Back on Thursday, I drove up from LA to Bishop, California for the next stop along my year-long road trip. After picking up my permit at the Eastern Sierra visitor center, I drove to the trailhead at South Lake in the Inyo National Forest, where I ate a quick dinner and went to bed pretty early. I woke up the next morning and set out along the trail, making my way up and over Bishop Pass, crossing the border into Kings Canyon National Park, and dropping down into upper Dusy Basin, where I set up camp for the night. I spent the evening photographing the sunset, and although it took awhile to get going, the colors of the clouds really came through and made for an incredible looking sky. Soon after it got dark, I went to bed, very ready to get a good sleep after a long day of hiking.
The next day was pretty leisurely - I slept in, took my time moving to the next campsite, and then spent the evening wandering around the basin, shooting some more landscape photos as the sun began to set.
On the final morning of the trip, I woke up very early (around 4:45am), planning on heading back up to the top of Bishop Pass to shoot some photos during blue hour. I ate a quick breakfast, packed the backpack, broke down the tent, and began to make my way out of the basin. Along the way I saw two deer, which is always a bit scary at first, as you only see a pair of eyes staring right at you, but then you quickly realize they're more scared of you than you are of them. Just as it started to get a bit light out, I made it to the top of the pass, and set up for a couple more photos to finish off the trip - one of myself overlooking the Bishop Lakes, using a very wide angle lens, and the other of just the Bishop Lakes themselves. I then hiked back down to the car, enjoying a beautiful sunrise along the way.
Up next: More hiking in the Eastern Sierra!
Current location as of this upload: Bishop, California
    Thanks for watching!
