    A tip I heard that made sense was to bet events you don't like. Meaning, I like college football, but I struggle to win at it. Where as I rarely even watch the NBA, but I find a way to finish winner betting it. The idea is that you will bet with less emotion or bias, and only focusing on picking winners. This is also why I try not to bet on teams I am a fan of .

    The reason most people don't win at spors betting is that the market is limited: they ban winners, if you sell picks they can be resold to whales (assuming they win), bookies also move lines off winners so if you get a pick and don't see the line move 2-3 points well...there are winners out there but bettors feel entitled even if they win with your picks most will lose it back on another. Biggest risk is losing TIME not money. I bet aggressively because I want to either get rich or move on to something else without "winning $20 and losing 20 hours."

    • @CaptainJackAndrews
      @CaptainJackAndrews  3 года назад +2

      Check out Sharp Sports Betting by Stanford Wong (link in description, it's like $8 on Kindle). He breaks down teasers perfectly. 2-team 6pt teasers for -120 is the worst price you want to play. Check out 3-team, if it's +160 3-team 6pt teasers, that's the same as 2-team -110. Slightly better in the long-run.

    When you say the parlay edge compounds, doesn’t that typically assume multiplication, like compound interest? How are you getting 12.5% on a 3-team parlay? 1.0454^3 = 14.25%. 4.5%x3 = 13.5%. Thanks!

    • @CaptainJackAndrews
      @CaptainJackAndrews  3 года назад +1

      I figured that might look confusing with the on-screen graphics. When you parlay 3 "coin-flips" priced at -110, the payout will be +600. However, the true odds of winning all three is 0.5*0.5*0.5 = 12.5%. The 12.5% house edge number comes from the bet paying 6:1 instead of the true odds of 7:1.
      If you were to wager $100 on a 3-team parlay you are wagering $100 to win $91, followed by $191 to win $174, followed by $365 to win $332 (most books round that up to a $600 payout). With each leg you've been rebetting your vig. It becomes a wager that has a 12.5% chance of winning, but pays $600.
      Math works out to be: ((true odds * (payout+100) - 100)/100
      ((0.125 * (600+100) - 100)/100 = 12.5% house edge.
      If I had it to do over again, I would have chosen a different example to put on-screen.

    • @Deedubbs8002
      @Deedubbs8002 3 года назад

      Excellent, thank you for the clarification. Personally, I just wanted the clarification because many boosts are for uncorrelated parlays. I have a google doc to convert to decimal and then get a multiplier to calculate fair odds, but I thought I had missed something. Your explanation, makes perfect sense and, like all of your content was thoughtful and well-taught. Thank you.

    This is how you will win in the end. Pick a bad team. Then bet against them. I always bet against the JETS. I always bet the spread. I do a progressive bet. What is that? You ask.... Say you bet $5.00 and you loose. Your next bet will be $15.00 If you lose again. Then your bet goes to $45.00 and so on, until you win. It's really that simple. Can bets get crazy. Yes... But you can't lose forever.
    This would work better, if you have a lot of money to gamble.
    I would suggest not betting on the playoffs. Those games are impossible to pick. Just do the regular season. Never bet pre-season either.

    • @jeremyscorpio4170
      @jeremyscorpio4170 3 года назад

      I kickass at nfl preseason its my strongest sport next to cfb bowl season 💯
      Also you cant lose forever but you can go BROKE *depending on your bankroll* and if you get scared and decide to stop ✋ that could fuck you up aswell.
      Ps.....the ravens are 10-1 on the moneyline week 1 of the nfl preseason and if you knew that or had better info? You wouldn't be so afraid 👌
      .....same with the playoffs it depends on the info and how well you understand it.

Odds tells you everything. They don’t want you win. So figure out how to be at winning side. Bet on horses not on the donkeys. Coz horses always win. Learn how to share. All those teams if they don’t make money they will not be there. Figure out how you make money with loosing. They do. WhY not you right. Good luck. Questioning first step.

    It is simple. If you are proven loser in the NFL you make the best picks you can using your knowledge and your gut instincts... and then bet the other side. Sounds silly but it works. This is why so many sharp bettors like to hear the "locks" from average guys that do not know how to win.

      I've been a Professional Gambler as my primary source of income for the last decade and I've been an avid Advantage Player in casinos for over 20 years. RUclips does not require any credibility certification to make videos though. You can look around at the other videos out there on sports betting, I think you'll find my approach is authentic and truthful, while most of the others are trying to sell you something or follow some affiliate link.

    Why would you even bet the nfl when you have CFB 🏈💯
    More opportunities available & better overall.
    .....also this is the time where you should be in CBB 🏀
    you shouldn't even touch nfl if you know what your doing......unless your betting for fun and a free 🌭 🤣💯

    Frankly you should call this video "Betting For Losers". You didn't give the winners any good advice cause if you could win consistently you wouldn't be messing around with videos would you? So, I'll give you some advice from the group that is not "most of you". There are tendencies that ALL SPORTS have. Learn what those are and you will be sipping boat drinks like the rest of us here.
