening theme when James reads the letter... the OG ended it the same way, but in silence this time. So when you are experiencing the reading a second time you're reminded... of the emotions and how far you've come from the beginning of the game, physically, emotionally and psychologically.
@lancb Such incredible comments! I love how deeply you all engage with the game and how much attention you pay to the details. It really fuels our team to improve and make our videos even better. Thanks, buddy!
@@lancbaside from the hordes of enemies in certain spots. Bloober really outdid themselves with this one. It may not be the best remake ever but very solid and gives us hope for sh1,3, and 4 remakes
@LuckyNeuron-ys8sy yes, they did a good job, and definitly came very close, still i wonder, if tango games had the opportunity to remake silent hill 2 it would be a masterpiece
The og combat is kinda clunky. It’s not fun after an hour. But remake combat is really well done. The intensity of James swinging his weapon, his grunts, and the feedback is simply amazing. Shooting too is fun since I could consistently land headshots and end encounters with ease. It never got repetitive. But Og... I found it better to run away from every encounter if I could. Bloober’s team approach also works themeatically because James has to overcome his obstacles; it drives home the seriousness of the Silent Hill forcing James into a corner to make him face the truth
@ShadubaDraw Thanks for your support! We just started last month, but we believe the community values quality. Please subscribe and stay tuned for upcoming videos.
the remake was my first time playing through the game but I gotta say I am very interested in going back to the original since it seems really cool too
I highly recommend it. It's quite a "same-but-different" experience. Mainly, it's shorter but still sweet, while not nearly as packed with jump scares and aggressive enemies. It's very atmospheric and some character interactions and puzzles are quite different.
Interesting would also be: How many enemies in the old version vs the new version? Cause that felt really annoying to me in the remake. Just too many (and too powerful) enemies. Killed the atmosphere now and then.
I know that this is an "aesthetic" comparison, but why does the enhanced edition of SH 2 looks that pixelated? I dont think it looks like that normally.
They say they’re using the Enhanced Edition mod, but I don’t think they’re actually using it, as many graphical features from the mod are missing in this video. If you’re going to make comparison videos, you need to be better. But overall, your video is pretty well made.
@@Comparaholic I’m not talking about the high-resolution textures-I’m saying it looks like you didn’t even install the mod. Like I mentioned before, a lot of the PS2 graphical features added by the mod are missing in this video. I honestly think you should just remake this video with the mod actually installed this time.
Alot of hype and praise on this remake. But the Original is still king. It was made by the real guys who made it from scratch. RE 1 remake was different because there was no good story. Its different here. Simply, it's not a replacement. All I wanna say.
So glad they removed stamina in the remake. Sometimes I just don't understand why they put stamina in a survival horror game (e.g. the Evil Within). It is just frustrating.
i consider remake the game of the year, James is great and more enemies in darkness increase anxiety. Scary in many places. Locations are much bigger and better, puzzles too. Improved bosses. Thousands of small details. But Mary/Maria is nowhere near level of original. Famous "Anyway? What do you mean anyway!' is butchered. Her deaths are much worse and reading a letter in the end as well. I've replayed OG 2 yesterday after over 10 years and still don't feel like reading or watching anything funny. Much bigger emotional impact. And I'm 30 years old! The only game that makes me sad. Play both, I love them for very different reasons.
I’m happy for this comparison video because it made me notice something. The remake is objectively great, but I somehow prefer James in the original. Remake James just doesn’t look like someone who would commit (even unplanned) murder. He looks more like the gentle artist type, I guess they were trying to emphasize the life crisis thing. Original James looked more masculine, like he could have a temper and lose it, and that was appropriate. I miss that in the remake. Same with Mary. The original Mary was more gentle and feminine, you could easily think of her as a sickly woman. Remake Mary is too “sturdy”. So it’s like gender roles have been flipped a little bit, compared to the original. Original voices were better too.
If you run long enough with James in the remake, he does make an audible gasp. If you turn down all the sound effects and music, and just keep the voices, his breath also becomes more ragged the more he runs. Depending on your health, he makes more painful sounds.
Thanks for the detailed explanation 💎. I wish there was an animation, too.

Agreed if he runs really far in the remake he actually makes sounds of getting tired lol although infinite running coz he runs like an old lady
Oh, the music melts my heart!
Legendary encounter at the end!
Cheers, mate! May we all face our pyramid-face

There’s a surrealness to the og that is missing from the remake. I don’t know what it is, but it’s just missing.
Yeah, this is the case for many remake titles. I wonder if it has roots in the philosophy that the directors follow.

wtf ., noob
I think they changed how fast the enemies are tho. One of the nurses I tried sprinting past ran like a mile to hit me and I was shocked
