Paul's baby's gonna hit the first 60 inch vertical leap 😁🔥
Love how Paul’s voice is deeper than normal when talking to her😂
Please don’t blaspheme God’s name.
Nice! Two of my favorite training experts joining forces! Love Dr. Splichal, have followed her work for years. Great to have her on here! How lucky are we to get world class teaching from a person like her for FREE right to our devices! Amazing!
what did you learn from this?
Took her certification course a few months back. All of her information combined with yours and a few others will lead the way for this next generation of coaches and athletes. Keep going!!
Nike Kobe 8 Protro best shoe ever created, 2023 August 23 release😊
I really wish gyms would allow people to workout barefoot for these very reasons.
Bro I just take my shoes off when I get in and workout in socks I be so much stronger
Just discovered Dr Emily about a month ago from her NASM interview. 2 🐐s here! The Step Strong tablets were helpful for my plantar fascia issues
Link isn't working for your Speed Code course.
This is one of the best podcasts that I’ve ever heard. These topics are extremely personal and the information that I got will help me. Thanks a lot!
Woooow! Excited for this one 💪🏼
8:29 Love this segment - I thought of this; boxers have been jumping rope for literally a century (give or take of course) and they are some of the springiness athletes imo. Jump rope is miles better than calf raises or the new fad tib raises. As Doc touched on, yes, those isolated exercises have their place such as rehab or addressing a specific issue, but we us athletes need to realize, eventually BE AN ATHLETE lol, jump rope, skip, hop, bound, sprint, jog, etc
Would be great if the shoe manufacturers would make a wider toe box. I’m 48 and seen all the trends come and go. Nike are dominating the basketball shoe game ATM. But there shoes are really tight in the toe box….
Been following Emily splichal for a while now, this ep gonna be revolutionary!!
Bro if they say 100% one more time I’ll going to go crazy
Great podcast! Would love to hear more about anterior pelvic tilt and how it affects biomechanics vs how much it’s just genetics.
For instance a lot of Asians have much less of a natural tilt than say the big booty Brazilians (and then everyone else is somewhere on that scale between these two groups) - so when do you know if it’s too much or just genetic and shouldn’t be fixed?
Learned so much in such a short period of time! Thank you both for this!!!

I have a question: when I dorsiflex my ankle, (let's say I'm doing a range of motion test, knee to wall) my achilles tendon shifts, it like jumps. Why is that?
I find it kind of difficult to gradually progress with plyometrics
I've noticed that when I play too much basketball or do too much of something my achilles tendons start to hurt about 1 inch above insertion point, and they start to shift when I dorsiflex my ankle until I reach my maximum range of motion
I'm 20 years old and I really need some help
First comment
wonderful info, the way she addresses the ankle sprain is so pro!
a question: can I do phase one of vert code bodyweight and after phase one of mac Mclung bodyweight then phase 2 of vert code and 2 of Mclung etc... so go from basic to more advanced in both the programs or is it better to finish vert code and after do Mac Mclung bodyweight? then after the bodyweight programs i will pass to the elite programs... really thanks
Dealing with Achilles tendinopathy right now and I miss playing ball so bad. I haven’t balled since February and get so tempted to get into it but don’t wannna deal with a rupture.
Wonderful! Lots of help! What are those boxes called for your plyometrics training? I play high school basketball and I am trying to increase my lower body speed and quickness but also somewhat increase my vertical also.
What are some examples of integrated training for the fascia? I've been doing the isolated foot exercises that Dr. Splichal said doesn't translate.
Question for you Paul:
If you were to build your own home gym from scratch, what 5 pieces of equipment would you buy? (Dumbell sets etc. Can count as one piece)
My Achilles is long af & I still can’t jump that high I’m confused 😭
5:06 - perfect example of too much of anything, good for nothing. Moderation always wins.
What about running. Running really kills my foot ans lower body.
Thanks for this Paul. When you asked the question at the end about training the Achilles, and Dr. Splichal talked about isometrics to strengthen the intrinsic muscles of the foot.. what would be an example of such an exercise? I know you've talked about standing on one foot as really good ankle training. Is this the sort of thing she's referring too?
This was great to listen to. I especially enjoyed the points made about the many variables associated with lack of ankle dorsiflexion! 💯
Nerd
As a high level basketball player who's transitioned to barefoot shoes off the court, I'm looking for something to wear on the court that's at least zero drop & with a wide toe box. I developed bunions at a young age because of cramming my toes into narrow toe boxes thinking it was normal. I'd love a basketball shoe that's minimal and that i can wear toe spacers in while playing. Any suggestions?

Excellent show. I just became a new sub! Thanks!
💯
Great podcast, super helpful for someone dealing with foot issues. Thanks, bless!
Hey pj can we get lethal shooter on the podcast
Paul you are growing mustache 🆒
Edge U relaunch date?

The human foot evolved in the grass planes. the human foot is not meant to be used on flat hard surfaces. I am supposing that the first footwears were for warmth and shielding against snow. The human foot was already in evolution before the last ice age with the homo habilis and homo erectus. No idea if they might have used foot wear to protect against dangerous ground such as hot sand or sharp rocks. Modern foot wear is necessary to connect the human grassland foot to the modern flat hard surfaces. The problem is that designers are also in the business of making money therefore shoes aren't sufficiently engineering for the human anatomy .

Basketball shoes that don’t “squeze” the toes?
I feel like under armor bball shoes have a pretty wide toe box
It's not as black and white as she portrays it in the beginning of the video. You can adapt very quickly from going full time barefoot to GameDay shoes.
