Thanks for a better video I had the great privilege to work the trail from the swing bridge to Glenn pass as a crewleader in 89 with the ccc .brings back great memories .
Great video! What a special hike. We did ours in July and it was brutally hot and there were billions of mosquitoes! I’ve been wanting to do this loop in October for the cooler weather, no skeeters, and all those beautiful colors! Awesome bear sightings!!
Thank you! I would definitely recommend October for your next time out. It got pretty chilly at night, but it was well worth the comfortable days and fall colors!
A friend mentioned Rae Lakes Loop to me last week and I thought I'd watch a few videos to see what it was like - wow that was stunning! Wonderfully shot and narrated, the valley shot at 13:15 was jaw dropping, as was the fall colors shortly after that. Very inspiring, thank you for sharing!
Great job on the video. I've never gone late in the season. But last summer was so brutal with the bugs, im actually going in September this year. Ive been on that section of the JMT so it was nice to see the area again. Thanks
Thanks for watching! Fall can be questionable with weather, but when it works out, it’s the most amazing time to be out there. Enjoy your hike in September!
Nice job. This summer was supposed to be my summer to hike the Rae Lakes loop, but the pandemic got in the way. It'll be there next year and it looks like September might be a good time to do. Thanks for posting this as it's keeping me motivated to stay in shape. I missed it, but how many miles did you hike from your campground at Rae Lakes, up and over to your next campsite?
Thanks for watching! It was just under 10 miles from Rae Lakes to camp at Junction Meadow, but there were other places to camp before that, close to Vidette Meadow. I hope you end up getting to hike the loop next year!

Nice video...Rae Lakes is on my list for this summer!
I am hiking this tomorrow, Oct 19th. Going to go clockwise. This was a great video. Weather should be great. Thanks.

Alex Cottam yeah! I’ll never forget the cold October nights we had on the JMT! Always bringing that zero degree bag!
