mike, reconsider naming your airplane something else. draco is a dragon and dragons are serpents and world renown in pagan cultures are snakes/dragons and the snake is satan in the bible and god may have made your draco eat the dust of the earth like it's said god punished 'the serpent' with. god is a jealous god and has buried many civilizations, literally, for dragon worship. i think god uses disasters to bring some things to our attention and this could be one of those reasons although im not 100% certain its still a good idea to not call your airplane satan, basically.

The aviation world didn't know that it needed Draco until you gave birth to it but it's had a gaping hole with its unfortunate demise. Very glad to see that Draco will not only live again but will be even more ludicrous. 😋

I am not a pilot, not even a lot into aviation. But Mike is so full of compassion, knowledge and power, he always drags me along, even lifts me up (pun intended). Suddenly I want to weld something... I was devastated when Draco crashed, an now I am evenly excited and can´t wait for the videos to come! Perfection is knocking on our screens!

Yes! This makes me so happy. I knew there was no way you would be able to just throw Draco back together without making it drastically better.

Fair chance it's already built, might even be flying.
At least half of it was paid for by the airforce. Mike is clever as hell and managed to get DoD funding through a SBIR funded grant. Hence why his emphasis on beating helicopters and 4 large dudes "4 operators and their gear"
Stage 2 concluded in 2022 and but was last updated about 8 months ago.
Completed doesn't necessarily mean built, although it can mean that. Could also just mean designed or concept proven. Or could mean concept failed. Hard to know.
Depending on the contract and the stipulations of the grant (especially as its DoD) he might not be able to publish it until the program is completely over. However I don't know the specific details of the contract. Neat part about SBIR funding is Mike's company keeps all the IP. The government actually pays you to develop stuff they want so so they can buy it from you.
Google "Draco X sbir" and poke around. All public record. You can even email some of the DoD contacts, might be able to get some FoIA requests in to get the scoop.
A couple years back I started asking for at least snippets to the status of Draco because after all Mike “can’t take it anymore,two builds at once” zip,zero, nada…..silence. About a year ago I was nicely told to unsubscribe if I don’t like the new content so I did. Mike is an amazing aircraft builder which is why we all starting watching/subscribing & buying merchandise. Mike like many RUclips’ers has lost his way but hopefully he will remember his roots and get back to building awesome aircraft!
In the meantime, Cmon Man! Give us a bone!!!

speech he posted a bit ago & google "Draco X SBIR". Not saying it's built and being tested by the military, but, at the very least it's mostly designed. Don't know how you'd spend $1.5 mil (minimum) with Mike and not get at least a design out. But it very well might be built/tested, (doubtful). The SBIR grant doesn't necessarily dictate R&D as not construction, as construction of a prototype is definitely R&D territory"
Long story short, Drago X R&D was partly funded by the airforce and he's marketing to be an alternative to helicopters. Hence him talking about helicopters and "4 big dudes with their gear (spec ops bros)"
Mostlikely a paper design, and not built yet, but mostlikely under contract with the airforce still and can't actually talk about it.
Personally I'm hoping to see the C-XXX number in the coming years 😆

If you look at yourself poor, you will never do what you want in life. In your classification im beyond broke. In reality, poeple think i make a lot. I do not, but i do get and buy what i want when i can. To why i have 2 1 tons trucks, 3 trailers, an enclosed tractor, a ditch witch among many other things. Its just what i like, though im "poor".

Good on you Mike! I subscribed to your channel during the Draco build, and to this day, I anxiously await every new video. I'm a 65 y.o. retired machinist who wishes he had instructors with your drive and infectious personality when I was in school. While I'm not a pilot (I have no depth perception due to a botched surgery) I love aviation. I've got a couple hundred jumps in when I skydived in my 20's, raced motocross and bungee jumped. My son is a Navy aviator, and I've been fortunate enough to see lots of navy planes up close. I used to hang out at the local municipal airports hoping (and getting a few rides) with some of the local pilots. I've done a lot of flight simming, and was fortunate enough to get to try out an actual Navy F-18 simulator a couple of times. Watching you and some of the other Fat Tire Cowboys flight videos help me live out my dreams of flying. Thank you for sharing your smile!
Man, I love the outro music and montage. It gets me so pumped to go build something amazing too, and do it well. I can wait to see the build of Draco X. Your original build got me interested in flying and considering getting my pilots’ license someday.
If Draco X has an even shorter landing roll it will be doing it in reverse.

I actually cried when I saw Draco crash video. I am so happy to see this. I would like to see Scrappy get finished and fly first, but Draco has to live again! Mike, you are an inspiration for all.

I'm currently doing my ground training in Europe for my FI (equivalent of CFI) course. I moved to a different country and I don't have a girlfriend nor many friend so I can work and study 10-12 hours a day. I wasn't doing this before and I didn't think that I was capable or If it was possible. But seeing your big big smile and this contagious passion for Avatian makes me feel like I can do anything, anything!
I hope to see "Draco X" soaring trough the skies and you smiling from the cockpit soon!

Real excited on scrappy but my jaw dropped when I seen this.... building one plane that's not quite finished after such a long road and to announce Draco mkII with the same enthusiasm and ready to dive right back in makes me respect this man even more. Getting my pilots license has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember and it's this kind of stuff right here, the passion in it all that makes me want to fly that much more. Keep it going I beg you!
