Michael drank and smoked cigars, Kobe chose training over sleep, Beastmode stashed Skittles in his socks, and Chad ate McDonald's. It seems to all come down to individuality and finding your own balance. Thanks for the interesting content!
Sodium deficiency is a real thing and it will make it hard to sleep. I been eating clean for a while now and I never thought about sodium and since my diet had hardly any sodium in it I had to add back sodium and ever since I been sleeping like a baby.
@@Lurtz14301 and that's all I eat. I also realized I am probably not getting enough magnesium and zinc in my diet as well. I need to supplement with a multi-vitamin to make sure I get everything I need to get.
...it's not that simple given it's impossible to definitively say how many calories you burned on a given day. How is a calorie surplus defined for an athlete who has wildly different levels of training intensity on different days?
I needed this video, i would cramp up horribly, and ended up with multiple nagging injuries for years after maintaining a “clean” low calorie diet. Now that i’ve added some sodium (electrolytes) prior to workouts and increased my calories I have noticed my performance improved greatly
Keep posting Paul Favríts (as galpin would say)! Love the content, I honestly had no idea the pros were taking steps back in athleticism when they “went clean”. Anything diet is going to spark controversy, but I’ve avoided UPF and added sugar for years now and I’ve been cooking for my family of 5.5 since 2017 and a couple keys to making the food taste great(so kids eat enough of it) and healthy(no UPF and no added sugar) are : 1) learn how to make sourdough bread, preferable using ancient grains. 2) make your own yogurt and or keifer 3) make freezable protien bars, gotta have a quick tasty option when you’re in a rush or packing a lunch. 4) hunger is a horomone, spend time getting to know the difference between hunger and cravings. #SquidLife
This advice is so real. I was sweating more than I should and my performance wasn't peak because I removed salt from my diet. Like completely. Which made me gas out and sweat so much. Felt like I was sweating my muscles away
Another factor to consider for athletes and their diet is TIME. It may be all well and good to say 'eat clean all the time' but realistically what athlete has the free time to be preparing every single meal they eat every single day? This obviously doesn't apply to high-level pro athletes who have personal chefs, but for your average college kid, ain't no way.
Reflecting on my experience, it’s all about the timing of “clean” vs “junk” food! And my only question is for the “high fat content” that could slow recovery by clogging the digesting process. What do you think PJ?
I probably shaved years off my life and a lot of performance by following intermittent fasting plus coffee on empty stomach plus mostly clean eating with not enough calories, carbs, or sodium plus hard fasted workouts. Feel much better now eating breakfast and eating more plus drinking more uncle Matt’s orange juice, raw milk, and matcha lattes with a pretty good amount of sugar added.
eating a cheeseburger before a sporting event is the way to go. you will burn it off. that is the point. your body knows it can expend so much energy and it responds accordingly.
Cheese before a game? Isn't cheese inflammatory which will lower our performance during a game? Mentioning this because I know Tom Brady changed his diet to eliminate cheese. I also now eat less cheese and my body and stomach function more effieciently
@@helloall3977 some people don't do well with cheese. Eat what makes you feel good, but something with more fat in it is the way to go. Beef is excellent.
I think your definition of clean eating is exclusive to you and sounds like an extremely low carbohydrate diet which is a terrible idea. The easiest way to add “clean” calories to an athletes diet are things like dried fruits which is extremely calorie and carbohydrate dense, next would be raw dairy which is incredible for bone density, then white rice which is extremely dense and if you add sauce to it or bone broth it’s extremely easy to eat in large quantities. Last would he honey and maple syrup which are excellent to replenish carbs quickly. Sourdough bread and pasta are other great options too

Very true. athletes eat like sedentary people and vice versa. 😮 In my team the most overweight guy eats the most shit. The leanest guy don't eat at all. And they wonder why they look they do..

Definitely real. Especially if you're somebody that workouts often and hard
I have been trying to limit sodium because HBP runs in the family; what do you think I should do?
@@VQFlood Consult your physician and play around with sodium levels within whatever range they recommend. idk tho
Most unprocessed Whole Foods have next to no sodium in them. Without salting your food it’s extremely hard to get enough with clean eating.

nodding to your own video is hilarious.... all facts though

You need to get to a good body weight for your sport then eat in slight calorie surplus so you have the energy/fuel. It's pretty simple.
Ya? Tell that to James Harden.

Athletes definitely vary in shape and size but should there be a body fat percentage range that could maintain explosiveness?
Ideal probably 7-12%
