Hi , just watched video again , what size screws did you use putting up the charger box ? have you looked outside , you might have a few extra fender hanging positions to use .
Fascinating electrical lesson but a horrifying amount of electric boxes requiring a cabin of their own! My 41' is as simple as possible with the key being less things to go wrong. We all run our boats in different ways but your set up terrifies me.
It’s mostly about duplication and redundancy. They reason it looks complicated is because I’m doubling and tripling up the different ways I can keep charge flowing into my batteries which means three mppt controllers, one DC-DC so we can charge from the alternator and an AC-DC so we can charge from shore power, and a controller for the wind turbine generator. I want to have as many easy as possible to charge so that when one system has issues I’m not stuck. So in that sense it’s actually pretty simple. The other stuff is just control/monitoring/programming interface related. The thing that’s doing my mildly OCD brain in is the diabolical rats nest that been cobbled together by previous owner. A lot of it is super quality and worth re-using but needs so serious tidying and re-routing of cables
Victron, can't you make a box that does everything instead of needing 10 boxes (expensive boxes) for even a simple setup? Death by 1000 cuts... It would be cheaper to include BT or display in the main unit instead of an expensive extra dongle. Along the same lines, I would try to stay away from wireless technologies (like BT) for basic systems and navigation, it makes running silent (in pirate waters for example) difficult. Once your install is complete and tested, monitoring should not need constant monitoring anyway.
The BMS will protect the batteries from catastrophic discharge, the battery protect allows me to set a slightly higher threshold to keep emergency lighting, bilge pumps and basic emergency nav and have it shut down everything else the other side of it.

So it says "History of our boat" your new Bowman.... so why all the commercial about victron and not the History of your boat? I love victron and have a victron system on my boat. But please..it's click bait if you advertise one thing then try and gain sponsorship from it .
In this weeks episode we get to meet with the old owners of our beautiful boat and find out some interesting history about her. We start the Victron instal and cut mattresses for the aft cabin all in preparation for moving aboard.
Ahhhh maybe the title should be “In this weeks episode we discuss some of the components we’re installing in our electrical system and also we make some mattresses for the aft cabin and also we have a discussion with the old owners and also while we’re doing that we have some coffee and also several other things which we filmed but didn’t make the final edit?” Would that be better?
Not click bait Click bait is lying I’ve said this over and over and over and over Click bait is when someone lies in the title of their video Like calling our video “Angelina Jolie Topless” We have to come up with titles for our videos every week. We always say something in the title which in some way points to some of the content of the video We could have titles the video “In this episode we have a look at some of The electrical components we are installing but we won’t name them invade anyone thinks we’re fishing for sponsors even though we’ve already bought the stuff with our own money and aren’t sponsored at all and we also meet with the original owners and we also make some mattresses” Would that satisfy you? Maybe we should run all out titles past you before deciding on them?
@SailingMelody you could just say Victron please sponsor us ! Give us free stuff.. and we will aso tell the rest of our followers what we have fitted and a little history of the boat over a coffee! 😁
Click bait ... with a long sails pitch for Vitron. I love victron. But please it'll you say history of the boat don't try and sell stuff and be honest and show what you said the history of the boat ! It's getting a little fake now!
We are not in any way sponsored for Victron. We bought absolutely every thing ourselves and have no links to victron whatsoever, we aren’t even in contact with them. We have chosen to use that gear but unless you prefer I put tape over the product name and say “other brands are also available” like the BBC? That would be fake. We are 100% real and 100% showing and explains what kit we’re using and how we’re using it. Please explain how that is fake. If you don’t like it please do us the honour of unsubscribing
your you Tub video says "History of our boat , hurricane " then you spend half an hour on power banks and victron equipment. If its a video on the History please tell us!. I have been. We could have titles the video
“In this episode we have a look at some of
The electrical components we are installing but we won’t name them invade anyone thinks we’re fishing for sponsors even though we’ve already bought the stuff with our own money and aren’t sponsored at all and we also meet with the original owners and we also make some mattresses”
Would that satisfy you?
Maybe we should run all out titles past you before deciding on them?
@@SailingMelody yes ..click bait.. misrepresentation
Following you from the beginning and have much admiration for your passion.
And also think the Bowman a great choice.
But please don't say one thing then spend 29 mins of my time on your victron upgrades.. you missed the victron battery management shunt and battery protect.
I use 2x 138ah vallence xp27 , a B2B, Mppt,712 battery monitor, battery temp and battery protect.
Happy sailing
@@pauldickinson7108 In this weeks episode we get to meet with the old owners of our beautiful boat and find out some interesting history about her. We start the Victron instal and cut mattresses for the aft cabin all in preparation for moving aboard.
@johnanddawn2918 well if it says we will be sharing you the History of the boat we as viewers expect that.. most of us have boats watch content for what it is .. we would all love to have sponsors to support our sailing and equipment. But if you say my victron equipment... or History of our boat please he honest and deliver the content advertised.
I and many others would live big discounts on our sailing equipment.
@@pauldickinson7108 But few are prepared to put in the effort required. No offence you are entitled to your opinion. But read the description as well as the title. I think it is balanced.
